Thank you again for making this series of videos. I'm sure work would progress more quickly if you weren't filming and editing. But I'm learning a lot and appreciate the time you are taking to film the project.
You are very good at explaining what you do.!!! Oh gee I remember back in the day my oldest son and I dug the footer for our porch (10 x 20) by hand~~~~shovel by shovel....LOL..He is now over 50 years of age but still talks about us doing that....(Me and Mom gotter done)...LOL
I have no plans on building, but do I ever find this interesting. Such a process to get to the point of even starting the build. Thanks for taking us along. God Bless. 💝
So exciting to get your new room! It will make such a difference moving the washer and dryer to the new room. And a new kitchen too and all before the holidays!
“Its just a hair out of square” borrowed from you-tubes “Trent and Allie” The new addition will be better built than the older original house, because you are a perfectionist👍🏻😁
It's good to see you standing inside the foundation to give us an accurate view of how big that space really is. Man, this addition is going to add so much room! And yes, Bill, the shovel work - UGH! Even though we have sandy soil instead of clay, still, THE SHOVELING - Ugh. I'm cheering you on! (Rah rah! Go Bill!)
Gosh, that was a loud birdy, singing it's little heart out while you worked! I am fascinated at how American houses are built because you use totally different methods to those here in the UK, where houses are built with a concrete base, breeze block wall, then a cavity space, then bricks on the outside. Internal walls are usually stud walls, although not always. My own house has solid brick internal walls, too. Siding isn't a thing in the UK. Love your videos, btw! x
In America, we build almost everything (at least residential) out of wood. I know, we lived in Germany for 3 years, and almost everything is Europe is built with some type of masonry. Keep watching our videos and you'll see the entire process of building a house here in America.
Great job Bill. Love the bender for rebar. I thought about how sunscreen and a sun hat would help you deal with the hottest month of the year Bill :) Can't wait to check out the concrete pour. Birds were there cheering you on :) and Great Job Elizabeth :)
I enjoy your building videos super much. Don't worry I also enjoy the travel videos. Good job as usual!!!!!! If you would ever like to teach someone how to build a tiny house I would like to do so. AZ location. I just thought I would offer in case one day you get bored. I do know how many plans you have. But just in case. 😂 😂
excus me Sir, before laying the foundation frame, the ground must be compacted and paved with bricks or fine gravel and tamped again to ensure that the footers(the foundations) doesn't sink in the future when it has to carry the roof ...
I got use to using a water level for forms if alone, set the height on the bucket and walk around with the sight glass end to make all points level. Different strokes... 8-)
Bill, I have a side question..or anyone here may help. I have a dewalt drill.both batteries are dead. how do I tell if it is the batteries no longer taking a charge or the charger no longer functioning? everything on video shows doing mechanical things-tear apart and stuff. do you think Lowes will help if I bring it there? should I buy a new charger first?
When you charge the batteries, does it hold ANY charge at all? Unfortunately, you'll probably find that if you try to buy new batteries, it'll only cost you a few dollars less than buying a whole new drill! Lowes won't help. They are a retailer, not a repair shop.
seems like too much work when you could be camping. Too bad you couldn't have found a way to stay in the same sq footage. Living simple, and all that. I don't mean this as a criticism as I enjoy watching you work and admire your thoroughness. I know this addition will be wonderful.
Living simple isn’t about being a minimalist, it’s about remaining debt free - which we are doing. This addition will make it possible for Elizabeth to entertain in her new kitchen/dining room.
Thank you LORD for Elizabeth's wonderful husband Bill, bless his back and keep him strong. We are all 🙏ing for you!!!!
You have done that before. You know what you are doing.👍
I love listening to all the birds chirping away in this video!
One thing I like about you, Bill, is when you start a project, you GET ‘ER DONE!!! And I’m sure Elizabeth does too!!! ❤️
Very very interesting!! Thanks for taking us along, bill!! Hello to elizabeth!!! ☺ hi to LEO!! ☺ See u soon!
Think of how nice and practical having a new room will be. Your patience Bill is a quality you have
With doing projects that I wish I had.
Elizabeth is a good measurer! When i was married i would tell my husband " it measures 6 feet and 1 inch plus 2 little lines".
Definitely one of the most watchable channels on RUclips 😊.
Wow. Thank you very much!

Yes, filming slows the work down considerably. I think most people don't realize that, and just take the video for granted!

It’s nice to learn about how all of this is done and what’s actually involved!
Not as simple as some may think!😊
Thanks and God Bless🙏

Wow the birds were really singing while you were tying the rebar.

I am so happy to be watching how you and Ms. Elizabeth build your new addition to your home. Be blessed as well
Way to go, Bill! This is really an exciting series. I love all the math involved..
Thanks for bringing us along 🙂
We are really enjoying watching this progress.

GOOD SOLID FOUNDATION, THE BEGINNING OF A WONDERFUL ADDITION
Looks good. Helps to have good skills.
Love you guys, looks good so far,
Good job Elizabeth 👍❤
Elizabeth was so cute using the leveler thing and I laughed when you showed your caked on muddy shoes.
Spray shoes and tools with WD40 before getting into the mud It works great nothing sticks and I just love your videos and Elizabeth is wonderful.
I know nothing about preparing a foundation. This was interesting.
Good ☕️ Morning Bill & Elizabeth,I hope your day is wonderful.Thank you for taking us along on your daily lives! So interesting!👏👍😊

Great video. Learned lots today Bill, you are very intelligent.
Looking forward to the next update Bill and Elizabeth!
I'll definitely pray for ya that everything goes smoothly with the addition project for ya.
Again, so interesting, and I don't mind learning about construction even though I would not be doing any. It's good to be informed.

Excellent!! Interesting to see how the footer is done.
Great work guys 😊
Hi Bill, what is the bird called twittering in the background?
I have no idea. We have LOTS of birds here. But I am not a bird person.
Great job Bill. Love the bender for rebar. I thought about how sunscreen and a sun hat would help you deal with the hottest month of the year Bill :) Can't wait to check out the concrete pour. Birds were there cheering you on :) and Great Job Elizabeth :)
Great video 📹! Looking forward to seeing the next steps! 😊👍💕💕💕
Good job ! God bless you all.
I have learned a lot through this video. Thanks for sharing and God blessings
Enjoyable to watch and learn!

am excited to see it all finished and to see how it opens more space for ya'll's kitchen....God Bless
Shoe covers. I use plastic bags. Good job.
How cool is that twister thingy?! Never saw one before.
There is no rest for you Bill.
excus me Sir, before laying the foundation frame, the ground must be compacted and paved with bricks or fine gravel and tamped again to ensure that the footers(the foundations) doesn't sink in the future when it has to carry the roof ...
The inspector will tell him what needs to be done before pouring the concrete.
Not so. That’’s only if you’re building on backfill. You’re not supposed to build on backfill. You’re supposed to build on UNDISTURBED earth.
@@kathrynb4683 Yes 👍
@@LiveSimpleLiveFree In this case, we must know the load-bearing value (LBV) of the soil on your site ...
I've been building houses for 40 years, in various different states, and I've never been required to do that.
At least you’ve got good drainage. You must not be living near the coast with all that sticky mud. Yuck! 😄
I got use to using a water level for forms if alone, set the height on the bucket and walk around with the sight glass end to make all points level. Different strokes... 8-)
Over here in ☘️🇮🇪 Ireland we would put some Hard ore in William then tamp it down but us Irish never do anything Right lol ur afrtman Bill
Tamping is not necessary if you are putting the footers on undisturbed soil. Tamping is only required if you are building on backfill.
What are you using POP’S room for?
In a recent video, Elizabeth said that now they both have an office. So they repurpose that room
His old room is now my office and recording studio.
How deep are footers required to be in Virginia…it was 45” in Massachusetts..what a nightmare…
In PA where we used to live it was 48". Here in VA it's only 24". These little footers seem "cute" to me!
Wow Bill is there nothin you don't know how to do
Keep well
Sure. Teach a kindergarten class! LOL
@@LiveSimpleLiveFree Lol too funny Bill
😁👌

@@LiveSimpleLiveFree thank you. no -no charge, I will replace the charger and the batteries. thank you.
What kind of bird is singing at 14:40?
I have no idea. I am not a “bird person.” They are beautiful though, aren’t they?
