Why doesn't this have more views?? The production value is so CLEAN! (Also I love how the reflection of the lights in your glasses look like googley eyes :D )
@Gye Nyame Dragon honestly I am European and I enjoy his videos because tbh I never really got to learn a whole lot about Africa. I learned about major events and stuff like European colonization but I never really get an in-depth lesson about Africa.
@Gye Nyame Dragon I know and that is why I made that comment. Not many of the people I know are very interested in Africa and most people who are European are the same. I find it weird and just stupid how people may not like others because of skin and heritage. And with all the things going on today, racism might even get worse or last long. Some white people don’t like black people and some black people don’t like white people. There are also people who did nothing but still get in the mix. Hopefully we can push our histories and differences aside and finally end this nonsense.
I love nigerian history, and I'm always looking for more things to learn about my culture since I left Nigeria long ago. I can't believe I'm just now finding your videos! Thank you!!
Wow. Thanks for sharing ur knowledge brother. Was Cape Verde part of the Mali Empire? Amilcar Cabral said that we (Cape Verdeans) and Guine Bissau people share the same story. Just wanted to have an idea of how deep are the roots of these two countries.
To answer your question, no. I'm part Cape Verdean as well. We do however descend from some people who were very likely part of the Mali Empire. Many of the enslaved peoples that the Portuguese brought to the islands of Cape Verde very likely descended from people from the Mali Empire. That's what Cabral likely meant by that. But the islands were never part of Mali. As you know most of us are mixed with various African peoples from that area and the Portuguese/Spanish.
Yeah im aware of the role as well as their modus operandi used in the race-breeding (Creoule). However, in this context i am seeking only the Afrikan roots.
Many will say The Mali Empire was only big because it was influenced by Arabs yet if that is true then The Arab World should have been wealthier then all of Mali at the time
@Adrian Bradey What you said is true. In history development is a mix of exchange/acquisition of information + modern indigenous ingenuity. Greeks adopted alot from Egyptians, the Romans adopted a lot from the Greeks. The Islamic golden age was built on ancient Greco-Roman and Persian knowledge. But i understand where matthew mann is coming from. If you look at comments in anything concerning African history it always attracts racist who try to devalue African civilizations like the Malian empire by saying everything good about them came from the Arabs. The Malians did adopt from the Arabs but they incorporated it into their culture. Their architecture and culture was still originally African.
@Adrian Bradey - Mandenka civilization was great long before our first interaction with Arabs. Mandenka people were building large city/states in what we now know as southern Mauritania, in 2,000 B.C., or even earlier. But in the later years, if we adopted things from Arabs, who cares? I agree with you. It does not matter. However, people know nothing of our history, which is sometimes frustrating. But I did like this video. It was done accurately, and with respect.
The Mande Kingdoms were already large before any damn Arabs. They established Walata (Piru) and other trade cities in Mauritania long before meeting any smelly Arabs. The Mande people were also Part of the Maa Confederation.
@Fatimaxn Barry what's brings fulani and wolof into this? Or do you want me to know you speak those languages??? Do you know how many languages i speak?

Because it is African history. There is a bias against people of African descent in the world.

By the way, which family are you from? I descend from the Cruz/DaCruz family in Santo Antao, Sao Nicolau, and Boa Vista.
One of the natural resources was Salt. I thought probably they used these Islands (the Sal/Salt Island to extract this precious resource.
Yeah im aware of the role as well as their modus operandi used in the race-breeding (Creoule). However, in this context i am seeking only the Afrikan roots.

One unique thing about manding speaking people being it mandingo and their delec being it banbarang in mali, djuala ivory coast and Manlinke Guinea and liberia is counting 1 to 100
Maybe we should study their system more. It looks like they successfully managed an area larger than Nigeria for more than 400 years.
Where can I get that book you keep reading
