Have you tried holding the item to be painted on the bottom of the bucket and then paint the water and pull the item up through the paint? I haven't tried this technique at all,but it seems to me that it would look better plus you wont have to swirl anything . Just twist it slowly through the pattern you desire .
AzTeC MoFo it doesn't matter too much BUT I found that the colder the water, the faster the spray paint thickens, making it harder to swirl. it doesn't have to be warm water, just not super cold
What kind of ink are you using to make the hydro transfer common spray of these found in construction shops or a specific brand is a curiosity would be happy if I answer thanks
BIKER Boy Fun depending on the type of spray paint/enamel you use...it can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour...i suggest letting it dry for over an hour just to be safe
Hi Linda! It's hard to say what could've gone wrong. Three things I can think of would be 1. Too much paint 2. The paint was sitting too long before the dip and possibly started to solidify or 3. Possible water/air bubbles. I'm glad the first one came out perfect 😊 wish I could see it! I will be doing a second tutorial soon with more info and tips ❤
How long did you wait before you swirled it? It maybe that if the paint sits too long in the water before you swirl it.. it could start getting tacky. Another possibility is if the water is too cold...so possibly warmer water might help. Let me know if this helps!
Hi randall! I use a lot of rustoleum spray paint...I like using the flat colors but you can use just about any spray paint you want...flat, gloss...whatever floats your boat. I'm using water right out of my hose...I've noticed that if the water is too warm...the paint acts weird...cold water is better but you have to be a little quick about it because the paint will form into goop. I hope this helps! let me know if you have any other questions! :)
Therians Paws you could BUT I don't recommend doing it with spray paint. it'll be very sticky and hard to get off...I haven't tried this on my arm yet but if I did, I would try it with thin lines of acrylic paint. I think the acrylic might sink and/or disperse but maybe if you pour in the acrylic in thin lines/strands, it might just work. I know there are some artists who have done hydro dipping with skin
Tate Menges Sorry, i should've clarified...you can use tap water...as long as there's no debris, chemicals, or additives :) any water will do as long as there's nothing in it
USE A MASK? at 55 years of using chemicals and not using a mask my lungs are fked you don't want to be on oxygen the rest of your life, its horrid to feel like you are suffocating because your lungs are so filled with fluid trying to flush them self's even though its to late the damage is done.

What makes it globbed on there ? Some will go on fine and little parts are like globbed / caked on , is it bc it dried quick before dipping ?

Ok, so what am I doing wrong? The pencil swirl just made the paint all stick to the pencil...
