- You would think Super Mario Run speedruns would be simple, since it's a pretty simple game. But the speedrun actually involves a lot of complicated strats, and it's much harder than you might think

Hey EZ. Love the vid. If you do something like this again though, the bottom 20% of the screen isn't ever showing anything and could be cropped to make the rest of the action more zoomed in and easier to see. Just some feedback, great run!

I played this game for the entirety of my high school senior year when I had nothing to do during class. 100% the story and collecting 10,000 toads in PvP made this game the best $5 I ever spent.

I believe on the first level is free. Then you have to pay 5 dollars for the whole thing and that was surprisingly cheap at the time.

@@ClemenDawg it was on sale when I got it. Even now, the idea of a mobile game going on sale is such a weird thing to me though. But then again, most mobile games aren't a single payment for the entire thing.

This was literally the funnest 2D Mario I've ever played.
The thing where you spend a ticket and race against others was fun as hell. The level design is amazing, leading to extremely smooth and satisfying runs if you play well enough.
Criminally underrated app.

See, I want to counter the first two sentences of this comment with SMM2 Multiplayer Versus, but every other level in that game reminds me why the Mario fanbase should've never been trusted with a level editor.
The fact that _Toad_ is the fastest character in the game is hysterical tbh
This is the only mario game I have EVER PLAYED and it is really special to me, so to see some one play it really means a lot to me
What did you expect? *ANY* type of Mario speedrun would be complex in one way or another.
At 1:19, you can preserve more momentum right after sliding down slopes by doing a spin right after you jump, but it has to be only a couple of frames later or you will lose momentum. In 1:45, it might actually be better to lightly tap the screen to jump on the goomba and preserve more momentum from the little boost tiles. In 1:54 you will preserve a LOT of momentum by jumping maybe 1 or 2 frames after you land, however doing that here might cause you to bump into the question blocks or hit the one with the bubble.

I love that Speezy uses the subtle intonation for 'goom-ba' that makes it clear he's using the Italian insult and not the monster name.
The whole “fake free” thing was super scummy, but the game itself being really good almost makes up for it
Guess I'm the first human comment you'll get. I think the game shouldn't have cost as much as it did. $10 seems way too much for what is basically your average platforming mobile game with Mario slapped on.
It's a free demo for a paid game, I don't see anything wrong with it. Those that have you download it for free then ask you to pay without letting you do anything are scummy.

Fun fact: if you time a tap right when you jump over an enemy or tiny elevated ledge you do some sick parkour that may be faster than jumping on enemies.
13:10 Actually, the Magikoopas are the ones who make any enemies look like Bowser, this is shown in a lot of games like New Super Mario Bros 1 and 2 and Super Mario 3D land, just to name a few, or just Bowsers magic, though it isn't shown much.
14:35 Also those "Monty moles that throw wrenches" are actually their own enemy, Rocky Wrenches, and they're confirmed to not be Monty Moles canonically.
Mario Run makes me sad, it's such a fun game but it becomes useless after a while if you don't have money to spend on it.

Have you considered Speedruning the game "checkpoint"? I feel like a minimum deaths run would be pretty fun to see.

Sometime in the future you should do a skylanders speedrun, its one of my favorite game series, it was discontinued and i dont think it gets enough attention now, it would be so cool to see one of my favorite youtubers speedrun skylanders

Ayyyy recognition for Mario Run! It probably sounds crazy, but this is where I started, and now I have a heckin’ Switch.

I remember the monetizing the shit out of this game, but Nintendo does that with alot of these games.
1-1 star, you can get it pretty easy as Mario, but with toad, that’s understandable. 6-airship, the Monty moles are not random thankfully and same thing for the ninjis from 2-airship and 4-airship is the same as well, but it is a little bit rng if they jump or not.

The official story is that Bowser used Dark magic to turn toads in to bricks and disguise some of his solgers as himself
Fun fact: Those are rocky wrenches, not monty moles. You can tell the difference because monty moles pop out of the ground and are a nuisance, and rocky wrenches throw wrenches at you like they're trying to train you for a dodgeball competition.

3-3 has a trick on the first green Koopa kick the shell and on the next 2 boost pads press after getting almost off the first one
