much of the problem is actually the ppl from Western countries themselves, going on holidays in other countries and doing what everyone does best while on vacation: spending money... all the locals see is that rich Western ppl have lots and lots of money to spend, so their countries must be a golden haven if their citizens can spend this much money... what they don't see or seem to understand is that those same ppl work for that money the rest of the year... the moment that gets through the heads of those wanting to come to Western countries illegally, the problem will likely lessen in those areas (you'll still have the ppl fleeing from wars and stuff like that, but not the 'I wanna go to there to become rich' folks... or at least much less...)
I actually never quite understood why the US could simply not issue a non-citizen birth certificate if someone gave birth in the US like this woman was hoping. That way, even if she did give birth, her kid would not have any status in the US. It's not THAT difficult to do. If a set of parent are proper legal immigrants with proper documented status, fine. I can see their kid gaining US citizenship but if someone is a visitor like this lady, her baby won't be an automatic citizen. She obviously wanted her kid to be a US citizen by birth because she never showed up to the embassy the next day.
This is pure scam; they are many women who choose to go give birth in USA in a bid thinking their child will become a US citizen and enjoy all its benefits. I totally agree with the US policy to kick them out, reason being don't leech on the tax payers there for your own selfish gain.
