@@sulyvahnthetyrant7378 honestly it depends on what you think makes a good character. For me a good character is both entertaining and relevant to the story, which for me Giorno is both.
@Muhammedlee Giorno is the first anti hero in entire series, his intention was good, like Jonathan. But he was also cruel and manipulatively charming like DIO, willing to remove anyone who gets in his way. He was eager to make sacrifices for his team, whereas we haven't seen Jonathan making much of sacrifice. Just him sharing the spotlight with other characters in main cast doesn't make him -or Jotaro- boring. If he wouldn't come up with the idea of overthrowing Diavolo, Bucciarati would be still working under Polpo. So no, even though Bucciarati is a brilliant character, he isn't as morally gray and ambitious as Giorno thus interesting.
People often mistake a stoic personality with 'no personality'. Giorno has his flaws but his personality is not, and he's had a bit of shine on comedy, like the fed up truck driver or the healing Mista scene. Man, he even has feelings: he mourned Abbacchio's death, cried Narancia's, and felt inspired by Bruno's. You cannot tell me that he has no personality or feelings when Giorno himself shows that passion for his comrades and dreams. Jotaro is treated with the "no personality" argument as well. But people seem to ignore his charisma, he drops his own quips with a straight face or sometimes smiling. I loved when he was treated like shit by Steely Dan and said with a smile "I'm adding stuff to the list the shit you have done to me. by the end of this, you are paying back" and when he managed to beat him he said "here's your receipt". Or when he broke the Fourth wall, or when he called Kira's watch ugly. I found it funny and showed me that Jotaro has personality instead of what people say.
Giorno has a LOT of character development. He just centers on his own goals in the beginning of the season but then he understands that every member of Bruno's crew is not an asset but a human being. He cries when Narancia dies and put flowers on top of him to respect him. Protects Mista and inspire him to do the impossible, even when he thought of himself as a weak stand user (White album and green day fights). Proobed Abacchio and Fugo that he is willing to sacrifice himself instead of leaving a friend just to finish a task. Just because Jojo's doesn't necessarily explains Giorno's perspective as an anime or make the opponent cry for Giorno understanding his motivations like a crappy anime doesn't mean that he underdevolped and to me is one of the best protagonists in the series. (Sorry for my bad english)
@@roboticminer8843 When? How? Where? IDK why but he seemed pretty selfless when he got himself stabbed just so Abbac would use his power. In one of the first fights of the show so my disbelief isn't really suspended
I love Giorno soo much, and I never realized how many people dislike him but like Jotaro.. they’re very similar to each other.. especially when it comes to showing emotion, I’d argue that Giorno shows more emotion than Jotaro does.
0:58 HE SAID THE THING! What I love about Giorno is how he´s written like what he is. Different than the rest of the Joestars. While the rest of the protagonists have some sort of change in their character, Giorno instead changes others around him. Just like DIO influenced others, only for good like Jonathan.
People mistake a character being stoic for a character having no personality. Giorno's personality IS that he is a stoic, cold blooded idealist who uses all means he can to approach his goal. He is obviously filled with rage about everything around him, he just shows it in the coldest possible manner, like a true gangster. He does not show his emotion, but I would say that through the entirety of his part he basically is seething with anger at the injustice of the world.
I think it’s because, unlike the rest of the protagonists, Giorno keeps a relatively cool head and demeanor. Even in comparison to Jotaro, he’s more composed and that’s “boring” because he’s not screaming his thoughts out loud.
i want to know how much people act in life so i can show you that when you call a character like giorno boring your also being unreliable to others who need the type that giorno is.
@@dreamiinotdream730 It's also the fact that he's just not a relatable character after the first few episodes. His whole story is literally just "I'm trying to become a top gangster because the one person who was nice to me was a gangster, and I guess I'll make friends along the way", and then he's super calm and cool and beats people up. He really is the least interesting character out of the main group despite being Jonathan/Dio's son
Name times when Giorno could have used that ability more. Seriously, name more times. People like to say that "well the ability of [insert character name] was forgotten" and then fail to mention times it could have been used later.
Like when Giorno unlocked GER and turned Diavolos finger (or was it a pebble?) Into a scorpion, and Diavolo crushed it. Diavolo shoulda been turned into jam that time Also, wouldn't Mista ripping out grass to make the snowboard count as ripping life off? It should reflect off to Mista and rip him in two.
@@Famneh1 His statement doesn't imply the lack of instrumentation in his theme. It specifies about the worth value of the piano part against others piano part.
Giorno suffers from the Tintin effect. In very early comics where Tintin was only character, everything happened to him. Over time, a large supporting cast of colorfur characters formed and all the they usually took the hits and Tintin became more of an observing character who figures the stuff out in the end. Same with Giorno. He becomes blander when Bruno's gang is such colorful characters.
"Mature" is when you become Mafia Boss in one week by piercing yourself with an arrow and obtain a God-like power to kill the schizo former Boss because fate told so.
4:08 I love how some main stands have gunshot sounds, and here GER sounds like a sniper rifle. After that 360 degree windup shot that banished Diavolo's soul out of the main Jojo timeline forevermore. A powerful rifle sounds like a fitting analogy for the stand's power
I really love him. While he doesn’t have the ability to state his feelings (symptom of childhood neglect), he responds with this ferocious tenacity to do the right thing through his actions. His strengths lay in his ability to relate to weak people, which is why he was so enraged by Ciocolata, who ravaged a town of helpless people. Even as he’s beating Diavolo, every punch has meaning and intent. He is just a teenager still, so when his friends die, he relapses into that silent, trembling state he reverted to as a neglected child. He feels real pain and suffering but can’t express it unless it is through justice/vengeance. He fights for his friends.
I think the point of Giorno was to get more of a look at the charm DIO had plus the determination of the Joestar bloodline. Golden Wind was never about Giorno just the effect he had on others.
In any other case, a character standing up for themselves and for the better good when in front of a mafioso, would be seen as completely stupid But I like that Giorno is someone who has the power to match his righteousness, and the coldness to defend himself against the horrible people that surround him and plot against him
My issue is most of these examples happen in his up time, I wanted to get more Giorno in his down time. I know more about Narancia because he likes listening to his Snoop Dogg on his beatbox, and having margarita pizza w/ lil mushrooms. Or how we can get that with other Parts on downtime, Joseph has a hard time reading a room, Jotaro gets irritated easily if he’s trying to relax, Josuke wanting to do relatable teenage pass time, Jolyne try to find entertainment from anything she can. (Hey there’s a crocodile! Stone Yeet!) I feel there was too little of that from Giorno after he joined Passione
I mean he is strict when it comes to his goals. We just see his dorm room but you can't get much more wider read from that aside from "Giorno goes to school and knows people." statement because he was focused on the lighter. His enthusiasm and obsession over his goal usually even resulted in funny moments. Such as the forcing the truck driver and the snake venom antidote scenes.
i mean we know giorno likes chocolate pudding and octopus salad and his favorite musician is jeff beck (the thing with characters food and music preferences is there for everyone on the bucci gang)
To be fair…we only actually deal with Giorno and his entire arc for a week…in universe his entire journey was shorter than the entirety of phantom blood
Giorno is cool as shit. From his design to his personality, it's badass. What bothers me is that the other characters were so good that they could overshadow Giorno and make him feel more like a side character for a significant chunk the story. Specially since the other characters had a lot of character development and Giorno's was subtle. However, I loved that Giorno, as another comment already stated, worked as a beacon of hope that propels other characters forward throughout part 5.
Love how he dodges the shovel at first not because of his own safety. But because he actively didn't want to kill the man at first because of his stand ability~ He was literally trying to give him a chance.
Lets not forget the resolve and faith he showed to Abbachio even though the first thing the guy did when he met him was make Giorno drink piss. Giorno essentially sacrificed himself during that fight just so Abbachio and Bucciarati had a better chance at winning. That kind of well-put faith to me shows that Giorno has some of the best instincts of any JoJo character

I Thought the general opinion on Giorno Was he was the most interesting in the series, i was wrong Giorno is my favourite protagonist in JoJo I feel that people who think that Giorno Is "boring" didn't like Golden Wind or JoJo
My only problem with giorno is we didn’t get his introspective enough. I really liked how in the beginning we would know what he was thinking like when he fought Bruno and was like “oh shit he gotta punchy ghost too”
I think that is because he had the least amount of character development in Bruno's gang and the fact that he ends up feeling a lot like Jotaro 2.0 even if they are completely different.

I enjoyed the rest of the show, just as long as it's good, no need to have things spelled out. Seen a whole ton of defenses on Giorno and I still think he's shit.
So I have to like a character who follows a life of crime a violence because it appeals to his twisted sense of justice, is largely bald and without discernable personality, Usually goes for the most obvious line of attack despite alleged strategic genius and an extremely powerful stand - even before GER and who in the end just wins from a mindless powerup just because If I don't, I am dumb for not 'getting him'.
First of all, mafia IS violent indeed, but are you going to leave the problem to who? The police? The Italian government? They were all bought by Passione if you paid attention to the series. So yeah, it had to be fire vs fire from the beggining if Giorno wanted to change what's better for society. Secondly, not all power-ups have to come due to training or some inherent logic to the anime, Giorno vs. Diavolo was more of an aesthetic representation of the fight between "the end justifies the means" versus truth itself and allow the power of destiny to overcome the fears of the heroes of part 5. You ain't dumb for not getting it, you should rewatch it and be more patient, cause Golden Wind isn't the best at first glance.
Yea I don’t think this changes anything. In terms of Jojos, Giorno really doesn’t stand out character wise. He’s not exceptionally outgoing or witty like Joseph or Josuke, nor is he justice giving like Jotaro or Jolyne. He’s not even like Jonathan or Dio. He’s just, boring. The rest of the cast is interesting, having way cooler abilities and backstories, I just think that Giorno was kind of a let down.
Giorno isn't boring, it's just Bruno is too awesome that he shadowed him. At first i seriously thought Bruno is the main character of this part, not Giorno
Well, Bruno is the leader of the team, the story is as much about his rebellion against the Boss then anything. Girono is the catalyst, but Bruno is the glue that keeps the gang going.
For me, i just thinked they promised too much about this character and delivered too low. I don't feel like he is a bad character, but he is far away from what was promised in the beggining and from the points that made other protagonists so unique
I like how the part with Giacchio was edited to cut out Giorno's speech, so it just seems like Giorno showed up, exchanged no words, and killed him instantly.
True, they should have used the clip of him and Mista after their fight with Ghiaccio, when he drank Abacchio's piss with his jellyfish teeth, when he purposely let himself get caught by Zucchero to prove his loyalty and respect to Bucciarati, when he stood up for Narancia as he's being scolded by Fugo after he lost the groceries in his fight with Formaggio, when he tried desperately to signal Mista of Sale's presence only for it to not work at all and afterwards venting his anger out on the poor truck driver. Point is, there are lots of scenes showcasing Giorno's personality and character, same with Jotaro.
If you think giorno is an underdeveloped character you need to rewatch part 5 again cuz my god how stupid you would sound if you actually say that he’s literally just cold like his father not that hard to figure out he’s just a good guy version of dio 🥱
@@bappojujubes981 I think its the fact that this doesn't show often, its static a lot of the time. Whenever we do see that side of Giorno its great, but I feel like he's just boring compared to other characters in a lot of fights. My favorite fight with him has to be against Baby Face where he is forced to think extremely quickly and ends up discovering a new ability. He had all the potential, it just felt static in the fights where he isn't the main focus. Like you said, Ghiacchio vs Mista, I couldn't stand Giorno. He came out of nowhere like a free win card at that point in what was otherwise an extremely interesting fight. Its almost like he's a bit too calm in those scenarios while we see him panic a lot earlier. I don't know how to describe it but its almost like he stopped feeling pain and we only get to see the determined side, not the struggles to hold onto hope. ngl though I really love Giorno as a character, especially in the Car Ride at the end with Bruno and him. It really showed a lot of his personality and how he reacts to it, putting him through even more emotional pain now that Abbachio was also gone.
@@bigthickdaddy Fair point, but the problem is that we already figured that out at like mid-way of the show. Giorno did not grow, he has always been "Giorno". Except for part 7 and even 8 where Araki has started to implement character development, the other parts suffer the same way. It's not to say that lacking character development equates to a boring character though, I personally think it's the impact they have on the other characters on a personal level. Take Jotaro as a bad example. He's stoic and plenty menacing, we get it. But he just doesn't contribute much to the part except as being a good friend. For many, that's already enough, but compared to the later parts, his stone-cold demeanour just isn't that captivating. But then, to be fair, we could just say Araki has been growing as a manga artist as well as a story writer.
I don’t think he is boring, but he definitely isn’t the most interesting JoJo. Part 5 was good bc all of the characters personalities played into eachother and made eachother mature and grow. Giorno didn’t have too much character development, instead he pushed the others into growing mentally. He was almost “perfect” from the beginning tbh

I get his Dad was an abusive manipulative sociopath, but I'm curious.

Jotaro is a better character but only because of his extended screentime in parts 4 and 6. Giorno is a great concept that just wasn't explored enough.

It is tho? Just the amount of people that say he's boring proves it
0:58 HE SAID THE THING!
What I love about Giorno is how he´s written like what he is. Different than the rest of the Joestars.
While the rest of the protagonists have some sort of change in their character, Giorno instead changes others around him.
Just like DIO influenced others, only for good like Jonathan.
Josuke and Giorno would be besties for sure
ok giorno funny but funny moments with joseph will be for 30 minutes💀
People mistake a character being stoic for a character having no personality.
Giorno's personality IS that he is a stoic, cold blooded idealist who uses all means he can to approach his goal. He is obviously filled with rage about everything around him, he just shows it in the coldest possible manner, like a true gangster. He does not show his emotion, but I would say that through the entirety of his part he basically is seething with anger at the injustice of the world.
By far the most brutal JoJo. Dio would be proud.
Giorno was a pretty cool protagonist. If you think he's boring, it's most likely because of how he acts in character.
I think it’s because, unlike the rest of the protagonists, Giorno keeps a relatively cool head and demeanor. Even in comparison to Jotaro, he’s more composed and that’s “boring” because he’s not screaming his thoughts out loud.
Giorno is like DIO with his charisma but mixed with Jonathan's good hart and sense of duty
WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY I... WHAT? ARE YOU SAYING THAT HE IS BORING?
i want to know how much people act in life so i can show you that when you call a character like giorno boring your also being unreliable to others who need the type that giorno is.
Do people forget he started as a guy utilizing his team members to actually caring for them and protecting them by the end?
please give examples friend, i dare you.
Aww, yes, Giorno's damage reflect ability which gets forgotten like 2 episodes after
Araki syndrome 🤷🏻♂️
Name times when Giorno could have used that ability more. Seriously, name more times. People like to say that "well the ability of [insert character name] was forgotten" and then fail to mention times it could have been used later.
It was never forgotten, Giorno just didn't have the opportunity to use this ability again
Like when Giorno unlocked GER and turned Diavolos finger (or was it a pebble?) Into a scorpion, and Diavolo crushed it. Diavolo shoulda been turned into jam that time
Also, wouldn't Mista ripping out grass to make the snowboard count as ripping life off? It should reflect off to Mista and rip him in two.
@@smickothesmickest I'm pretty sure that scene with Diavolo was not in the manga, so it's a mistake made by David Production rather than Araki himself

He beat Diavolo to a river, his mom is proud of him now
Part 5 haters when a teen that has to team up with people that he never met before doesn't show any emotion (omg he is shy that's unacceptable)
He fights for his friends.
im still flabbergasted at the fact that mr piss eye didnt know what a frog was
People who trash on Giorno for having little character development forget that static characters aren't always a bad thing
I think he's not bland he's just a mix of Jonathan and Dio that's all. So what I see of him is to be expected
I think the point of Giorno was to get more of a look at the charm DIO had plus the determination of the Joestar bloodline. Golden Wind was never about Giorno just the effect he had on others.
In any other case, a character standing up for themselves and for the better good when in front of a mafioso, would be seen as completely stupid
But I like that Giorno is someone who has the power to match his righteousness, and the coldness to defend himself against the horrible people that surround him and plot against him
My dream is GER with Dio's voice. It would be a masterclass.
2:49 Dio: "That's my son!"
"I was so bored I did a piercing on my belly button"

To be fair…we only actually deal with Giorno and his entire arc for a week…in universe his entire journey was shorter than the entirety of phantom blood

Giorno is cool as shit. From his design to his personality, it's badass.
What bothers me is that the other characters were so good that they could overshadow Giorno and make him feel more like a side character for a significant chunk the story. Specially since the other characters had a lot of character development and Giorno's was subtle.
However, I loved that Giorno, as another comment already stated, worked as a beacon of hope that propels other characters forward throughout part 5.

The son of Johnathan and DIO is truly one of the best characters in the series
I like how gold experience poses when it finishes a barrage attack
Almost every physical stand does that
I think that special pose is a call back to Jonathan Joestar
Love how he dodges the shovel at first not because of his own safety. But because he actively didn't want to kill the man at first because of his stand ability~ He was literally trying to give him a chance.
Lets not forget the resolve and faith he showed to Abbachio even though the first thing the guy did when he met him was make Giorno drink piss. Giorno essentially sacrificed himself during that fight just so Abbachio and Bucciarati had a better chance at winning.
That kind of well-put faith to me shows that Giorno has some of the best instincts of any JoJo character

I enjoyed the rest of the show, just as long as it's good, no need to have things spelled out. Seen a whole ton of defenses on Giorno and I still think he's shit.
Exactly my thoughts bro, Giorno is an amazing character.
Or maybe they just don't find him interesting?
Can't get enough of that 7 page beatdown and the wryyy slipped in it
Yea I don’t think this changes anything.

Damn you're right, 4 minutes out of 39 22 minute episodes really is a lot of cool stuff
I like how the part with Giacchio was edited to cut out Giorno's speech, so it just seems like Giorno showed up, exchanged no words, and killed him instantly.
No one said he didn't have insane abilities, but doing cool shit is not a substitute for character development

I keep forgetting how beautiful Part 5 visual is
I don’t think he is boring, but he definitely isn’t the most interesting JoJo. Part 5 was good bc all of the characters personalities played into eachother and made eachother mature and grow. Villain: gets his head smashed in, pretty sure it's instead death.
Giorno: starts telling the villain about his stand power and tells him not to make him repeat himself.
giorno isnt boring its because of his backstory
For some reason, I kinda find Jotaro and Giorno almost the same. I can't put a finger on what it is, but it's something.
