    The MKE600 has more clarity, sounds more airy. The VM40 sounds a bit muffled in comparison. It can be improved with a bit of EQ (I recommend the plugin FreshAir from Slate Digital that does some great magic for this application and it is so easy to use). The Comica remains a solid choice for a hassle free plug and play scenario and this is the reason I'm keeping both :)

      Yes agree with all that! Both have their strengths. If you are very run and gun you might be better off with the VM40 for simplicity. EQ could likely get it close!

    I cannot really explain why, but this Comica has caught my attention. And the internal 32bit audio sounded quite clean. sometimes use my MKE600, VideomicNTG or other mics and record them into a boom-attached Zoom F2, F3 or Rode Wireless Pro transmitter/32bit recorder, or a Rodelink XLR wireless transmitter. But having all built into a mic would make it easier to rig up. I am curious about two things though: a) latency of VM40 when transmitting wirelessly b) battery life. In a future release timecode would be great.

    Great comparison! I could not tell the differnece quality wise, BUT! I am NOT an audio expert & over 60, not the best judge on audio quality. Blah blah blah
    I've had the 2-mic VM40 kit for about a week now. I've tried using wireless via TWO different routes. YES, two.... I was worried about the long-term ruggedness of the "plastic" Comica reciever (don't judge a book by it's cover, right?), so I tried using TRS on each of the 2 mics. I connected each shotgun mic to a DJI Mic2 transmitter and thus to the DJI Reciever, just for grins. I couldn't tell the difference and I didn't test 32-bit; so maybe that's my next RUclips comparison video, what do you think? Is TRS to DJI transmitter/reciever any different quality wise? I'm not sure if the "path" is different or the same (with different equipment). Regardless, it gives you MORE flexibility. One less thing to carry and I can connect either DJI or Comica to my Pocket 3 via USB... very cool! AGAIN, this mic has all the techie options I can think of, which is why I bought it. I'm a sucker for a cool Gizmo!
    RELATED QUESTION: since I have two shotguns, I connected them both as dual-mono, 6" apart, so diagonals on each side to my mouth.... Wow, the sound is much more "full" (not sure I'm using the correct adjective). My question is, is dual-mono "a thing"? I haven't heard anyone talk about it. ...should it be? [I just tried it for the heck of it.]

    Why is there a stereo mode when the mic itself is only a mono device? Or is this for the case when using TWO VM40's simultaneously?

    • @itsaaronmiller
      @itsaaronmiller  6 дней назад

      I think maybe it’s when you use 2 simultaneously. Since they sell it in a stereo pack! I only received the single transmitter version though

    Did you use the internal camera audio with the VM40 or the 32bit float files and synced them in post during the first section? I've noticed this mic gets a noticeable jump in quality when using the internal files

    • @itsaaronmiller
      @itsaaronmiller  8 дней назад +1

      The first section was wireless audio into a Tentacle Track E vs the internal 32 bit float of the Comica VM40

      @@itsaaronmiller That explains it, the wireless mode seems to work just fine as scratch audio but I'd never use it as the final

    sammy sounds way better imho. I'd ratter have an mke400/600 on a zoom f2 for 32bit. Either way, congrats to Comica for pushing audio tech forward.

      Mke600 sound wise, but considering I’m run & gun for the most part, I’m liking the versatility of the comica and the sound is good enough. Not great, but good enough, really good for the price. When I need better or it’s more of a controlled shoot, I’ll have someone handling sound.

      @@Eyeofkamauexactly how I feel. It definitely can get the job done and has so many perks quality wise. If I could only choose one, it would be the VM40

      If mke 600 sounds better, I buy it. I don't like wireless, muddy sound.

      @itsaaronmiller  16 дней назад

      @ maybe a little less high end but I’d hesitate to say muddy. Remember, you don’t have to use the mic in wireless. It’s just a perk

    Bro, can you please tell me if COMICA VM30 and VM40 (wired) sound similar? removing the 32 bits from the equation and if I configure the VM30 correctly to take advantage of those 24. Help me please, I am lost. :(
