Very nice job on your XJ, which looks like a Renix perhaps as my fixtures are the same as were the ones in my girlfriend's. Just checking for tips or methods as to how others might be doing theirs. I removed staples and the cloth out of my backer board today. I hand brushed mine, then hit it with some denatured alcohol as a drying agent. I applied some spray on bedliner as another binding agent as you stated these things are very finely fiberous. It'll also act as a base coat for the headliner adhesive to which I bought some fleece type material I color matched the best I could from my local fabric store. I probably need to get some "Goop" to finish off around the fixture openings. I took this time to install some decoupler tiles (Kilmat) and some insulation (4mm Siless) to the ceiling. The drivers side door seal will be replaced, as well as the dew blades. Part of this process has been to remove the carpeting from the vehicle which revealed some rust on the floor, which is getting bedlined and decoupler as well. Not to forget the quarters in the back, and all four doors are getting decoupler and some insulation as well. At each stage I'm taking pictures of everything that's being done. Though I do need to hopefully try to remember to grab the GoPro now and then. 👍
Sounds like you're doing a thorough job on you XJ. Ours is a Renix. Did you get a Nick in Time Design Renix engine monitor? We got the clock style for our XJ and have another style for the MJ and they're invaluable. Good luck with your restoration, thanks for watching!
That looks really good. This was a very well made how to video. Excellent. 👍
Thank you!
