Thank you Richard! Please help spread the word.
Thanks, Tim!
You're welcome!
Thank you
Seems very humid with clouds here in Palmdale, Ca
High Desert.
Was having dry heat all week and this came out of nowhere or maybe just a small localized thing.
Appreciate the spot observations out there. Some incredible heat you all have been having.
Hey Tim, we don't use Greek letters anymore if we run out of names. There's a supplemental list they use now
Doh! I didn't get the memo on that. I Googled around and found this change took effect in 2021. Thank you very much for clarifying this!
Thanks Tim... If you don't like the heat come to the UK 😂
Have a great weekend 👍
I was reminiscing about my trip out there 30 years ago this summer. I loved every bit of it, especially getting away from the awful Texas heat. Thankfully it's not been so bad this year.
At [4:30] there is a satellite loop of a beautiful classic large clockwise rotation over the Southwest, yet at [5:30] the map shows several low pressure systems. I am confused.
Hi Jon, great question. The clockwise circulation is the convective cloud debris in the mid and upper levels being carried by the mid/upper level anticyclone (the upper level high). The low pressure centers are the thermal lows, which are very shallow in depth and are confined to roughly below 5000-10,000 ft. (below 700 mb).
