You know, that year were premiered 3 awesome anime movies: Koe no Katachi (A Solent voice), Kimi no nawa (Your name) and the underrated Kono sekai no katasumi ni (In this corner of the world), but no one reacts to the last one. I think it's because involves the war and the Hiroshima bombing, wich seems not beeing a popular theme for people from USA.
Almost anything from Makoto Shinkai is a great, and also pretty sad. A few of his work I highly recommend is Garden of Word, 5cm per second, Voice of a Distant Star.
@@OziSensei Garden of Words and Voice of the Distant Star is actually a single 30 minutes episode of OVA. While 5 cm per second is a 3 episodes OVA. It later has an 1 hour movie edition too. These three are a bittersweet romance with a twist, just like Your Name. So it will feel similar. As oppose to some of his other work, like Weathering with you or The girl who chase lost voice, which is more of an adventure story. So it will have different feel to it. But you can try those too. In term of sadness, I would dare say....... Your Name is the happiest among the four lol
“Weathering with You” is another, more recent film by the same director and in that movie both of these characters make tiny cameos. I believe that film suggests they got married through a very small, hard to spot Easter egg.

@@IGRohan Nope, they aren't Tenki no ko just has good visuals. The story doesn't come near as close to Kimi no na wa. It's just this hyped up because of Kimi no na wa, and because of Makoto Shinkai. Buyosoku 5cm is a better movie than Tenki no Ko, but because it came before Kimi no na wa, it's not as famous, but it's better. Also from Shinkai.

I watched it in the theater and it is very good film and also good for this challenge. I also saw YOUR NAME in the theater as soon as it came to the US.
I suggest u react to Perfect Blue! This isn't a movie that will make you cry like this did but definitely a movie that will mess up with your mind. Great reaction tho! Love how it bored u at first (as it did with me) but slowly got really into it.

Man first time I watched it yesterday it kinda sux for me...my internet sux and this website I watched on had 2 quality.. Either was crap or rlly good that it keeps buffering.. I also didn't rlly got confused at times and had to skip back a lot... But the website every time I click skip back 10 sec it redirects me and opens a new tab so i have close it and I have to click on the movie again and close a new redirect that opened up just to skip back the movie... Honestly even tho I couldn't fully exp this amazing movie... I still felt emotional at the powerful scenes. Honestly such a wonderful movie. I hope to rewatch it again in a better time.

Anyone notice how Taki has climbed up the whole stairs and Mitsuha just finished half? Despite it's Taki who has to do more effort climbing up? Feminine move for Mitsuha to slow down and give Taki more time =).
@@OziSensei It wasn't exactly shown. They were putting up a front while they were approaching each other. But after passing each other, they allowed themselves to look back. Pretty much the same as the overpass scene with the soft snow. Proceed as if nothing is going on, preserve the social norm. But when the other one has passed by, look back and wonder as opportunity starts to slip by...
@@OziSensei It need not be poetic (nor tragic =) ). Reminds me of a YT review of the film. He said that: For once, in his miserable g*d d*ng life, Shinkai gave us an ending that was happy. =). I mean, if Shinkai ended the film on that snowy overpass, that would have been more reflective of most people's lives. =) =/.
Ozi Sensei In my opinion, the emotional manipulation (?) and storytelling in Maquia is way better than Your Name. It’s definitely difficult to not cry during Maquia for anyone considering I could hear sniffles from the entire theater when I saw it. I think they are too different in style and genre to be able to draw a good comparison, though.
Don't think the message is particularly about any sort of "destiny" haha. Maybe that sounds sorta romantic to some people, but such a "message" would have little practical value. One has to create their destiny with their own hands, and the protagonists made it happen in the end with their courage and determination. Also, what touched me the most was not the love story, but the beautiful wishes, resilience, and determination people display in the face of a calamity (meteor strike is an understandable artistic representation, while in reality it's very possible for a Japanese town to be struck multiple times by earthquake or tsunami). This is the usual theme in a traditional folklore story, and they delivered a modern version of it well.
Yes its truly beautiful indeed, in any way you look at it, this movie was a true masterpiece and I can't imagine anyone not derive their own meaning from everything that happened in the movie, the emotions, the music...pure perfection!

@@OziSensei yes for Japanese it's usually meat, vegetables, soup etc thats tied to their culture of course like Miso Soup, (my personal favorite) Katsudon or Tonkatsu. Along with rice ... but in Japan sometimes they just eat rice and rice alone with some seasonings or something. The only dish that they eat without rice that I know of is Ramen. In my country we also eat rice everyday in the same way as Japan but we have our own dishes that go along with rice like Adobo, Sinigang and many others.

Man first time I watched it yesterday it kinda sux for me...my internet sux and this website I watched on had 2 quality.. Either was crap or rlly good that it keeps buffering.. I also didn't rlly got confused at times and had to skip back a lot... But the website every time I click skip back 10 sec it redirects me and opens a new tab so i have close it and I have to click on the movie again and close a new redirect that opened up just to skip back the movie... Honestly even tho I couldn't fully exp this amazing movie... I still felt emotional at the powerful scenes. Honestly such a wonderful movie. I hope to rewatch it again in a better time.

@@OziSensei It wasn't exactly shown. They were putting up a front while they were approaching each other. But after passing each other, they allowed themselves to look back. Pretty much the same as the overpass scene with the soft snow. Proceed as if nothing is going on, preserve the social norm. But when the other one has passed by, look back and wonder as opportunity starts to slip by...

I mean, if Shinkai ended the film on that snowy overpass, that would have been more reflective of most people's lives. =) =/.

Ozi Sensei In my opinion, the emotional manipulation (?) and storytelling in Maquia is way better than Your Name. It’s definitely difficult to not cry during Maquia for anyone considering I could hear sniffles from the entire theater when I saw it. I think they are too different in style and genre to be able to draw a good comparison, though.

Don't think the message is particularly about any sort of "destiny" haha. Maybe that sounds sorta romantic to some people, but such a "message" would have little practical value. One has to create their destiny with their own hands, and the protagonists made it happen in the end with their courage and determination.
Also, what touched me the most was not the love story, but the beautiful wishes, resilience, and determination people display in the face of a calamity (meteor strike is an understandable artistic representation, while in reality it's very possible for a Japanese town to be struck multiple times by earthquake or tsunami). This is the usual theme in a traditional folklore story, and they delivered a modern version of it well.

Yes its truly beautiful indeed, in any way you look at it, this movie was a true masterpiece and I can't imagine anyone not derive their own meaning from everything that happened in the movie, the emotions, the music...pure perfection!

@@OziSensei yes for Japanese it's usually meat, vegetables, soup etc thats tied to their culture of course like Miso Soup, (my personal favorite) Katsudon or Tonkatsu. Along with rice
... but in Japan sometimes they just eat rice and rice alone with some seasonings or something. The only dish that they eat without rice that I know of is Ramen.
In my country we also eat rice everyday in the same way as Japan but we have our own dishes that go along with rice like Adobo, Sinigang and many others.
