You’re sure correct about the great coaches mostly being defensive guys - either as players or thru the coaching ranks. I worked with Alex Sandusky’s brother Bernie. So we talked a lot of football. Alex told Bernie that when Don Shula was playing, every time he came off the field he was standing on the sideline with the coaches, listening, taking notes, asking questions. Eventually, the coaches were asking Shula questions. I think I read that Tom Landry was the same way. The other defense guys were resting, Landry and Shula were learning the next phase of their careers. They had the internal drive to succeed in life.
It’s amazing how Dan has changed this organization and team into a consistent winner. The only thing I hate that comes with the success is the ticket prices. Two people for 3rd deck seating comes out to $800-$900 dollars. If I wanna bring my 4 year old daughter to a game next year I’ll have to spend $1300 before parking and food it’s insane.
Yeah. At the same time, you hear people asking if they’ve “peaked” too early. One way to not peak, is to keep trying to improve, and trying to be your best on every possession.
I knew Dan Campbell’s introductory speech I look at my husband and said he’s going to change things around, the Lions are going to improve a lot in 3-4 years. My husband said we’ll see and I said mark my words things are changing, this guy means what he says. I love reminding him of that ❤😂 Love going to the games fun team to watch.
