You've made a smart move man. Saved so much money by making your own. I love belt squats, we've actually got one at the gym I work at and it's an amazing piece of equipment.
I've built mine using the top piece of of an old Body Solid leverage squat machine, and rigged it on my Powertec powercage and it works great! I love it! It's stable, got a great range of motion and doesn't wreckt my back and knees...at a fraction of the cost.
My suggestion and recommendation to anyone who wants a good hip belt squat. I got a hip belt squat attachment from a small company called coachullairon. It was custom made and depending on the inch diameter of the squat rack. He can make it the way you want it. Also the price was not bad. Not expensive as most hip belt squat machines.
Interesting. Could a rack attached plate holder be arched to the lever arm facing up? So that you could throw plates on top of the lever arm? (Hopefully that made sense)
I had that idea for awhile but never did it. I didn’t have the quick attachment version and didn’t want to bolt one of my plate holders on every time I used it.
Enjoyed the video and the various solutions you came up with, in your opinion what is the optimum mounting height for the belt squat lever arm where it attaches to the rack?
I almost bought the squat md. I have two buldging disk in lower back. I know it's $2000 but it's something I will use. However, if a leverage arm is good enough to workout legs I will go this route. I know people say sorinex j squat is expensive for what it is, however if it works good enough I will rather buy sorinex j squat over squat md and save some cash and is also more compact. I think I habe a 35" rogue strip in garahe somewhere.
@@TheKurtlocker how u doing brotha?? I already have everything to make a lever belt squat, however iam still debating on getting the squat max md over lever belt squat. Price is like $2000 for base model so I don't know if i really need it when I can just make the lever belt squat? I have 2 bjldging disn and a bad knee. Iam pretty sure I will like the squatmax but trying to justify the price
The SquatmaxMD is simply the best design out there right now from a physiological standpoint. I recommend by e SquatmaxMD all day every day as long as you understand that it’s more difficult to load
Something like this was always going to be far more practical than buying the Sorinex version.. I’m sure it’s amazing, but it just seems ridiculously overpriced for what it actually is considering the cost doesn’t include the lever arm with it. Could also just use two plate storage posts if you don’t have someone to make the piece you have, could use a rogue shackle to solve the bushing problem as well.
Wondering why in many videos like this one, owners don't even try it to make a demonstration... if you want to use a machine 2-3 times a week, the set up has to be simple.... you're set up is giving many goods ideas, it would have been fun to see you trying it....
@@TheKurtlocker In fact your video is pretty useful. Gym are closed again (here in qc) and I'm using some of your infos to build mine.... Apologies for the older videos and lack of useful B roll though. Hopefully this shenanigans is over soon or your home gym lifestyle takes off! Either way, keep grinding!!

It gets even more valuable when you can't lift more than 2 lbs with one of your arms! ha

Ive seen a lot of different workarounds and a lot of creativity. Agreed on the extra strength work!
I use a seated calf machine to do belt squats and it’s a quick easy set up on a power rack to hold on to the bar
I’ve seen that done. Way to make use of existing equipment
I love creative diy solutions like this. Especially the process from version to version. Great job!
Thanks for watching

A custom job is usually a pretty awesome choice. How much did you end up paying?
@@TheKurtlocker like $200. Not that much compared to paying over $1000 for the hip belt squat machines.
That’s an seasons price
@@TheKurtlocker yes
Plus shipping and handling
rogue should make one that can mount to the garage wall. it would work for sure.
This would work with a fixed arm attached to a stud or to a rogue The Strip
Great video.
Thank you! I appreciate the compliment and your time watching!

You can use one of the handles. Just rotate it that the pin is at the top.
The only issue with rotating the handle may be potential ROM issues because the handle would be pointing down.
@@TheKurtlocker Rigth, I use two adjustable boxes for increasing the ROM.
Enjoyed the video and the various solutions you came up with, in your opinion what is the optimum mounting height for the belt squat lever arm where it attaches to the rack?
That’s gonna vary depending on your height. I would recommend at a height where the path the arms takes is the straightest up and down
A little late but a soft shackle might work in place of the chain.
I continue to experiment. I’ll keep that in mind.

There are other options as well for lever arm style such as the Madewell Strength Belt squat with auto kickstand

Mount the handle with the weight horn facing up.
It severely limits the range of motion. I had tried it at one point.
The Kurtlocker what about a extra weight horn with hitch pins to hold them down.
Doc 8404 that would work just fine! As long as you’re loading steel plates you should have the space on the pin.
@thekurtlocker could you get me in contact to get one of the loading pin brackets?
Unfortunately my brother isn’t making them anymore
@@TheKurtlocker copy
Do u like it better with weigh peg on sides instead of top?
I was able to load it heavier with the side pegs
Hi Great Video. Is your brother still making the plate storage add-on? I'd like to order one, 5/8 version for my Rogue Monster Lite.
Thanks
I wish he was, but sadly he is not. I’m working with a couple other manufacturers.
@@TheKurtlocker I'd buy one!
Same
You can simply use rogue standard wieght storage pipes. You do not need connection from the top like in the video.
The storage assembly was super simple to install and easy to load. Definitely a cool design. Plate storage pipe would work as well
coop?
Not coop, Kurt
I got a $25 - $30 landmine from Amazon 3-4 years ago. So far so good.
That could work if you wanted to belt squats as well. I’ve seen setups for belt squats using a lot of different pivot points
How do I order that thing your brother made?
Unfortunately, he is not currently making them

There are videos over on my instagram if you have that platform
How much will you charge to send me one for Rogue Monster rack?
Unfortunately my brother isn’t making them anymore. Sorry.
I would like to get in contact with your brother regarding the weight horn.
I send him a screenshots of all these comments. In the near future I may start selling attachments like this on a small scale.
Wow, would they mind making this again for people wanting to pay a price? I want to do this with my jammer arms coming in.
I’ve asked him to make more
Is anyone selling those plate loading horns for the belt squat?
I haven’t seen another source
I’d be interested in purchasing this in the 1” Monster version from your brother
If you have Instagram can you please DM me for details? My handle is @the_kurtlocker
@@TheKurtlocker is he selling the attachment? I’d purchase one for Rogue Monster lever arms 👍🏼
He is not. The amount of work his company already does doesn’t currently allow for the attachment to be produced
what do you think the ratio is?
About 60% of the load is actual felt load
