    I really appreciate your approach. Simple, yet very useful. I did construction and operated everything except the motor grader. I have great respect for grader operators.

    Fabulous idea gentlemen. Thanks. I needed a basic overview. Seems damn complicated because there’s so many positions. But I hear everyone say “time in the seat” teaches you. I’m about to dress roads on a 4000 acre ranch and I will have nobody pushing me to hurry up so I’ll just go slow and keep learning. One good thing going for me is I have plowed a ton of snow in my time and I always know how to move snow windrows so I hope I can get the hang of dirt! At least the dirt I’ll be moving is loose and bone dry and also flat terrain.

    I knew an old grader operator who came from Northern Ontario, Canada. He said that one winter many years ago he was plowing the city streets with the grader at -40 below and caught the corner of his blade on a manhole frame and the entire blade shattered like a windshield because the metal was so cold! Old Mel almost went through the steering wheel and the windshield too!

    I operated graders for years (12, 16g,16H, 24H and a couple Komatsu's). These new ones would mess me right up, I think it may take a while to unlearn what I am used to before I got the hang of the joysticks.

  • @jet2032
    @jet2032 2 года назад

    First thing you did wrong was starting the machine. You should turn the key to run position let the Guages cycle turn start the machine

    • @BuildinginLasVegas
      @BuildinginLasVegas  2 года назад +1

      That is inaccurate. If the weather was cold you could turn and wait for the glow plugs to warm, however we are in the desert. Also you would be hard pressed to find a operator that takes the time to do that every time he fires up the machine, its pointless mid day in the heat! All that aside thank you for watching and keep gaining that KNAWledge
