Thats what i said when i saw Hobbit trilogy. LOTR is a masterpiece, no idea how Peter Jackson messed that up in Hobbit ones. Its perfect outside the dwarf depictions. Its the one thing that ruined it for me : P
When I go back and watch the Jackson trilogy, the dialogue is so well written, and so well delivered. Even the lines that are adapted fit so well into Tolkien's world. Then I tried to watch Rings of Prime. Finrod's speech about ships floating because of lights in the sky was so nonsensical I just paused it and sat in silence for 5 minutes. I genuinely can't believe this dialogue made it into the final product.
There might be some lines in it that are bad but in the lotr community, they're just played for laughs as "that line was dumb but the rest of the movie is awesome so it doesn't matter" so it's memed to death like "taking the hobbits to isengard"

Edit: After some research I have found that as part of the contract to make the show, Amazon is not allowed to make the show a canonical continuation of the Jackson films. Too bad they ruined the Hobbit. It felt like a laughing stock! (I know it wasn't Jackson's fault only, but mainly the investors, but still! )LotR won how many awards and still is the best trilogy to date, and they wouldn't let him film the Hobbit like he did with LotR!? The Hobbit was overblown in effects, CGI, terrible dialogue, AND unfounded love triangles between dwarves and elves. The 'Final' battle felt like a midterm taken with a 50 point grading curve. The war felt like a cheap video game and none of the battles felt real - they were all 'look at me and my fancy sword fighting while I cinematically flip my hair over my shoulder and take out six enemies behind me from being glamorous! " I'm a female, I started reading the Fellowship of the Ring at the age of 8. I never thought, 'Mmmmm, this story needs a love triangle!" 😡 The original cinematic trilogy will always be first in my heart, and come first to mind when asked if I know of a cinematic legend in my lifetime!
@@TheOReport1994 absolutely agree! But as you mentioned, I’ve seen enough interviews, documentary clips, and read enough articles to know not to blame peter jackson. Like you said, the first film was all him and fran walsh. They were given a massive budget and told to have fun and do their thing. The project was relaxed, had little executive oversight, and allowed for jackson to take the time to do his research and do right by tolkiens canon. He was not afforded that luxury in the hobbit. They rushed him, and pushed things on him. In every single video taken during the production, he looks exhausted, wired, and stressed out. He had so much less control over the hobbit. He did pretty damn good considering the pile of shit the producers left him with, IMO. But also, i recently rewatched all 6 movies. One thing i did differently this time around was keep in mind that tolkien intended for the hobbit to be a childrens book. He did not write LotR that way though. Those are adult books. So i criticized the LotR and Hobbit movies accordingly, and, surprisingly, it actually made a big difference in my experience! The hobbit was much more enjoyable that way. Its still not nearly the same as the LotR but its not bad.

As many of you, I was hesitant about the outcome of the first episode after reading the premise. I mean, Galadriel, the Lady of Lórien, the Mistress of Magic, preventing a bomb from exploding aboard a city bus by keeping its speed above 50 mph, made me feel unsure, dubious, I must admit. Furthermore, for a split second I contemplated the failure of such an ambitious project. Today I stand, in front of the whole world to behold, like a fool. Yet, I've never been merrier of my naïveté. Culture is still declining due to the globalzation of liberal social-economics and the indivialistic egalitarian philosophy. A misuse of a measurement of itellectual capacity does not measure an overall decline in the masses being able to harness it. Too bad they ruined the Hobbit. It felt like a laughing stock! (I know it wasn't Jackson's fault only, but mainly the investors, but still! )LotR won how many awards and still is the best trilogy to date, and they wouldn't let him film the Hobbit like he did with LotR!?
The Hobbit was overblown in effects, CGI, terrible dialogue, AND unfounded love triangles between dwarves and elves. The 'Final' battle felt like a midterm taken with a 50 point grading curve. The war felt like a cheap video game and none of the battles felt real - they were all 'look at me and my fancy sword fighting while I cinematically flip my hair over my shoulder and take out six enemies behind me from being glamorous! "

The original cinematic trilogy will always be first in my heart, and come first to mind when asked if I know of a cinematic legend in my lifetime!
@@TheOReport1994 absolutely agree! But as you mentioned, I’ve seen enough interviews, documentary clips, and read enough articles to know not to blame peter jackson. Like you said, the first film was all him and fran walsh. They were given a massive budget and told to have fun and do their thing. The project was relaxed, had little executive oversight, and allowed for jackson to take the time to do his research and do right by tolkiens canon.
He was not afforded that luxury in the hobbit. They rushed him, and pushed things on him. In every single video taken during the production, he looks exhausted, wired, and stressed out. He had so much less control over the hobbit. He did pretty damn good considering the pile of shit the producers left him with, IMO.
But also, i recently rewatched all 6 movies. One thing i did differently this time around was keep in mind that tolkien intended for the hobbit to be a childrens book. He did not write LotR that way though. Those are adult books. So i criticized the LotR and Hobbit movies accordingly, and, surprisingly, it actually made a big difference in my experience! The hobbit was much more enjoyable that way. Its still not nearly the same as the LotR but its not bad.

Mock Galadriel all you want but the scene where she defeats all the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling in a cage match was just how I envisioned it when reading Tolkien's appendices. And the journey through the Land of the Knee Walking Turkey's was breathtaking, especially when she delivered the line in perfect Noldor: 'mekka lekka hi mekka heinie ho'. Sorry, it's hard to type through tears.

As many of you, I was hesitant about the outcome of the first episode after reading the premise. I mean, Galadriel, the Lady of Lórien, the Mistress of Magic, preventing a bomb from exploding aboard a city bus by keeping its speed above 50 mph, made me feel unsure, dubious, I must admit. Furthermore, for a split second I contemplated the failure of such an ambitious project.
Today I stand, in front of the whole world to behold, like a fool. Yet, I've never been merrier of my naïveté. I can proudly say: I was wrong.
