@MaestroMephisto people look for the qualities in partners that they enjoyed in their parents because, realistically, partners - specifically spouses - are the end-life equivalent replacements of parents. It sounds weird bc people automatically pair "sexual attraction" and "parents", but if you put the pieces together rationally from there on you can see why people look for similar qualities. It's always been this way: women look for qualities they had or wanted but lacked in their fathers, and men do the same with women.

Growing up I was made fun of by the "pretty" black girls from the light skinned to the dark skinned girls as well. I had no confidence growing up at all. My boyhood crush growing up was Stacy Dash and Tamala Jones I didn't even know to be attracted to anything else other than black women. In middle school when I started to take care of my appearance still the same thing, made fun of by the black girls. When I got to high school I played basketball and moved to a white city with my Dad and I remember him telling me that I was going to like white girls and I told him that would never happen. Low and behold that changed QUICK! My first girlfriend in high was mixed Mexican and White and every other girl I dated in high school was white besides one mixed girl. I finally was told I was good looking, they did things for me, I felt appreciated and loved not gonna lie. I'm in my 30's now and both of my kids are mixed. What's crazier is through the years I'll have black women who know I had a mixed child and would assume I dont like black woman or even give me a chance. I’ve dated a lot of white women in my life thus far. I’ve dated a lot of different kinds of women. The fact of the matter is On one end black men are just desirable to women of any nation, “race”, or creed and so it’s like that. The other end is this is AMERICA. No matter what the situation of differences are we allowed to date and be with who ever we want no matter what any other person thinks or feels about it especially if they are racists. I like to joke that I have been around the world without having a passport since I was young man. I never had a preference for white women. But meeting the type of black woman that I find attractive and who finds my “corny” non thuggish personality attractive was rather difficult. The one black woman most compatible for me passed away tragically in early adulthood, and the last one I dated before meeting & marrying my white wife, our goals and desires for the future didn’t line up and I didn’t want to waste her time. So it just worked out that way, but I literally could have ended up with any woman of any background.

This same guy graduates from college and now he is living in Southern California(melting pot). It’s not that he no longer wants a black woman, he’s just exposed to so many other type of women and they are giving choosing signals. 99 percent of the time that guy will relax his preference a bit and become more open to dating other races. Again, he still likes and dates black women, he just has other options now and he’s willing to exercise them! I use out west as an example because it’s just different out there!
