      Yeah it's a pretty decent problem if you only have the one key. Did you get it sorted out?

    Can a locksmith be called for a replacement key and that key works as an admin key?

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  4 месяца назад

      Yes! Any key that can be cut and programmed to your car becomes a new key and an admin key. This also doesn't have to be a fancy remote fob with buttons- it can even be a simple valet key with no buttons if you're trying to save some cash.

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  Месяц назад

      Hey there and sure- if you take a look at this video, it does tell how any extra paired key can become an admin key and get you access back to the mykey settings to turn off MyKey. I listed a link for the company we got the DIY spare key made from, but you can also just ask a local locksmith to make you a valet key if you're trying to save some cash and just want an extra paired key (without needing any buttons on it) and then that should be considered the admin key to get into the settings menu too. Let me know if this helped or if I missed what you were meaning to ask- thanks!

    I have two keys with my car, but how do you tell which one is the master key and the secondary key?

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  9 месяцев назад +1

      If you don't have the MyKey restrictions active, both keys are the master keys or "Admin Keys". If MyKey is active, it will prompt you upon turning the car on, and if you go into the settings to try to find "MyKey" as we show in the video, a restricted key will NOT have that menu line item available and the admin key WILL have that line item available.

    When I insert my new key I'm getting "starting system fault." Is that the equivalent of your "no key detected"? This is a 2013 Edge.

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  8 месяцев назад

      Hey there and good question- the prompts on the dash are for different issues.
      "No Key Detected" has to do with a key being inserted but not paired with the vehicle, so the car won't allow itself to start. There is no irregularity in the system, and it's saying that the key needs to be paired/programmed to make it work.
      "Starting System Fault" has to do with a failure in the sequence of events to start your vehicle. This can typically be fuses, battery terminals, etc. Check your battery voltage, check the positive and negative leads to the battery to check for corrosion, fraying, or any other type of degradation. Check your fuses - if you look up the fuse diagrams in your manual you should be able to locate those related to your battery, starter system, and maybe even security system.
      After doing some digging on your '13 Edge, I found this thread on cargurus- take a look- it's pretty interesting: www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t37230_ds925182.
      So- questions please:
      1) Did you have the fault BEFORE you got your new key as well? Or is it only after your new key that you're getting this?
      2) Do you have a blade key or a remote start/bladeless fob?
      3) Do you have a wireless phone charger or another type of phone charger plugged into your vehicle when this error is coming up?
      4) When was the last time your battery was replaced? Have you been experiencing longer crank times for the engine to start after turning the key on in the morning?
      In the above link, it seems that there are a few silly things that can trigger the "starting system fault" such as a low battery in a key fob or (strangely enough...) a phone charger plugged into the car.
      I wish I had a more straightforward answer for you- I haven't ever received this error message personally, but it seems a LOT of other drivers have. I hope you figure it out without having to invest a whole lot more time/money.

      @@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews I just bought this car from an auction, one key included. I don't recall seeing any my key indications at startup. I'd purchased the key programmer, which I had used before on another Ford with no issues. I also had a GPS tracker hardwired into the car. I was driving one day and going through the settings. I think I actually enabled the my key by accident. If that's the case, it seems I should be able to disable it with that same working key. But when I go into the settings now, it only shows me that there's an admin key. I was expecting to see an option to clear it. I'll try disconnecting the battery and see if that helps.

    • @Kalaniwilliams66
      @Kalaniwilliams66 8 месяцев назад

      Also, it's a blade key and there are no accessories plugged into the car with the exception of that GPS tracker I'd mentioned.

    Also I have a 2014 ford escape titanium. Were they equipped with automatic power windows that open and close with the remote and if so, how do you Activate that function?

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  9 месяцев назад

      That function is called Global Open. You can toggle it on with FORSCAN if you're game for tinkering with DIY software changes. You can Google Global Open and Forscan for some forum posts on the fordescape pages and forscan website. It doesnt sound too difficult but I've never done it personally. Seems like you back up your existing configuration for safety then change a few characters in a certain function row in the software.

    How do you delete a Admin key?

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  7 месяцев назад

      Hey there- good question- if I recall correctly, I am pretty sure its only possible with the PATS system and you can clear it with FORSCAN or a dealer could probably do it. If you're looking to get rid of one key on the list of admin keys this probably isn't a big deal, but I don't think that it could be paired to the vehicle again after that. Thats what I researched making this mykey video at least but it would be good to check the forums or with a dealer to make sure 👍

      @@Wadendawater19028 Well done! Is the "lost all keys" feature a generic protocol for the scan tool or was that with FORSCAN? Glad you got it worked out! Very curious to understand more on this to share with others if you don't mind. Thanks for following up!
