It's my first day in Yerevan and first experience of Armenia! After trying some of the local Armenian food, getting out into the coutryside and beginning our hike, here are my first impressions.

I just came back from a month-long trip to Armenia, and all I can say is that one can never get enough of this beautiful country. Amazing country, I love Armenia and Armenian people! And I've no doubt that you're gonna love this country as much as I did.

64Say: "Is it some one other than Allah that ye order me to worship, O ye ignorant ones?"
وَلَقَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشْرَكْتَ لَيَحْبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
65But it has already been revealed to thee,- as it was to those before thee,- "If thou wert to join (gods with Allah), truly fruitless will be thy work (in life), and thou wilt surely be in the ranks of those who lose (all spiritual good)".
بَلِ اللَّهَ فَاعْبُدْ وَكُنْ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ
66Nay, but worship Allah, and be of those who give thanks.
وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ وَالْأَرْضُ جَمِيعًا قَبْضَتُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَالسَّمَاوَاتُ مَطْوِيَّاتٌ بِيَمِينِهِ ۚ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
67No just estimate have they made of Allah, such as is due to Him: On the Day of Judgment the whole of the earth will be but His handful, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand: Glory to Him! High is He above the Partners they attribute to Him!

I am Armenian and travelled to Yerevan two weeks ago with my family. It's such a beautiful country, the people are very warm and friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. I met many beautiful people there, which I am still keeping in touch. 1. In Armenian the last colour of the flag is actually called "apricot colour" -tziranaguyn. We say "karmir, kapuit, tziranaguyn" - "red, blue, colour of apricot." Scientific name of Apricot is Prunus Armeniaca (Armenian plum).
2. The war they are talking about is Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) liberation war launched by Azerbaijan (ethnic Turks) against Armenians of Artsakh province of historic Armenia. By the time Azerbaijan was 9 mln and Artsakh was only 100.000 Armenians and was cut of the rest of Armenia. By the time rest of Armenia was able to reach for help and get through the blockage Stepanakert (Artsakh's capital city) and villages were heavily bombed. 5 years of war and Artsakh is free preventing another Genocide done by the Turks. Artsakh is possibly the most beautiful part of Armenia.

@@missbooklover5476 No. Ottoman Turks invaded Armenian Highlands with Genocides and appropriating material and cultural heritage of Armenians only in 11 century and Azerbaijanis are their descendants, even younger. And Genocide is not two ways and if in some cases Armenians managed to defend themselves it doesn't equal "killings". ISIS and Christians killed by them is not the same even if in some cases Christians manage to kill their killers. Turkey=ISIS, Azerbaijan=ISIS.

Salina Turda -Cluj , one of the beautiful salt mine in the world...Transafagarasan.. the best road the height in the world...The Palace of the Parliament of Romania in Bucharest , the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon....and many castles ( Bran (Dracula Castle), Peles, Corvinilor )..etc

Apricots are huge thing in Armenia, that's true; but that's like saying that corn is huge in Mexico or potatoes are huge in Peru and Bolivia. The point is that Apricot is an Armenian fruit (same goes for grapes), and it is one of the symbols of the country and the Armenian people. In fact, if you look up the scientific name for apricots (Prunus Armeniaca - Armenian plum), it speaks to the origins of the fruit and its popularity in Armenian culture. So, yes, you're right, and there's no need to be surprised about it, since it is not a coincidence:)))

65But it has already been revealed to thee,- as it was to those before thee,- "If thou wert to join (gods with Allah), truly fruitless will be thy work (in life), and thou wilt surely be in the ranks of those who lose (all spiritual good)".

66Nay, but worship Allah, and be of those who give thanks.

Travelling to Yerevan from Tbilisi in 1979: the bus-trip took about seven hours. The Bible-lands opened-up before me. I look back with wonderful memories and a warmth inside my heart as I experience on demand, the exceptional journeys of others when they also trek those lands. Amazing technology has allowed this, but a great deal of water has gone under the bridge since more than forty years has passed; but my mind is still clear enough to recall those endearing experiences that I treasure greater than a King’s ransom.
