Exactly what I needed
Hope it helps!
Lots of future classics there. It would be interesting to revisit this list in a few years and see their values. Nice list!
I’ll definitely have to do that in like 5-10 years!
@james bond 😬 what's the condition tho ?
They will be worth nothing because all combustion engine vehicles will be banned
Depends. Classics are usually rare cars. 3 series are not exactly rare untill they become very old. Where im from e30 is $10 000, e36 is only $2000
@@morgan1985uk They only plan to ban new Combustion Engine cars in 2030 the time till they ban it completely will be a few more years
Such an underrated channel 👏 I watch all your videos and you put alot of work and effort in. Keep it up my man 💪
I love these videos. Thank you for taking time out to research and give us this information
Love all these videos, bro; keep them coming, please! You’re very knowledgeable and your car selections are spot on. Great content delivery too 👍
Enjoyed the "out of the box" thinking, always an enjoyable watch, thank you.
HELL YES!!! BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
Good video, I've had two MX5's, both mk1s, the first cost£400, the second was £650. Two fun motors for just over a grand! Kept each of them for a year and got my money back. The trick is to sell them before they dissolve beyond repair, they both had 160,000 miles on them but rotten as pears. Loved them.
Great vid JB ! I am quite sick of these 100k cars that only rich people can buy, so good job mate :)
Always love this channel - what a great post!!
I had a £1k Saab 9-3 which was fantastic. MX5 is also a good shout but they've gone up a bit. And C2 Code as others have mentioned. Good list here for those wanting something interesting on a budget, a shame that e46 prices are on the rise and that most of them have almost completely oxidised by now.
Jheeze, my guy is nearly at 100k!! I saw you start from early and haven't dropped by in a while so I'm proud to see the progress ✊🏾
same dude
It feels like this video was made for me as the timing is perfect. I’ll watch fully then comment again. Cheers buddy
Haha I hope it’s useful!
@@CarsWithJB very informative. Thanks. Before today, I had my eyes on the mx5 and now, I feel like the BMW E46 is the one I might go for. Should be able to progressively mod it and slide it round, without compromising on everyday practicality.
@@talk2cmii I started with an MX5 and I have E46 drift car now and I can say the E46 Is much better for daily and drift
My man finally did itttttt
I bought a R170 Mercedes SLK 230 for £1000 a few months ago. I feel it’s a good fun car and so far I’m enjoying it. I’ve had no problems with the roof except when I found out you have to keep the cover in the boot extended or the roof won’t work. I have replaced all the discs and pads, and last week the heater blower which is a known problem with these. For £1000 though you will have paint issues as I have, and I don’t think you’ll find the manual version for this price as they’re quite rare. Anyway, as usual, a great video.
Sick video bro Liked and Subscribed 😎 Keep up the good work 👏🏽
It's amazing what you can get for under a grand, there were a couple of surprises in that list.
I recently bought a 2006 Rav4 2.0 vvti for £500. Cracking rural motor, although I've just driven it 730 miles in 18hrs, including rest stops and it's good for sleeping in 👍
Just picked up a Toyota Yaris T Sport for £1000 and haven't had this much fun driving for a long time
Ah mate such a great car, would have included in this video but I put it in my £2,000 video!
WHt other cars have you driven?
@@akbarmirza4217 last two cars were an E-Class and a Fabia VRS. The E-Class was a lot quicker than the T Sport but the way the T Sport handles just makes it 10 times more fun to drive.
@@14mickoshnicko yeah I went for a send yesterday in the Birmingham twisties t sport with kakimoto exhaust its so beautiful, very light car itts not very dialed or confidence inspiring but its a lot of fun it darts out of corners n I like feeling the revs n rev banging
I did enjoy it thanks
Probably my favourite video you’ve done in months!
@Pînned by RUN GUYS I told you pls stop
C2 VTS is a good shout as well. 125BHP, quite light, short gear ratios, handles like crazy. Also anything with a 1.9TDI PD can be fun as well, due to how easy they are to tune and produce big power
V good video thanks
3:25 I’ve just bought one these for my first car decked out with optional extras with lowish miles for the age, I would recommend one of these 100%. The gear boxes aren’t the most reliable I’ll agree but are cheap and can get a full gearbox for like £100. They are high quality cars and are a must to own. So JB if you read this, the mini should definitely be in mind
Nothing wrong with MGF cooling (once bled, which granted, is a pain) - the K-Series head gasket issue is down to plastic head locating dowels fitted at the factory. Once these have been replaced with stainless alternative and a decent multi-layered steel gasket they're never a problem again!
I managed to get an X Type 3.0 Manual for £320, cost £100 to put through MOT, with no issues other than an intermittent ABS light. Great fun. Lots of leather too!
I once compared the key specs of a BMW 320d Compact which, when given a generic remap, has performance on a par with the early E-type jag - I kid you not ! And 60mpg economy with the run-out 6 speed version.
Greetings from Germany, i got a Suzuki Swift Sport (2009), they are absolut fun and also reliable af. But in Germany they are way more expensive.
Long time no view. A classic old car vid would be good. Love this vid
I’ll see what I can do!
Yo man I have to say that I love ur car vids, been watching since day man! But I need to ask which vid was the one with a cla45 amg?? Jus would like to know
I bought a Merc S350 following your recommendation for best depreciated luxury car, think I might have to follow your no 1 again for a bit of fun while the S Is tucked up for winter...
I'd highly recommend the Citroen C2, specifically the Code variant! For the money there aren't many better options.
It's got a 1.6 engine pushing 125bhp with a nice wide torque band, heated tan leather front seats, tan leather door cards and rear seats, cracking handling and some other great features. Super simple to work on, the engines are strong, they handle like wee go-karts and they frequently pop up on autotrader for less than £1k.
Check out jay em on cars review of the code.....he agrees
@@simonstyles4536 Already watched it! He does brilliant reviews, and I was reminded of the C2 because of his video
Saxo vtr is a better choice
@@jessbrown5514 yeh where you getting a VTR for under £1,000?
@@disobeytoday4685 paid that for mine last year, although prices have gone uo loads siince then..
I love the little 1.3 Toyota starlet
I've had a few X-types a work mate asked what's it like, I said you get in your car & drive home, I get in the Jag & everything just mellows out & relaxes.
Enjoyed seeing and commentary on these EU Vehicles, even tho I'm not in the market for them and living in the USA. Thanks JB!
I’d go for a 2002/2003 VW golf GT diesel Turbo with the 150bhp. Their cheap as their now old and tend to have high mileage, but they shift, handle like a go kart and well built, although they are known for rusting at the top of the wing. I had one paid £850 for a cheap run around when I was skint. It had 209,000 miles on the clock, but in the two years I had it, it never let me down once, and boy did it go like the clappers!
Omg the one I've been waiting for lol
Hope it’s helpful!
@@CarsWithJB Your videos always are in some way
My max budget is probably 1250 pounds after you look at insurance and road tax plus petrol
What's your budget
Boom 💥 jp was settled down with takeaway and beer 🍻 then this to watch great night in now 💯🍺
I just bought a silk for a winter project for next summer 👌🏻
Thanks!
Magical ☮️👍
I got my 2008 Alfa GT for £1000. Literally the best deal on the planet..great fun. Fast, beautiful and becoming a rare car and a future classic. Especially the 3.2 V6. These are harder to find so cheap but my 2.0 petrol one is awesome fun and only 100k on the clock. Spent 300 on coil packs and proper oil and plugs from Alfa Romeo..beware of cars that have non genuine parts fitted. Cam belt needs changing every 30k.. so a proper sports car.
I Just got my First car for 800CHF (~720€) and It Is such a great car. Its a 2001 Renault Laguna II and It litteraly feels like a ten years old car. My dad also said that he was surprised by the quality and the technology a such old car has.
With just some little modifications it can become a very cool car :)
Nice list, only car I might have added is the Citroen C2 VTS/Code
I’d personally take the 1.7 Puma over the KA. Without a doubt one of the funnest cars to drive that I’ve owned, and the engine just revs and revs! Can pick them up for under £1k with a half decent MOT, starting to go up in price though.
(Was also Top Gear’s car of the year in 1996)
Think I would go for the Mr2 or the 206 both beauties and future classics.
Both fair shouts! MR2 would be less of a headache 🤙🏽
Pd130 bora. Bought one last year for 750 quid with 162k miles on it. Its my current project. Decent remap can get 170 bhp out of it.
Doing upgrading the intercooler and piping aswell as egr delete and then remap end of the month
My dad brought a 2002 Ford mondeo 2.5l v6 for £300 it was an amazing car bloody quick and comfortable leather seats and everything for £300
I always think the MGF is underrated and the TF looks better than the MR2MK3
Yeah I definitely agree, properly classic little car!
Doesn’t cost too much to get the uprated Land Rover head gasket on it too meaning it should be less of a problem :)
@@njp2k914 It's probable that all of MGF and MGTF still around already have the new head gasket with steel seal because the original one is already dead.
I used to own a Rover 25 with a 1.6 K series engine, I bought it used at 70 k miles and always paid attention to oil and coolant, but still the head gasket failed at around 75k miles, I had it repaired and afterwards I used the car for years without any engine issues.
For me it has to be Volkswagen polo really reliable car great content mate keep them coming🤘🏿💯
2nd hand Jaguar is interesting, a true lux car on the cheap. Although for regular day use I'd go for Mini or Peugeot.
MK4 Golf 1.9 TDI ( _PD_ engine ) is a good shout, along with its other shared platforms;
_Seat Leon MK1_
_Volkswagen Bora_
_Skoda Octavia MK1_
You might also be able to find an old Audi with a PD motor for under 1k, or a Polo/Fabia.
The older ones without pd were alot better
I got a Vauxhall Astra mk4 convertible for last then a grand over a year ago and it still makes me smile
That model MR2 really should've come with the 1.8 2ZZ engine that was in the Corolla Tsport or the supercharged engine that came in the Corolla Tsport compressor.
I just picked up a B6 Audi A4 2.5 TDI V6 Quattro, 180bhp, only paid £400 for it as it needed new battery and rear caliper. All sorted now and drives amazing at 250k miles 🤣
I agree with the SLK, loved mine, but guaranteed if you find one for a grand it'll be rusting in every possible way a car can rust, and if it's not rusty when you buy it, it will be soon. Hard enough to find an R170 for any price that isn't at least half rotten these days.
I'd like to reccomend celica on this list. Basicaly a fwd MR-S but with 4 seats, and a decently sized boot. Got one for 1295, though there are many under a grand.
Golf Mk4 1.8T Good solid motor 💪🏽
Thanks jb
I got a lovely little Ford puma with the 1.7 Yamaha developed engine. It was so much fun - loved to be revved and had plenty of road fill. Unfortunately the fun ended when the MOT inspector discovered £900 worth of rust.
I bought a 320i for £300 nearly 3 years ago, I've still got it and it's still amazing fun! 👌
i’m liking the J-Beard
Haha I’m a mess 🤪
I got a smart forfour 1.5 AMT £800. 6speed box , paddle shift gearchange ,fast and very fun to drive.
Always loved a 206 gti 180, had a 1.4 206 was fun little car
Yeah definitely a nice little car!
@@CarsWithJB I own a civic now so I can’t go back aha
The celica is a great choice! Same engine as the MR2 and slightly cheaper
Volvo S60 T5 sounds promising too; I saw one go recently for 995.
Hi mate you should do a similar video for this, saloons, estates that are all ulez compliant
Jb, whats the best and cheapest v8 to buy right now?
Out of those, would have to be the MR2 or E46 for me
I really think the 1.7 puma needed a place in this list . If not the number 1 spot.
Suzuki swift - what an underated car!
I picked up a 1.8t quattro a3 (180bhp) for 750, great fun to drive, came with a few issues but nothing crazy
Update Rip audi, she is dearly missed
@@2sik_UK what happened??
I had an mgtf it was my first car it was great fun but the alarms are expensive and the engines go after 65k on queue it will happen at 80k its a short fuse time bomb
Could you do cheap, good looking, decent powered, decent mpg cars which are ULEZ friendly? A long stretch but with this charge extending very soon I might sadly have to sell my diesel and look for something a petrol but sporty looking
ULEZ video is hopefully gunna be dropping in the next couple of weeks!
Welcome Back
🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Wow you replied big fan
@@HUFCMDV appreciate it!
A bit surprised not to see the mk1 TT
You forget the Opel Astra G. I bought my 1999 1.7 DTi one for 820£ (before brexit) and it's an very interesting car.
In my model, I could twin turbocharge it, mess around with the ECU with an 21£ tool from aliexpress and also make a lot of interesting modifications.
I don't recommend the models with auto trans. .
The gasoline models are also great but I find that the Diesel models are more reliable. I bought it with 138k km. and currently I'm getting to the 500k km mark.
The only thing that failed on me was the head gasket seal and this caused a bit of problems. Basically the oil got into the cooling system and I had to replace the coolant container and flush the whole cooling system with an special fluid from the polish company K2 in order to fix that problem but hey, the whole repair costed me 180£ and I'm most certain this wasn't caused by the twin turbos since the car had an factory head gasket that got really crunchy over the years.
Also I owned an 1999 Audi a6 avant with the 2.5 TDI V6 engine and an quattro setup (4x4). It had an factory air suspension, had an very amazing sound and it was an very fun car to drive.
The only issue that I experienced, was an oil leak which required me to remove the gearbox, parts of the suspension and the oil pan. It was an pain in the A$$ to do but this car lasted quite long.. well, until I crashed it into an deer and rolled into an lake. Well, crap happens but if I would need an new car then I would buy that a6 avant with the same engine again.
I paid for it 698£ and it looked terible. Paint on the seats, a lot of scratches on the paintjob and the back seat row was ruined but from the mechanical point, it was in perfect condition.
For 1k i'd probably get a Citroen Saxo VTS if i can find one.
I have that same engine from the VTS inside of my Berlingo, so i am rather fimiliar with that.
However it would be interesting to see that engine in a much much lighter and more nimble Chassis
Can only dream of these prices in Thailand so enjoy you lucky people.
❤️
I would like to say instead of the x type I would put the Mondeo st, I payed £600 for mine and it’s been perfect only issue being my door handle
I tried to fit the Mondeo in but just couldn’t find any available!
They are hard to find and only getting rarer, I think I was very lucky with my find
@@CarsWithJB I just bought a 2003 Jaguar X type 2.5 AWD automatic with 54000 miles on it and a one owner
damn i wish that cars on my country would be that cheap, like almost every car on this video is at least 2000€ or more. Just month ago i buy myself 2004 mondeo st at price 2700€. I have never been fan of ford but this mondeo is really fun car
Ive got a 2002 slk 230 kompressor that I bought for 800 pounds its only had 1 owner and there is absolutely no problems with the car. It doesnt even have a scratch on it.
I like that all these cars are like 4-6k€ in Portugal
Yo guys my 2010 Renault Megane 2litre the amber engine light comes on the dash then disappears when I drive? Ride has also become bumpy, any ideas of what it could be and how much to expect, don’t wanna go to a mechanic blind? Appreciate any help
I will never forget when I bought just for fun E46 328i for just 500:) That car was a blast anytime it started to rain:) Even though I have faster cars I swear there is nothing more fun in the world for 500 pounds:))
I'd get the Mercedes. Second choice would be the MX5, then the Jag, then the MG.
Can you please make a vid on suv/4x4. I’m in the market for one, preferably under 10k
I bought a scruffy MK4 Golf PD150 GTD with a full MOT and remap for £800 this summer. I could have just used as was but I uprated the brakes and suspension, replaced engine mounts, CV joint, wheel bearings and lots of bushes as well as bought new tyres. It now stands me at around 2200 but it won't need a cam belt for another 40,000 miles and is how I want it now. In the past I would have run it for the year then scrapped but my days of driving with bouncy suspension, suspect brakes and lots of knocks are over.
Brilliant car I bought 1 for £13000 4 month old in 2001 garage demonstrator kpt it 4 years bought a 2002 slk hated it as it guzzled petrol went and bought another GT TDI this time a 52 plate with 90,000 miles 1 owner but a 130 kept it 7 years until I had it nicked and written off coppers caught the kids now I'm in my 50s not so bothered about cars and don't spend much on them I've an 06 chilli mini cooper everything black .so I've a car 5 years newer than a brand new car I bought in 2001
Infact think I'm going to look out for an o4 150
If I would be looking for a future classic for this budget it would have to be the ford puma 1.7 great engine and even better handling , have seen them for under £1000 and yes rust is an issue but it's a ford !
Hey, you’re videos are great, keep up the great work. Want a challenge? Here’s one…cheap to run (inc insurance) NOT diesel and with enough space to get some shopping or a couple of suitcases. Price? £5k, £3k you decide. DF
Mk1 skoda octavia vrs if it was me, great video
One of my fav diesels!
@@CarsWithJB thats the mk2, mk1 came with the 1.8t 180bhp both are great cars 👍
Where are you finding MR 2's for under 1k? I'm only finding pre 2003 models at under 2k and post 2003 are around 3-5k. Would love to grab a 2003+ one for under 2k
Mk4 golf R32 is my second favourite golf
Are you talking about showroom price? I am from India, and I am interest in Mini Cooper or BMW E46 so How can I buy it...please guide
Supprised you didnt put the z3 on the list. Although, i would be worried. But a better base than a 318i.
Alfa Romeo GT just unbelievably fun to drive
I’d pick a BMW E46 because of the rwd layout, and maybe future classic status.
And the infinite oil leak and repairs
You should do a best family car that’s fun
What's your opinion about a VR5 golf in the 1k - 2k price range?? NOT the VR6.. please let me know
Without question a Saab 95 Aero. Nothing touches it.
6:28 Here What You've Been Searching For "BMW 3 Series E46"
Big old Lexus are cheap now but like the BMW e34....price appreciate. An old gs300...good investment
2jz engine.. like the way you're thinking
