MY PROFILE:
I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn't have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors. I have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey...it should be an honest and fun ride!
This was a great video Todd. I really appreciate the principles your laying out here. So much bad info in the world because people don't take a minute to gather the facts or God forbid keep their mouths shut because they really don't know the story. Thank you

Social media is the main reason our society is as messed up as it is. People are way more worried about followers and likes than actually being a decent person. I got rid of all social media like 5yrs ago and havent looked back.
maybe because i am older and have experienced more weather events in my life, I have a deep understanding of the dangers one might face on the water. I always check noaa, windy and others before heading out and check now and again during a trip even then strange things happen boating on big water and can change in moments. We take calculated risks when we stay out when it looks dicey. A wind change with gusts in the 30's can put up 4-foot rollers in just a few minutes. Wouldn't want to try doing 60 in that.

You got to understand man,they're some people that just like to run there mouth. My dad always said if you don't know what your talking about keep your mouth shut. Social media has giving people a voice but brains to know how to use it. I am with you man.
I think you’re 100% right. There’s enough drama in the fishing world and in the world in general. I read this morning that now people are saying if you always finish in the top 10 you’re cheating. If you don’t have the facts don’t say anything and if you do have the facts you shouldn’t say anything.

Social media is full of people that think they are Billy badass but 90% of them wouldn’t say that crap to someone’s face because they know what the consequences would be.

Man...I know about the "what if's" for sure! I got caught in a tornado coming off the ramp last December that destroyed my boat, truck and trailer. Insurance covered my truck...the boat, not so much. Now I've been stuck on the bank for 6 months and the "what if's" pound through my head day after day after day. It's sooooo hard to stop that.

In the fire department, We do debriefing after every major incident. The purpose of this is to analyze how things played out so to improve/ learn for the next time... I believe it's important to discuss these accidents to learn and understand. Some things are hard to talk about but are also very important and must be talked about👍
Dont mind talking about them thats different. You guys also have a lot of the facts. This is where you just throw out stuff for clicks and likes and leave everyone wondering what happened and that imagination of people or speculation goes bad quick.
My parents and grandparents has had a camp on Toledo Bend in pirates cove since I could remember and I'm literally on the lake every weekend and these storms the last month or so are so far from the norms its almost impossible to plan for them. Im 39 years old and I've never seen anything like this before because they get so bad so fast. Youre 100% correct though... Accidents like what happened on Toledo have real people attatched to them thats going through a whole bunch right now and some of the stories I've heard are only making things worse for the families and people involved.

Well said Todd, I had as many questions as anyone on the incident, but never asked them even though I knew people who were very close to those involved. God Bless those who were involved, and may they find peace with him.

As humans, we are obsessed with negativity and bad news.
We’re a society of selfish attention whores. Mix in easy access to social media and it’s a bad recipe.
Facts don’t matter as long as there’s some type of reaction--and negative/trolling content stirs the pot and gets clicks. Speculation rules the day, unfortunately.
Dude I hear you. I don’t do social media except for RUclips and only watch good people. They’ve pushed this narrative to where everyone thinks they’re a reporter and have the right to speak on it. However brother you just stay the way you’re are. They’re awesome videos and you’re a man of God with honest good soul!

Yeah. They dont care. People will say anything. Snitch. Make stuff up to snitch on that aimt even true. Gossip. Basically stir up drama. For their own betterment they think. Its just drama!! Just gotta stay out of it.
I absolutely agree as I feel there are a lot of "keyboard warriors" who don't have a clue , however I do think some are reminders such as the guys who decided to run full speed in a no-wake zone in Florida and the one at Lake Murray where unfortunately some got killed in the fog. Back before gps you had no chance of knowing where you are going and now with gps people take chances ,I've done it and in hindsight it rattles me. So in some cases it is a good thing.

I’m aware of what you’re talking about, and one thing is for sure it was definitely a situation that has changed a lot of lives. The media doesn’t care as long as they get to line their pocket. A tragic loss for sure and no comments should be made without any real knowledge of a situation. This is already bad enough for those involved and flip comments are only going to do harm and if can’t help a situation SHUT UP

In 2019 during the COVID & presidential campaign I got rid of my FB. The RUclips is as close to social media as I get, and my life is better for it. I have been known to troll in the comments, but I've even tried to stop doing that because it's of no benefit to anyone. Social media is not real life. I even stopped watching certain channels on RUclips because I realized how unhealthy the content because the aim is to be purposely divisive to maintain their relevance...I watch the Castledine because I know for sure that he doesn't care at all about popularity and he certainly will not be disingenuous just for clout, clicks, or likes.
I'm not going to SAY I know one of the channels you're referring to, but I bet a LOT of the content is centered around the "evils of Livescope..." 😶 😂

I guess I’m surprised the most by where our sport has gone. Maybe it’s been bad but I always thought fishermen were good ol’ boys. I expect the world to act this way but never thought the people around bass fishing was the same as the rest of the world.
Just keep doing what you’re doing! I really appreciate your videos! Your information and the way you put it out there has actually really helped my fishing and decision making while on the water. I’ve been captaining my kids high school tournaments and just try to keep safety first and foremost. The weather is always the most scary thing I’ve encountered on these Texas Lakes.
No offense but about half way through this video I had absolutely no idea what you were talking about or where you were going. I do like the fishing content though 👍
People using tragedies or certain events to get likes regardless if it hurts those people in those events.
Most social media, other than yours, is all about clicks.

At least let a lot of us know what the hell ur talking about. At least say what happened. Boat accident, drowning , etc. You don’t need to be specific or say names. Just tell most of us what ur talking about. We spent last 20 minutes listening.
The video was exactly what I wanted it to be about, it was never gonna be about the incidents. I made that clear. I didn't say that in the description, its why I didn't click bait it.
No doubt we need to watch what we say about others. There is no doubt we have seen more boating accidents this year than I have ever seen in my life. Seen more cheating in the past 12 months than ever before, and need just more negativity in general.
Secret Squirrel ! U are 100% right. FFS totally “blew up” tournament fishing Todd and many don’t really care about it anymore or following u guys. And I’m not a Randy fan. Take it to the bank . Used to enjoy competing on my experience at knowing the fish patterns and methods but all my experience is useless now. Don’t want to be a gamer… it’s not an outdoor sport to me. Good video.
I stay off social media because of the bullshit nobody has the true story ! I only watch RUclips, and that's it for the most part
