    It was great to see you back in the lost valley, I loved the spoons, I can't help but think of little ones digging in the dirt with them lol. Plenty of coins again, not a good thing in those days when money was hard to come by. The quarter could have been used as a farthing, its the best explanation I've heard. Take care my friends, have a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful, happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Mary-Ellen UK

    I wish our winters here in the states (Upstate NY) in December were like your winters there when this video was created. It's like what is experienced in the southern part of California which I use to enjoy alot while living there over 20 years.

      Thanks for your comment Kevin - yes although we regard our winters as cold, they are very mild by North American standards LOL. All the best mate and Happy Fossicking! Warren and Colleen.

    I've found slightly thinner steel wedges that were used to level machinery in sugar mills here. That wedges is useful right now to split firewood! Digging & sifting a bit hard here in my spot. Sugar mill machine shop scrap 1878-1920 or so. Datable items 1872-1913 or so. Have found one of those metal buttons you always find. Haven't cleaned or examined it yet. Had Nat'l guard activity here c 1905, and have found stone quarry stuff too. A fragment of granite, which doesn't grow here in Hawaii. I'v found granite flagstones & blocks here. Found an 1879 Victoria Penny and an N.Z. 3D 1933 here, Honolulu & Ewa. In 1880 U.S. gold was made legal tender in the Kingdom, and their paper was 100% backed by it. Still, tokens and foreign money was in circulation with U.S. Hawaiian Cents were demonetised in the 1870s, and the 1883 silver called in and melted in 1904. Heard of one of these 1883 Kalakaua Quarters coming up in 2009 or so.

    The last item I saw looked like one of the brass decoration pieces from a brass bed.

    So, are they doing OK water-wise 6 months later with the Australian temperatures as they are?

    • @NQExplorers
      @NQExplorers  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting - the water situation has not really eased and we are now experiencing a very hot summer, but the occasional storm has greened the place a little. With a good wet season the springs should regenerate. All the best for 2020! Warren and Colleen.

    Apparently if they didn't have the right change they used to cut the coins into the correct amount, I have a penny cut in half and that's what I was told it was done for.
