Thank you so much for this video. I just purchased a 2015 PIU that did not come with key fobs. After following this video I was able to get a new fob working. I just had to enable it in forscan then do the lock/cycle ignition.
2013-2015 will work with the 8 ignition cycle programming. On 2016-2019, you will need IDS or FORScan to program fobs. You can get remote start by adding a hood switch on 2013-2015. The receiver on the Interceptors do suck, you have to get really close to get the remote to work, half the time it doesn't.
@@dramonxfan6431 2020+ should be same procedure. Enable keyless entry and the programming mode will be in BdyCM on the module list called "RF Keypad Learning by 48-char TIC code". FORScan may not have it on the 2020+ vehicles yet, you may need FDRS or IDS to program the fob if it isn't there. Dealer key fob is required for 2016 onward (Part GB5Z-15K601-C). DO NOT open the package until programming is complete (remote is not returnable once opened). The code will be on the package for the remote to input.
I can confirm that this method definitely does *not* work on a 2017 FPIU. I believe that the 2016-2018 FPIU are the same. There is no end user programming mode, the only way is to enter a 48 character string which can be found on a sticker inside the key fob (OEM ones only) directly into the BCM. Aftermarket ones do not have that string of numbers. Up until very recently this could only be done with IDS, but FORScan added it as a feature on a recent update. I saw that you mentioned dark car mode, so I even tried to disable dark/silent car mode with FORScan in both the BCM and IPM and it still didn't work. You also need to enable RKE in the BCM or else even IDS or FORScan can not program fobs for my year. OEM fobs which will work on the 2017 are GB5Z-15K601-A (unlock/lock/panic) and GB5Z-15K601-C (unlock/lock/trunk). All features on those fobs will work when programmed properly. When I first bought my FPIU about two years ago FORScan did not have the programming feature so I enabled RKE then took them to a dealer to program. I was trying to program a third (aftermarket so I can't use the 48 character string) with your method, but it doesn't honk and go into "programming mode". Also, your car was locking all of those times that you tested it. Those running lights come on when it unlocks remotely and go back off when it locks remotely. It honks when you push lock twice (i.e. it was already locked when you push lock). As for the hatchback releasing, try holding the button down for 3-5 seconds. I don't need to on mine, but I've heard some reports that it needs to be held down. You also won't hear the hatchback unlocking *at all*, it's super quiet, you have to use your hand to open the latch to verify that it was unlocked. Just to be clear, the hatchback does not actually pop open when you unlock it with the fob. It only unlocks, and is pretty much silent when it unlocks. There might be a setting in FORScan to get it to pop open (I know that it pops open when I run a self-test on the BCM, but it only opens an inch or two and doesn't seem to have the hardware for power assist to open all the way). My vehicle does *not* have PATS so that is unrelated. I have programming/diagnostic tools that will program IMMO and fobs (Autel KM100 and Autel MX808S-TS) and even those can not program fobs for my FPIU. The 48 character string is the only way.
Another update.. While playing with FORScan I changed the trunk function to "power liftgate" or something to that effect instead of "unlock" to see what would happen. The fob would not open OR unlock the rear hatchback when I did that. Might be worth looking into if yours still won't unlock with the fob.

Thank a lot for these informative videos, how did you cut the Chinese keys to work in the ignition switch (aka to insert them into ignition switch to start the car)?
When you buy the keys they come as uncut blanks, You have to go to a locksmith or a key cutter kiosk in a store. It's usually pretty cheap. less than $10 per key. A lot of kiosks only let you use their keys but I convinced one to let me use mine. Know that if the Chinese key fobs don't work that a locksmith won't warranty the key.
