The movies are meant to sell toys, which is why I agree with your point even more. You want every kid who sees a show or movie to want an Optimus Prime and a Megatron figure, not just one or the other.
This is true, as a kid I always wanted the Decepticons thanks to media like the movie tie-in games for providing some character to them. I almost never wanted any of the figures with no actual personality unless they were just really cool.
Yeah, I agree with everything you said. The Decepticons in the Bayverse definitely needed to have a lot more presence so that they could have character and more contribution to the plot of the movies because honestly was it necessary for the humans to have the most screentime? they should have been the side plot
@@ryebread117_ Yeah, I agree although I kind of get what you mean by "ROTF and DOTM are at their best when it's Transformer-focused" but I also don't really get it
I can feel that when I look at Shockwave. In animated a Cybertron Spy for Megatron that gets backed into a corner after the events of season 2, in Prime a scientist that brought back prehistoric life in his lab while stranded before Knockout found him, in the Bay verse shows up twice says one thing and dies in his second appearance
You know, animated is totally not a garbage show. I think it`s brilliantly written, actually. It`s smart, it`s scary and not so lightweighted kids show as it looks at first glance. Threre`re a lot of design solutions and ideas in tfp which are tfa legacy.
This is just another proof that age of extinction shouldn't exist in the first place. The only reason why it existed because paramount doesn't want to fund pain and gain, a movie that bay wanted to make, unless he makes another transformers movie, companies are fucked up.
Nightbird’s new design and personality was so cool that I’m REALLY hoping she gets rebuilt in her G1 form as an experiment by Dr. Fujiyama to understand Cybertronian physiology, then we learn exactly why the Terrorcons were working for Unicron since it DEFINITELY didn’t seem like they served him out of admiration. My headcanon says that Battletrap was a petty criminal like he was in an earlier continuity who just liked to get into trouble and brawls for the fun of it, whereas Nightbird was a bounty hunter who took it upon herself to reel him in so he wouldn’t cause too much chaos. This continued after an unfortunate encounter with Scourge and Unicron-which is also why Nightbird’s face is now so twisted, literally mutilated and she couldn’t get it to heal properly-and she still feels an instinctual need to keep him in line in a fond way. During her imprisonment as a human-made robot with her brain and memory intact, she relearns compassion-and is given a Hello Kitty plushy by Dr. Fujiyama’s daughter as a nod to her original concept art-but feels tempted to join the Decepticons who are now arriving on Earth because she feels like she’s past redemption. And she just really, REALLY hates the Autobots for what they did to her and gets PTSD attacks every time she encounters Bumblebee, reliving her death in her mind. I don’t expect the filmmakers to go that deep into her character since this version of her was conceived as a disposable baddie from the start, but after the lukewarm reception of Rise of the Beasts, they need some payoff to make the ridiculously high stakes of the plot mean something. After just recently learning about Nightbird’s origins, I REALLY want such a cool yet unknown character to get more of a spotlight. They can’t always rely on Optimus and Bumblebee for ticket sales-especially when they’re as unrelatably psychotic as they’ve been for the last decade-and-a-half. Nightbird origin story for a true Bumblebee 2, writing RotB and racist Optimus out of continuity! Who’s with me!? 🎉
One of my favorite Decepicons is Barricade…and I COULD NOT tell you why…but I THINK it’s because of his scenes in the first Transformers movie, his interrogation of Sam and his quick transformation when he starts chasing him just stick with me and he’s got a really cool design…despite being a minor character, he’s one of my favorites
The transformers were vehicles (no pun intended) to help drive (here I go again) the coming of age story of some whiny teen. They could have used monster or gremlins without changing the story too much.
Bayformers failed to portray the Autobots too if we’re being honest. How much do you actually know about Bayformers Autobots besides Optimus and Bumblebee? And even then you know nothing about them other than how they kill canon fodder Decepticons.
*the bay films did a great job with them sure most of them die but they need to get taken down like bee needed to use his guns to take soundwave down he didnt use his fist at all and shockwave needed the military squadron/nest and the wreckers to take him down but he didnt die and was up but prime thought he would have been finished when his side got cut out but he survived and turn to face optimus and the how there portrayed like soundwave he was a spy and that hes the reason both rotf and dotm events happen so does shockwave blitzwing felt like fodder for the next few seconds in the bbm sure the bay films kill them off most of the time and that and yes they had personalities and just because the cons get taken down fast doesnt mean anything theres reasons how they go out fast like starscream he got gunned down by nest while he went dim and had sam stuck onto him and sam set a bomb in his other eye and when sam got out the bomb exploded and soundwave only died is due to him making this one mistake punching bee so hard in the gut that it caused bee to go in a position and get the chance to push his cannon into his chest and shoot his head out shockwave dies because optimus rips out his eye from his throat this happens with lots of the decepticons but heres the thing they do there important job in the movies there big and strong but when they die they already served there purpose sure some of canon fodder but thats because they didnt matter at all in the films like onslaught got taken down because it was stated he didnt know how to fight 2 enemies he focused on drift then crosshairs which then gave them a chance to do something*
the decepticons in the bay films are exactly why i think transformers works better as a series than a movie
Man image if bayverse was a show series that would have been better than the movies
Never really thought about this until now. I'm curious, if you've seen Transformers: One, do you still feel this way or is it too early to tell?
@@ryebread117_ i haven't watched tf one yet so idk
If they wanted canon fodder for optimus they could have just used the vehicons
Or Sharkticons, Insecticon clones, Allicons, Seekers...
They kind of threw the idea of them in with ROTF reusing some models and DOTM having generic Cybertronians, but yeah.

The DS versions of the first film gave Decepticons more depth and Personality.
That's why I loved playing those more than the Autobot games honestly.

Transformers Armada was great for giving the Decepticons their own screenrime and respecting them as characters.
