🔴 Grab your favourite coffee, there’s a bunch of short updates here in this comment!
🎁 The first one is Bokksu! I am so happy and excited to be sharing their Japanese snack boxes with you. I only sponsor products I genuinely support and this one goes right at the very top of my list. It’s fun, it’s interesting, it’s something that continuously keeps me excited with something in the post. I can’t stress how much I love Bokksu! So if you’re interested, please check out partner.bokksu.com/coffeehousecrime and use the code COFFEE.
☕ Alright, next update is another quick thank you to all of you for supporting Coffeehouse Crime... I wish I could reach out and thank every one of you who have left a comment since hitting 1m subs. It’s impossible for me to keep up so I’ll continuously say it - Thank you!!
📸 Next, glad to see you folks are enjoying the new background and its subtle weekly changes! I’ll have to speak to Gordon (my animator) about the price of the Honey Oat Latte. I take it he doesn’t like honey…
☕ One final update - but I’ll only be posting one video next week. I used some of my time off to recharge and get ahead with searching for new and interesting cases. We’re back to two a week after next week! I have so many stories to share.
That was a lot to write (and read)... thanks folks! Love you all.
Oh and there’s definitely nothing at the end of this video. Nope. I have no idea what you’re talking about.

so i've been vibing with the new background, but if you're taking feedback/suggestions here's my two cents: it feels like there's not quiiite enough visual distinction between yourself and the background because the tones and value (brightness) are fairly similar, and everything's in focus. perhaps you could make the background a touch darker and/or soft focus? that way you aren't fighting with the backdrop and the pretty bulbs for attention

In this regard, has it ever occurred to you that the kind of people who allow something like this to be covered up/cleaned up/swept away are usually involved in far worse? Chances are that the kind of power and secrets that this guy’s parents had access to are what allowed him to ultimately remain free. The only difference I see between him and Jeffrey Epstein is ol’Jeffrey didn’t have enough dirt on his ‘friends’ to keep him from being ‘suicided’.
What I really don’t understand though is the way Japan turned him into some sort of macabre celebrity.

    • @Electragirl5
      @Electragirl5 2 года назад +15

They aren’t. It’s still on his “record” but he wasn’t convicted of it so no punishment can come from it. Depending on the job he applied to their background check may or may not see the charge.
As for the murder charge. The laws of France just are not the laws of Japan. So there’s simply no way Japan can charge him of the murder that occurred in France unless it was an open case and thus could share the evidence with Japan. But being found not guilty by reasons of insanity closed the case. And since it was done they can’t share the evidence of the crime with Japan. And if Japan has no evidence of the crime they can’t charge him in Japan for any crime.

In 2018 the half brother of Renee did an interview in a local Dutch newspaper about the case and he said that their mother and him were imprisoned in a Japanese camp in ww2, so her daughter being murdered by a Japanese was especially hard on her. He also said that there was a lot of anger amongst the French that the president at the time helped get issei the insanity label so he couldn’t get prosecuted because the president didn’t want any fights with isseis influencial father. Hey Adrian theres an ongoing crime which seems to involve the governor of my state, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. A girl named Debanhi Escobar was murdered in a hotel and left in a cistern to rot and they just found the killers, but theres so, so much more behind it. We are trying to bring more attention to it because gender violence in Mexico has always been awful but this last couple of years the numbers have increased.
Please give it a look Adrian...
Edit: thank you everyone for bumping this.
Mexico is a wonderful country filled with great people, even then, gender violence has become a huge problem (it already was a problem before but these recent years it has exponentially increased, we even got called out by the United Nations).
Just as men, we deserve to be able to walk on the streets freely, without any fear to be abducted or killed even in broad daylight...
I pray that somewhere out there, someone brings justice to the abusers and abductors of more than 24,000 currently disappeared women in the country. Because I know that our government will never be able to do that.

I think, you might be a little confused on the legal definition of "not guilty by reason of insanty" and "unfit to stand trial". If a person intellectually understands right from wrong, understands consequences of actions, and understands what they did is a crime, they do not fit the definition of legally insane. Being "unfit" for trial, à person would have to have a severe mental illness, such as a psychotic one and had to have been in the psychotic state at the time of the murder (even insane people have times and moments of clarity). Being unfit or not guilty by reason of insanity does NOT mean a person gets away scot free after murder. They do NOT avoid punishment or justice. They they meet the legal standards for one of these two things, they get placed in a psychiatric hospital, getting treatment, usually for much longer than they would have been in prison, and if "unfit for trial" the person would be in a psych hospital being treated until they are "fit" for trial. The wierdest thing about this case, is the french people outraged over their tax dollars paying for his mental heath care? If the french government had just left him in the hospital, they would have eventually been able to try him for murder. I do not understand why the French people acted this way. This guy, REALLY needed in-patient care in a hospital. He is clearly very ill. And if he got that treatment, he eventually could and would have faced murder charges in a court. And that whole time he would have been out of society and not danger to anyone.

It is crazy disgusting that as soon as you google her name you find her cut up body and head as the first image results, alongside photos of issei being fed by a beautiful young woman like a celebrity several years later

I haven't seen it but there's a documentary about this crime, I think here on youtube, and it actually shows the disgusting graphic images uncensored. My brother said when you click on the video it gives a warning

One more thing. If possible, could you look into the case of Lisa Au. She was found murdered in Honolulu back in the 80’s and I don’t think they ever found her killer. I was living there at the time and it was a horribly gruesome story. It would be interesting to know more about Lisa’s story and if the case is still open. Thank you very much.

The other day I was going down the RUclips algorithm rabbit hole, and I came across a video that must have been one of the first Coffeehouse Crime episodes lol... the amount this guy has improved in front of the camera is night and day. The actual content itself was still great but Adrian seemed way off if you only recently started watching the channel. It was jarring, but imo that's a testament to how far he's come. Very inspiring, also congrats on 1m+, I've been around since like 0.999 :D

It's mind blowing that Issei never had to suffer any legal consequences to his actions. What does Renee's family think? Everything about this story makes no sense. It's absurd.

Yet again, another good video (despite the content being so dark). Thank you.
While it's very disturbing, much like this entire tragic case, one thing you didn't mention (that I can recall) is that the monster become well-known and a bit of a celebrity as a food critic - which is where the photo of him eating came from (to my knowledge).

Omgoodness I love bloopers! You should add them more often! Nice hearing you laugh and seeing your funny side. Also bloopers make us laugh after hearing these cases. Not keeping us dwelling on the victims tragedies.
