  • My name is Gordon, I sold my house and bought an RV to travel the lower 48 states. I make video's to bring you along with me and my four legged conpanion Lucy, on Adventures, sharing the challenges and triumps, through an inspirations. My goal is to inspire, to demonstrate how anyone who has the desire and the where with all can make this, or any dream come true.

Served at NAS Mayport 1985-1989. All 4 years assigned to the Calibration Lab. Visited the carriers Saratoga and Forrestal to pick up or deliver equipment, but never had to serve at sea. All 4 years shore duty.
I’m proud of my service and appreciate all the fellow Squids and Squidlets that I served alongside.

This really brought back a lot of memories for me. I was stationed here from 1987-1990 on board the USS Saratoga as a jet mechanic in the engine shop on the fantail and I did one Medditerrian cruise in 87 ! I just moved back to Jacksonville with a new job and I'm going to look at a really nice development near the base to maybe live at ! Thanks for making this video possible to view for others !

I was born at Mayport, my father was stationed there with the navy, we lived in Westside Jax. Right down the street from Ronnie van Zant and the rest of lynyrd skynyrd were always there. I was in the hospital at Mayport for 2 months for a bull shark bite /attack of my leg and very nearly lost it because of an infection, I was attacked in the waves of Jax Beach, surfing one day but there were hundreds of people there, always. But we'd wait for my father to come back home from sea trials and deployment over seas many times. It was fun exploring all over the ships. Good ole Mayport .

In the early 60's we would drive to Mayport to meet my father coming in on the U.S.S. Saratoga. We stayed at the Salt Air Motel in Jax Beach which I believe is still there.

It is a Sikorsky SH-60B Seahawk. Same airframe as a Blackhawk, but outfitted for ship launches and recoveries. Notice the position of the tail wheel. It’s much farther forward. The missions are different, equipped with anti-submarine warfare and detection, shielded wiring where blackhawks are not. And not machine guns, those are pitot tubes for detecting airspeed. The missile is actually air to surface torpedo. I was stationed there and worked on these birds a long time and took them to the Desert Storm war twice.
