Yea I couldn’t believe the 2XO was on the allocated table… and I’m in the same state. Central Indiana and its not hard to find that stuff just laying around
Not that I've ever tried any of these, but based on what I've heard about them all, I'm surprised the first guy didn't grab the WLW or the GTS over the Pappy 12 yr Lot B.
My first pick was going to be the Birthday Bourbon then the GT Stagg. I have the GTS and it is extremely good, and I just want the BB. I can understand someone taking the Pappy, just to say they have one.
@@chasingneat I am in Jackson TN! I started hunting about a year ago. I’m a private school teacher, so my budget isn’t high! That’s why I really appreciate these hunting videos as well as the tastings. I don’t want to drop money on something I might not enjoy! Lol
Check out the Benchmarks! We see these everywhere! They are a Buffalo Trace product and in my opinion, better than the standard Buffalo Trace bourbon AND are very affordable. I am a huge fan of the Full Proof and Bottled in Bond...shouldn't be more that $30-$35 each. Cheers! And thank you for your dedication as a teacher!
@@chasingneat I look for them here in TN. My local store has the regular 8 yr old at $11. The full proof is great, and I agree that it is better than Buffalo Trace. I’ll have to keep an eye out for the BIB. Thank you sir! Blessings to you and yours!
Nice video and not a bad grab at all. I sure wish I could find Old Forester SBBS near me. That’s been on my list for a while now and haven had any luck.
Thanks for watching! We do feel very blessed to be in Northern Indiana where we are very close to some good finds at reasonable prices. What aree of the region are you located?
Yes, they actually do! We just chose to go to this location that day. If I remember correctly, their other stores were also doing lotteries the same day and then again a 3-4 months later, a few of their other stores did a lottery too, although they were smaller choices then.
@@chasingneat Thank you very much! We will be going from Flint area to Chicago this weekend and are going to stop in there and maybe Michigan City too.
The Stagg or EH Taylor barrel proof would have been my first choices. I can't believe how many people were passing on that Wild Turkey master's keep on table B
The Hard Truth bourbon is actually pretty good. They have come a long way. The distillery in southern Indiana is worth checking out if you are ever in the area.
Yeppers! When we first started collecting bourbon, we kinda sneared our nose at "oh its mgp", but then we were like "we love mgp"! We still do, but to your point, I understand sourcing mgp to get you started but commanding such high prices, is out of control.
The lottery selection was pretty meh. Beyond the Blanton's, Eagle Rare, and Maker's the rest was mostly stuff I find on shelves every day. Couldn't tell what Michter's that was but this was mostly common stuff. I guess the Widow Jane 13 year is harder to find but it's also not very desirable (tastes like Dickel to me). Looked like some bottles still had a bump over MSRP. Obviously, regions are different so maybe Nelson Bro's Classic is hard to find in your area but it's on every shelf here for $35. I guess they did have Knob 18 on the side of the table. That was the most interesting bottle in my opinion but I would prefer the 15.
Okay, they had a smaller table with the real good stuff. Birthday Bourbon, BTAC, Pappy, VW, Weller (meh), OF (meh depending on year, and Elmer. That stuff is exciting and now I understand the crowd.
It's interesting to read comments from you all and how widely different pricing is on other areas! At this point, we just like to go for the fun and comraderie worth other whiskey fans! Cheers!
Nope, we definitely did not see either of those. Many years ago we bought 2 Stagg Jrs for about $80, really wish we would have hoarded more. lol When I have seen the new Stagg...it's hard to buy it over MSRP. Keep looking!
Right!! We have a lot of bottles in our collection, but I still think we'd pick a table A first, even if we had one already, if only to pick one up for a friend. I guess some people just really love what they love!
No way!! Go buy some!! They are sooo good! Dixon Dedman is about to release his next 2XO blend, The Innkeeper's Blend. Totally worth $100, if you are okay with buying bourbon at that price.
@@chasingneat It's ok but for less and higher proof i prefer lucky 7 holiday toast. but to each their own just interesting to see what's in other states the only obvious choices for me would have been Btac, then pappy, then Birthday and then Masterkeep , maybe the Weller Single but surprised to see so many everyday shelvers being lottery there but every market is different. But most of those you can snag at msrp if you order online, esp on free shipping days. (refereing to the third table not the first two)
Crazy, in TX the Old Forester SiB BP would be on the allocated table and 3/4ths of that table would just be sitting on shelves lol.
I agree it’s the same in my part of Texas.
Yea I couldn’t believe the 2XO was on the allocated table… and I’m in the same state. Central Indiana and its not hard to find that stuff just laying around
Same here in Ohio, I could probably find most of the lottery table on a good day, the old forester single barrel would be a unicorn
It’s probably a store pick. I got one off the shelf couple weeks ago in Massachusetts
Not that I've ever tried any of these, but based on what I've heard about them all, I'm surprised the first guy didn't grab the WLW or the GTS over the Pappy 12 yr Lot B.

Yea idk what the heck that guy was thinking, who knows though 🤷🏽♂️he could have every one of those bottles except for lot b and ER
Thanks for the video that was cool
Glad you enjoyed it, we had fun their.
So many unicorn's there that are on my list... Drooling as a Canadian!
We feel very fortunate to have access to so many great bourbons nearby!!
Great video! I don’t know why you guys came across my recommended, but I’m happy you did.

Nice job on the video! This was a lot of fun can’t wait for the next one 😊
More to come! Like, hello BARDSTOWN, here we come!! Can't wait!
These look so fun but I don't know if they do this sort of thing in Colorado.
What camera were you discussing at the end of the video?
The DJI Osmo Pocket 2
Wow. From an English perspective this is completely bizarre but super fun to watch. Thanks for sharing.
You all don't hunt whiskey in UK?
@@chasingneat We do but nothing is allocated here and we'd use auctions for rare stuff.

Trenton special guest appearance
It was great running into him and talking with him. Very nice guy!
Nelson Bros. on the raffle table?
Ya, not sure about that one either. I did not look close to see if it was some sort of "special."
which wise guys is this? The last one I went to was in...chesterton? and I think this one is different.
love the content!
This was in Valpo, IN. We've never been to the Chesterton store yet.
What type of camera were you using while talking to Trent?
DJI Pocket 2, it has a built in gimble
How do you get into or find out about the lottery?
Just check their Facebook page, I think that is where we see it.
The Stagg or EH Taylor barrel proof would have been my first choices. I can't believe how many people were passing on that Wild Turkey master's keep on table B
Yes! We were hoping to get our hands on an EHT Barrel Proof too! Although, we were happy to get Remus V and another 2XO!

We are definitely planning a trip there this year! Can't wait to visit them! You live in Indiana?
I can confidently say JDSBBP is better than any bottle on that second table
We do really like that one too!! Have you tried the 2XO, it's pretty goooddd!! One of my favorite double oaks at the moment!
JDSBBP is at the level of George T Stag anyday of the week. The rest is just hype.
JDSBBP is a certified Unicorn Killer.

Weller 12? Really?
For $50, you betcha! We will never pay stupid money for any Weller. What would you have picked?
@@chasingneat was the EH Taylor Barrel Proof still there? If so, I would have picked that way before W12.
I'm not really sure to be honest, we never got picked, we had our eye on the Remus and another 2XO!! I doubt it though.
Weller single barrel over the 12 any day
People are starting to get a little too crazy with their bourbon hunting, spending, and lotteries.
