I will be honest, I was watching this video thinking 'this mic sounds AMAZING'. It works really well, it's really versatile, the accessories and bag are fantastic. No way I can afford this - and then you said the price!! I will be getting one of these for sure.
Well... it would have been nice to see some noise reduction tests. Wish it had some sort of a ability to record timecode to the internal recorder. Oh well...
@@skmkenny You can choose how wide you want the sound to be picked up afterwards. Either purely mono shotgun from the front only, or going up to 120°. For a real filmmaker, an incredible flexibility.
It doesn't seem to be a good buy unless you want the wireless capability, which you said you didn't use much. The Zoom M3 MicTrak also has 32 bit recording, but it records in M/S stereo, which of course gives you the ability to choose mono through to super wide stereo in post production. And I think it is cheaper ($143 in fact at the moment). But it doesn't do wireless.
Thanks for the video! Do you know if the receiver compatible with Comica Vimo Q Wireless Microphone? I mean: could I connect a Vimo Q transmitter and a VM40 Shotgun mic to the same receiver?
I asked this same question at an Instagram post, and Comica answered that the chip inside VM40 is not compatible with either the Vimo Q or VM30. Fingers crossed 🤞 for new version of Vimo Q eventually that adds compatibility & built-in 32-bit recording.

Wish it was stereo, like the Zoom M3
Bit if a noob question
But what benefit does that provide?
I’m looking to buy either this or the m3 and i’m having a tough time deciding
Featureset seems pretty comparable and price is the same

M3 is fantastic, I also use it with my DJI Mic for dual (32 bit float and wireless) recording. Just plug the output from M3 into my DJI transmitter.
@cineffect Heh, I never thought of that! I will try it myself. Thanks for the idea!
Does the VM40 receiver work with the VM30 mic and they connect to each other?!
@@arian_sheikhi not to my knowledge
Does the internal recording trigger automatically when hitting the record button on the camera or does it have to be manually turned on?
No there is a record button on the mic you have to hold on. There is also an app you can do it from.
@@epochfilmandphoto in the app there is auto record settings?
@ looking into that for you!
