    Dude, you cant show crown 2012 and leave out the glorious high brass trill at the beginning. something about it sends chills down my spine every time. I don't know what it is.

    I don't think I will ever hear anything louder than that HUGE hit in Star's 1992 opener. 24 seconds in, then it got even louder at 29 seconds. No way any hornline has ever matched that volume. It was deafening. I still get chills whenever I hear it, but being there live (three nights in a row) was utterly amazing.

      I was fortunate enough to see Star in 1992 twice. That opener still gives me chills. Ok, now off to watch Star 1992's show....again....today...

    The loudest moment I heard was when I heard the ending to the Troopers 2022 show, I was there for finals and it was very very very loud sitting right in the middle in the first row

    It was told to me many years ago that the dissonant chord the 1997 Madison Scouts played when the pirate captain was slain, was the loudest thing ever heard on a field of competition, followed shortly by the 45 second sustained chord company front blast. What a year to age out! MYNWA

    This was good, but 1989 Phantom Regiment, 1989 Star of Indiana, 1995 & 1997 Madison Scouts, and 1980 Spirit of Atlanta (all outdoor shows, not an enclosed stadium. No amplification) were definitely more powerful. I heard them all. Chills from head to toe on a totally different level.

      @harryballsonya As a BD fan, I am so happy 2008 turned out the way it did.
      Without it, we don't get BD dominance and laying the smackdown on everyone in the following years.
      2008 was Phantom's season, but this is BDs world.

    Been going to shows since the late 70's, and yes, this is so far the loudest brass moment I've heard in the Bb era...but I competed against '89 Phantom, and let me tell ya'...

    Loudest I've heard was Blue Devils 95. They were VERY loud, awesome and super confident all at the same time!!!

    No. Pre amplification and with amplification have to be separated, so there is not loudest moment without a proviso. This was for sure super powerful and I love it! One example of power before amplification, BD 1985 last note of ballad. G bugles, blew our faces off. So many great loud moments in old and new dci! Love it!

    The opening hit of BD 96 has to be up there (club blue). From quiet to instantly full out. Almost knocked me over when I saw it live that season.

    the loudest show I heard in person was the 1986 champions Blue Devils performing their encore after winning the championship. It actually caused ear physical discomfort.

    This was such a masterful show. Design, composition, arrangement, performance.....But not the loudest moment IMO. That would have been Phantom 2011 closer at Finals as the corps swelled and the crowd roared.

    troopers came to my school on finals week for rehearsal and I sat right on the 50 front row and my ears were hurting but it was so worth it.

    Some of those 89 hornlines in Arrowhead I’ve heard were deafening in person. Recordings seem to corroborate that. Regiment in particular

    Loudest moment I ever heard live was Madison Scouts 99. Company front impact after the drum feature. There were no survivors.

      @Tom Willis They sustained a ridiculous volume for a long time. But Madison Scouts 2001 had a shot that was measured at 129 decibels from the buffalo pressbox, and I doubt spirit matched that.

      In the 80's there was a guy who would do that, and the loudest he found was 1988 Star...they were like a wind tunnel of G bugle awesomeness.

    NOTHING was instermentally loader than the bugle yrs.Just the nature of the beast. BD,Spirit, Madison,and Star could ausomelly put a hurting on your ears without sound system enhancement.

    80 Spirit of Atlanta was the loudest corps I have ever heard in the 45 years I've been attending shows and I was told then that they were not as loud (but much cleaner than) 75 Madison and 72 Skyliners. So - no 2012 Crown was not even close.

    I dont know Troopers sort of blew everyone's ear drums out (that managed to get into LOS in spite of the massive ticketing fuckup) for finals at their final phrasing.
