  • Metabolic Panel (CMP and BMP) interpretation for Nurses and Nurse Practitioners
Lab interpretation can be difficult for many of us new Nurse Practitioner and nurses, so in today's video I am sharing how I look at my patients labs in the nursing home setting. The nursing home setting is very limited in how I can treat patients, so I am sharing how I manage them in this setting. Complete Metabolic Panel is consisted of CMP or BMP and I am giving a quick look into how I manage my patients when I check a CMP or a BMP.

I’m a medical laboratory scientist (med tech/lab tech, etc.) and we know every lab test a doctor can order, as to why they would order it, what affects them, the diseases related to these labs, pathophysiology, etc.
Getting my bachelors in medical lab science really helped me through PA school considering i already knew everything about labs and how they correlate with disease processes in a patient.

Thank you. I really appreciate this video. I learned a lot because you simplified these lab values and related it to cause as well as possible remedies. If you don’t mind, please keep your videos largely/mainly on educational and professional content. Thank you.

I wish I has something like this years ago! You have no idea how helpful these videos are. I am so thankful . It really helps me understand what my physicians and Nps are looking for and why they do what they do. Makes me feel so much more comfortable when reaching out to them. God bless you! 🤗🤗🤗#lpn

Hi Miss, I love your videos, especially this one. Did I misunderstand or did you say there is a part II to regarding the BMP. I can’t find it. Again, thanks for taking the time to explain things so well ♥️

Please remember, venous CO2 actually reflects bicarb. This not necessarily tell you about hypercapnia unless the patient has metabolic compensation for respiratory acidosis. CO2 tells you more about possible causes of acidosis by calculating anion gap.
