My bass player Josh(RIP), instantly got deeply into Claypool, which meant I needed to adopt the same vibe. Ler was a huge inspiration on my playing in the early 90s in my band. And influenced a lot of the original music I wrote with Josh.

Ler is criminally underrated. He invented death metal with Possessed, then joined Primus, who were influential on nu metal, funk rock, and experimental rock. Not to mention, he had a different, innovative playing style for each band

My first show was Primus 1994 @ Roseland Ballroom, love Ler!!!!!!!!!! This was amazingly awesome, thank you for this guys. Those triangle exercises sound like Cacophony’s The Ninja, the crazy break before the solo👍🏽.

It's Funny, people always talk about Les or Herb, but really Ler was the real genius in the band.

This man is a genius. I finally got to see them live in ATL with Herb and man . . . I was sober as a judge (DD) and my head was spinning and I had heart palpitations, lol! Total pro's with a workman's attitude. ✊

LOVE LER! He's always reminded me of a bizarro (this is a term of endearment) Bob Weir. Both play in such unique spaces around/complementing their lead band members, humbly. Also, what a fun/funny guy he is!

Use to see Primus every weekend at the Omni nightclub in Oakland/Beserkley in the early 90's. They were kind of the house band there(Too many Puppies!!)

This makes me appreciate Primus even more. I always noticed how strange the guitar stuff was, as in it broke the conventions of guitar as a lead and instead made guitar the support of the bass...of course. But hearing it on its own I see just how crazy it all is. The bass is crazy, the vocals are crazy and the guitar is crazy....but it works!!!

As someone who has tried to work out Primus songs my whole life by ear (not advised) this is a godsend. No one every shows Ler's licks!!

This guy is one of the best for me. Bill Nelson, Robert Fripp and Ler, that's my holy trinity of rock guitarists.

Knowing how Ler was actually playing natural harmonics with those notes in the heckler cracker the code for me.. Thank you for this video, Gibson!

Wow what a great video! I’ve been waiting a long time for a video like this. Larry is one of the most underrated guitar players of all time along side Elliot Easton from the cars.
Just saw my 6th Primus show on Tuesday. I was tripping out when I saw him playing Gibson. I wasn’t expecting that. The guitars and Larry sounded great.
