Bezos moves to diversify the city of Minas Tirith. His defeat at the box office showed our enemy one thing: he knows Peter Jackson has come forth. The fans are not as weak as he supposed. There is courage still, strength enough perhaps to challenge him. Bezos fears this. He will not risk the fans of Middle Earth uniting under one banner. He will raise the Tolkien franchise to the ground before he sees a Jackson return to the directors seat. If the beacons of Gondor are lit, the fans must be ready for war!

Too bad they ruined the Hobbit. It felt like a laughing stock! (I know it wasn't Jackson's fault only, but mainly the investors, but still! )LotR won how many awards and still is the best trilogy to date, and they wouldn't let him film the Hobbit like he did with LotR!?
The Hobbit was overblown in effects, CGI, terrible dialogue, AND unfounded love triangles between dwarves and elves. The 'Final' battle felt like a midterm taken with a 50 point grading curve. The war felt like a cheap video game and none of the battles felt real - they were all 'look at me and my fancy sword fighting while I cinematically flip my hair over my shoulder and take out six enemies behind me from being glamorous! "
I'm a female, I started reading the Fellowship of the Ring at the age of 8. I never thought, 'Mmmmm, this story needs a love triangle!" 😡
The original cinematic trilogy will always be first in my heart, and come first to mind when asked if I know of a cinematic legend in my lifetime!
@@TheOReport1994 absolutely agree! But as you mentioned, I’ve seen enough interviews, documentary clips, and read enough articles to know not to blame peter jackson. Like you said, the first film was all him and fran walsh. They were given a massive budget and told to have fun and do their thing. The project was relaxed, had little executive oversight, and allowed for jackson to take the time to do his research and do right by tolkiens canon.
He was not afforded that luxury in the hobbit. They rushed him, and pushed things on him. In every single video taken during the production, he looks exhausted, wired, and stressed out. He had so much less control over the hobbit. He did pretty damn good considering the pile of shit the producers left him with, IMO.
But also, i recently rewatched all 6 movies. One thing i did differently this time around was keep in mind that tolkien intended for the hobbit to be a childrens book. He did not write LotR that way though. Those are adult books. So i criticized the LotR and Hobbit movies accordingly, and, surprisingly, it actually made a big difference in my experience! The hobbit was much more enjoyable that way. Its still not nearly the same as the LotR but its not bad.
Don't let Frodo see, he'll be so demoralised he'll give sauron the ring & jump head first into mount doom.

When I go back and watch the Jackson trilogy, the dialogue is so well written, and so well delivered. Even the lines that are adapted fit so well into Tolkien's world.
Then I tried to watch Rings of Prime. Finrod's speech about ships floating because of lights in the sky was so nonsensical I just paused it and sat in silence for 5 minutes. I genuinely can't believe this dialogue made it into the final product.
There might be some lines in it that are bad but in the lotr community, they're just played for laughs as "that line was dumb but the rest of the movie is awesome so it doesn't matter" so it's memed to death like "taking the hobbits to isengard"

Edit: After some research I have found that as part of the contract to make the show, Amazon is not allowed to make the show a canonical continuation of the Jackson films. I was more right than I initially thought.

And the journey through the Land of the Knee Walking Turkey's was breathtaking, especially when she delivered the line in perfect Noldor: 'mekka lekka hi mekka heinie ho'. Sorry, it's hard to type through tears.
That moment when Walter White and Shrek held hands on the top of mount doom while Sauron proclaimed: "No I am your father". Truly remarkable. After all this time Walt and Shrek were actually brothers. TROP had been toying with the idea for so long and we still didnt see it comming. Truly a plot twist that will go down in Amazon "sweatshop" Prime Video history.

It isn't that bad. I love how the show subtly addresses today's issues. For example, I applauded when Galadriel said "Thou aren't less of a man" to the eunuch at Playboy Mansion.

As much as I loved the LoTR movies, when I saw the first Hobbit movie, I immediately saw that the franchise was in decline from that point onward and things were only going to get worse. So I walked away and never looked back. I did the same thing with Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Judging from the reactions I've seen to all three franchises from people who are much bigger fans than I am, I made the right choice.
Come on, the Hobbit movies aren't so bad. Sure, the addition of Legolas and Tauriel were absolute dogshit, but other than that it's pretty fair to Tolkien's works and it has good writing, effects and acting. I don't see the issue people have with those movies.

I like how Bezos and Amazon spent a billion $$ to make a LOTR show and the rest of the world was basically like: "you can spend all the money you want to legally use the same names, but it'll never be LOTR and you know it as much as we do."
Make jokes all you want but when they had three different Aragons show up to defeat Morgoth and said, "It's striding time" my whole neighborhood clapped and cheered.

As many of you, I was hesitant about the outcome of the first episode after reading the premise. I mean, Galadriel, the Lady of Lórien, the Mistress of Magic, preventing a bomb from exploding aboard a city bus by keeping its speed above 50 mph, made me feel unsure, dubious, I must admit. Furthermore, for a split second I contemplated the failure of such an ambitious project.
Today I stand, in front of the whole world to behold, like a fool. Yet, I've never been merrier of my naïveté. I can proudly say: I was wrong.
