I think a series on working for a publisher would be a wonderful idea. It would be a good way of demystifying the whole book-making process for us layfolk, and who doesn't love learning some inside baseball? I'm sure you'd be great at guiding your audience through everything involved!

This was such an interesting video! I work in magazine publishing which, whilst contained in the umbrella of 'publishing industry', is vastly different from book publishing so I would love to see more videos about your journey and what your job entails :)
I'm so glad you thought so!☺️ Ooh yes, I bet magazine publishing is so different to book publishing. One of my colleagues actually came from magazine publishing, and from what she has said things run very differently!

This is such a fab video, with some excellent tips - and I’d be definitely interested in a publishing series! I’m currently a Digital Editor in an English Language Teaching publisher and I love it, but it’s also so interesting to hear about how trade publishing differs!
As another tip, I would say to follow @pubinterns and @thatpubblogger on Twitter as they constantly retweet opportunities!

This was so so interesting! I'm always apprehensive when I think about how far a jump I have to get into publishing. Where did you start when it came to emailing people? Like how did you find the people who might be relevant?
I'm glad you thought so! Don't be - if I can do it, you can💖 I literally just searched for book publishers in the city, as well as any bookshops. When I searched for publishing in the area, lots of people connected to publishing (who didn't work in publishing houses) came up as well. I didn't really understand what a lot of their jobs were, but I am emailed them anyway, haha!
