- Nebraska defender ejected for targeting
Nate Gerry dropped UCLA's Paul Perkins for a short loss, but officials penalized, and later ejected, him for targeting. The Fosters Farms Bowl is tied at 21 at half. Спорт
"Targeting" is quickly becoming "hitting too hard." Football as we know it is over.
Or “ how can we influence the game so my bet pays out” penalty
Say that again-that was a great tackle
As a UCLA fan, this was a BS call
This was a tackle.
And a damn good one
That's a clean hit
Nope
Yup.
4reals it Was a clean hit.. from a USC fan
it looked clean to me too
Jason Alexander yep
Wtf else was he supposed to do...not tackle him?
Exactly bro fuckin football is so sensitive now
Who cares. He's a Husker. Kick him out.
Go4it awwww goo goo ga ga?
@Matt Ford Of course! 😆
Hit and wrap at the midsection like they taught you in pee wees. Why anyone would tackle that high is beyond me.
Gerry was so fast, the lead blockers didn't even notice him flying by haha, excellent tackle, one of the worst calls this year
SXI96 yea i went to the same school with him an he holds all 100 m dash records.
Your damn right he's targeting. See guy with ball, tackle him. That's the goal of the defence right? Duh.
You don't have to look hard to find someone who's truly fed up with targeting.
That call was ridiculous. A textbook tackle and you get thrown out of a game. Lets just play flag football. GBR
Looked like a clean hit.
Hudson it was
It wasn't
@@jasonalexander6417 how?
@@tigerguy1013 He ducked his head and directly hit the other guy in the head. Look at 0:53
@@jasonalexander6417 If you think this was targeting, you sir, are an idiot...I'm sorry, but this is as clean as it gets...At the .53 second mark his head barely even moves & its only because the UCLA receiver crouched a bit as to absorb a hit...ANYONE who thinks this was a penalty is mistaken...He hit him EXACTLY the way he's been coached to do...Period
I don't even know what football is anymore...targetting is such garbage. Get rid of it because they can't ever get it right.
+Tigersfan829 Agreed. Thanks for the B1G love and congrats on your bowl win. Harbaugh is building a monster in AA.
Stevie wonder would be better in the replay booth than the people who reviewed it
+KarzolaTV The rule was changed -- if it's reversed in the booth, the 15 goes away as well, unless there's another foul involved (say, roughing the passer with targeting).
That is a near perfect tackle...stupid refs.
"Personal foul....tackling..."
wtf is this "targeting" bs
ikr it's fucking football ur gonna get fucking hit
Javen-sports,clash royale, CoC and kendama no really like what is the rule i mean i know it's going to be stupid as fuck but i have never heard of this rule
Me neither
Basically you can't hit someone above the shoulder when they are "defenseless"
Anthony Pan ...... I'm done... That's like 70% of all hits ever....
College officiating recruitment: We need more officials!
Random guy with striped shirt: I'm blind, deaf and don't know anything about football.
COR: You're hired!
lol
Bad
Posese Pulu don't see you out there
I always try to see the penalties and decisions from the officials' point-of-view, too, but this was a bad call.
Clean hit
Just because he picked up on the play and did his job, you want to call that "targeting?" Now that's some bullshit right there.
that's a horrible call, the kid came to balance, he had his head up, eyes up, chest up, wrapped up and drove up.... that's a picture perfect tackle..... that is how you teach people to tackle and he was ejected for tackling exactly how you are supposed to do it.... that's straight bullshit.... penalizing and ejecting a kid for the cleanest way to hit.... maybe he shouldn't lowered his head and gone in out of control and risked breaking his neck or he could've dived and missed or hyperextended the RBs leg.
+Curtis Decker i agree with the bad call, but no...lol that was an awful tackle lmfao he was wayyyyyyy to high, shoulda been lower, he didnt "square up" at all idk what you saw there and he didnt drive either... wtf, did you watch the same video?...haha
+JuKe4BoX4hErO that's why the NCAA fined the officiating crew?
+Curtis Decker Well, actually you want him to drive through, not up. Driving up really makes no sense but I'm guessing that's what you meant.
Posese Pulu No he meant "up", hit low and drive up takes his feet off the ground(that's textbook). Most RBs have elusiveness and balance, so running through them puts em on skates able to shift out breaking the tackle and puts you on your knees dragging(poor technique).
What the hell did he get penalized for? Doing his job?
I know right
That was a horrible call! Football has become a joke now, might as well be flag football.
+Joey Grajeda funny thing is, I play in a flag football league where I get hit harder than this hahaa
+The YugiBros bwhahhahahahahahaha wait....bwhahahahahaahahahahaha stop you are going to make me pee my pants.....bwhahhhhaahaa flag football getting hit harder than that......bwhahahha
That was a textbook way to tackle. No targeting.
give me back the days of Terry Bradshaw. when men played football, and Larry Zonka
zonka....
It'd be more accurate to say "men reffed football"
Fucking hell !! Just put a goddamn dress on 'em. Football used to be fun to watch.
This is one of the times when there’s incidental helmet-to-helmet contact. If I’m the covering official and I’m asked why I didn’t throw flag I’d say this “he never led with the crown, his face mask was up the whole time and the shoulders made contact first then the helmets collided”
And the fact that the call was “confirmed” (confirmed and stands are two different meanings) shows how broken this rule is
2 hand touch is next
It's gonna take several ACL/MCL tears to revisit how this penalty is assessed...
That was definitely a clean hit they just wanted him out the game
This is one of the top 3 worst calls in the history of football, period. Clean hit, legal hit.
Just because he made a loud sound while tackling him, they gave him a penalty. Terrible call
they teach kids to tackle with their head up now...that was a perfect example of how you do it and he gets ejected!! rediculous!!!
So I guess no tackling in football anymore?
That should cut down on concussions...
Just they're going with 2 hand touch now
Wow wow there. 2 hand touch might lead to shoving which could lead to a concussion,
If anyone was guilty off lowering and leading with the helmet, it was the ball carrier. This is the clearest definition of a form tackle as I have ever seen. Defender led with his shoulder, wrapped up, placed his head upfield of the ball carrier and drove him to the ground!! Clean hit!!
That is ridiculous. I guess we're just playing two hand touch football from now on.
I believe that is called "football."
I'm just glad I was able to deliver dozens and dozens of hits like that playing in the mid-1970s ......... and was praised on every one !!!!! oorahhhh!!!
Wtf ! That's a good secure tackle
You know it's a bad call when even the announcers don't agree with the penalty.
I truly hope officials who make these horrible calls get beat up by some fans after games. Now THAT would be justice!
I can almost somewhat understand the initial call, but the fact they didn’t reverse it on the replay is absolute bullshit. Even the damn ref was shaking his head on the sidelines when they “confirmed” the call
this was the worst call i have seen this whole football season.
Bad call. That was a CLEAN hit and tackle. No head involved. Lead with his shoulder. No launching. Wrapped up the ball carrier. That was a BAD call.
Clean hit What else does the ref want him to do? They need to clarify the rule.
I swear to God that I disagree with like 90% of targeting calls/ejections. Some of them shouldn't even be personal fouls.
And this one shouldn’t even be a foul in the first place
He got screwed over that call. A clean hit.
Hey Ref …, did he “give him the business” !!!! 🤣😂🤣😂
Head up, wrapped up, shoulder into the ball carrier. WTF.
what a joke. ejection call needs to go
NO WAY and I have been away from school sports for over 60 years....CLEAN HIT boys and girls.....wow!
Ron Cherry was the referee in that game, folks!
0:20 - Referee was Ron Cherry of the ACC, who is now retired!
How are you suppose to tackle and guy anymore? That was a clean hit!
that's what u call a hospital pass
We are almost into ‘Demolition Man’ football where it’s two hand touch.
75% of targeting calls are bullshit. Just hard form tackles.
What was the result of the review? Cause that was a clean tackle, not targeting at all from where i sit.
That call was bogus, that was a clean hit.
let's do away with the targeting aspect and just call it what it is. SPEARING.
The referee is Ron cherry. And of you are in the ACC you know how terrible this ref is.
Referees seriously need to learn what "incidental contact" means.
such a bull shit call
That was forcible hugging.
Thank you for my first laugh of the day!
this whole bowl season had to of been the worst officiating PERIOD.
He turned his head. No way was that a target.
Didnt even play the full video? Was he ejected or not?
how the fuck is that targeting? he didn't even lead with the crown of his helmet?
BS call i wish they just stop selling these things.
So where was the targeting?
Probably the safest a tackle can be lol
Berz - Right?!
Top 3 Cornhuskers Football games I’ve attended!!
That shouldn’t have been a penalty on the Nebraska game.
first contact was his shoulders....bad call
Next up...Two hand touch football!
that some bullshit thats what helmets are for ejecting him really shows that football is a dangerous sport.
We should have the players wear skirts and heels..Jack Lambert
that should not have been called targeting
Helmet to helmet but not targeting. He turned his head to the side. They reviewed it and it stood so hard to argue. Ok all you college referees can come at me.
worst call i have EVER seen
How was Nebraska eligible for a bowl game with 5 wins?!?!?
I know this is an old video, but for those who say this was targeting, it wasn't. Targeting applies when the majority of the impact is absorbed above the shoulders, which was not the case here. Incidental contact isn't targeting
The helmets hit together.
that doesnt matter, he wraps up
Back in the day, we walked to school, uphill, in the snow, barefoot, both ways... and planted our helmets square in their chests!
Ridiculous
Textbook hit. Did not lead with head.
Poor Huskers. Couldn’t happen to a nicer team.
I only watch this on RUclips but didn't see nothing wrong, that's a good football tackl
football keeps getting softer and softer
That was a clean hit nothing illegal there
since when did Hank Aaron switch from baseball ambassador to a football referee
No bashing allowed
Damn. Bad bad call
So we should change the rules to make it more like flag football?
Clean hit what else could he do
That was a terrible call.
And the risk of sounding like my grandfather...
these young kids are soft nowdays!
seriously though, weak call. I played 10 years of ball up through college...that is a good hit everytime
Looked like a clean hit.... even for rugby standards.
That's bs😡
bullshit call !!!!!
Terrible just terrible
Nope, this was NOT targeting! Pussy call
Clean hit. Textbook.
