Thanks for watching! I did want to mention that although I say it's not ideal for freeway riding, it is of course entirely possible to ride frequently on the freeway with the Bell Moto-3. It's just not designed with freeway riding or high speeds in mind, like many other modern helmets are. Still love this thing to death! Below are the links to products/accessories mentioned. Bell Moto-3 Helmet → amzn.to/3vZRZyd Goggles → amzn.to/3dK8QyP Sunglasses (similar) → amzn.to/3hyOg5B Clip-on Action Camera Helmet Mount (comes in additional colors) → amzn.to/367Q8wt
I think it came out in 1978, I had one. It was made for Motocross and Dirt Bike riding, and it was very very popular. Back then, a kid could earn some money and buy a new dirt bike. I had the Bell moto-2, 3, 4 and 5. 1978-2001
Back in the 70's, full face helmets for MX were just starting to come out, and Bell was on top of the curve. Their Moto-1 was a straight bar. Moto-2 had the nose and chin area extended on the bar with no vent holes. Moto-3 may have been the first Dirt bike helmet with a vented chin bar. Many riders drilled holes in the front of their Moto-2 bar fronts for ventilation before the Moto-3 came out. That is a "retro helmet", and I hope they make the Moto-4 again. :) Doug in Michigan
As you talked about some small rocks getting kicked up from tires ahead of you, it reminded me of the 2nd function of the visor. Those rocks in the Dirt bike world we call "roost". When we saw a roost from a bike ahead of us coming at our face, we would bend our head forward (visor pointing down), and let the visor block the roost. It became 2nd nature in that world. If you see something coming at your head, a bird or what ever, don't forget that move.
Meghan you and your rider friend should take the ferry over to Michigan for a few days and explore some of the local roads. It would make a nice get away this Summer. I don't know anything that's there but could be an adventure.
I have the indy edition. Last year I was hit by a car on my bike . I was thrown about 20 ft and landed on my head and shoulder on the pavement. I ended up with 6 broken ribs, a fractured sternum and collar bone as well as a good bit of soft tissue damage in my shoulder. But this helmet did its job very well and my head was the only part of my body that didn't hurt. Kas a side note this helmet is perfect for guys who are used to wearing useless crappy half helmets and believe that full face helmets restrict your vision. This helmet offers the largest field of vision you can possibly get in a full face helmet. And IMHO it is the coolest looking helmet on the market.
Thanks for doing this review. I was looking for a helmet a month ago and the Bell was one of the contenders. In the end I chose the Shoei EX-ZERO, which is quite similar but comes with a visor on the inside that offers enough wind protection for highway speeds. This visor works better for me, since I have to wear glasses all the time. On the other hand I do have to admit that I really admire the chemical candy colors, they are amazing.
nice review, Meghan. 👍👍❤❤. at a glance, the helmet design reminded me of the motocross. each time I see this helmet, scrambler motorcycle come into my mind.
Nice review. I'm just about to get a Bell Eliminator, another cool retro inspired full-face lid. Bell seem to be making some cool things at the moment.
Great video Meghan! I have the MOTO3 but use it when riding my dirt bikes. Great helmet for sure and goggles are always needed off road. Cheers Lady great review! 🙌👏👌✌🖖🤙👍👋🙂
Nice review.💯 I am a super sports type of guy so never experienced this type of helmet but it looks cool. Suits on you pretty well.👌🏻Take care and stay safe.
I bought one of the first Bell Moto 3 years ago when I was still desert racing. I loved that helmet with its usable visor that actually shaded your eyes from the sun. It saved my brain several times from being scrambled.
Some people might not know but the MSF & most MC helmet manufacturers recommend replacing helmet at every 5 yrs, if not sooner, due impacts, etc. The helmet components age & weaken over time affecting impact resistance. I hate seeing people selling M.C. helmets at garage sales. Just an FYI for new riders. Nice review, Meghan.
I don't know how fast the Styrofoam decays, but the environmentalists says it lasts for ever. :) I would be more worried about foam compression from previous crashes.
Cool looking Motorcross style looking helmet & great colour scheme & good airflow which I like 🎨 Yep good to have a good field of view too. I have a Bell Carbon fibre Eliminator limited model with red, gold & white strip on blk, which also has a great wide view & good airflow. Ps Luv the old school (David Mann) chopper style pic 🏍️😎
I love the bell moto 3. I was isnspired when I bought mine from the original mad max movie “The Toecutter “ This helmet is the updated version of The Toecutter’s helmet. Also you get the more open freedom but get the protection of a full face instead of wearing those dumb half helmets or skullcaps which I mostly wore. I guess I wised up The road won’t care how cool you think you look wearing a half/skull etc. if you have a accident. Excellent helmet and quality like I said you do get the open freedom feel with the full protection
Have you had a problem with the visor being really loose? I just bought the Fast House checkered and the visor flops around quite a lot because the buttons aren’t tight.
List a single vintage style helmet Aria makes worth buying. Not including vintage helmets no other company has anything even close to Bells MIPS system which reduces rotational forces. Go ahead and talk about Snell or ECE ratings but most Bell helmets have that as well. All I’ve seen are Arai fan boyz thinking their sh*t don’t stink because they paid too much for their helmet. Nice try though lol

That's an awesome looking helmet, I didn't know Shoei offered ones like that. Seems like a really smart design!

Absolutely! Love the motocross inspiration
Always good videos with solid information from you, Meghan. Thank you very much for your thoughts of the Bell helmet!!
Thanks Tom!

🙌👏👌✌🖖🤙👍👋🙂
I'll have to take mine off road one of these days!
Thank you, great to see a review from a woman. I bought this helmet based mostly on your thorough video.
I dig that helmet. I just picked up the open face Bell 500 with those 70’s style colors.
Bell has some really rad options! The helmet market in general right now is awesome
Would love to see a virtual tour of your shop. Any videos like that?
Nice review.💯 I am a super sports type of guy so never experienced this type of helmet but it looks cool. Suits on you pretty well.👌🏻Take care and stay safe.
Thanks Ahmed!
Welcome.
Great break down. You great breakdown.
I have never wore a helmet but lately I’ve been thinking about it so thank you for the information

It seems really great for stuff like that! I really enjoy the visor as well.

I'm always mind blown seeing used helmets floating around. At that point, they're just décor!

The Eliminator looks like a really great helmet! And carbon fiber at that, luxurious!
Wow what bike have you got? Looks amazing

Hollywood often uses/used dirt bike riding gear, (usually black), in sci-fi movies. Boots, chest protesters, arm guards, helmets.
Nice review.
You have a strong name👊
Have you had a problem with the visor being really loose? I just bought the Fast House checkered and the visor flops around quite a lot because the buttons aren’t tight.
Hmmm, may be a defect. Mine has stayed put completely!
Has the visor ever came off or came lose while riding on the freeway, or fast in general?
Nope, it's very secure. The visor has to be taken off with two hands and all those snaps across the front
BELL is a great value for money for a basic helmet. But Arai is the best in the industry.

Nice content
It doesn't matter who the manufacturer is, if it doesn't fit properly.
Very true!
Love youuuu laris maniss
