Great review! Love seeing the channel covering more NA specific models when possible. It would be interesting to see your take on this car's main competitors the Acura MDX and Infiniti QX60 eventually!
well he did say GLS and X7 because the TX is closer to them in terms of size and interior space. the only reason why mdx and qx60 are mentioned is the price points, as those vehicles interior space and exterior are not as big as the TX
Remember the day that the standard of measuring the boot/ trunk space changes from litres to number of Leah’s. We look forward to this being the standard used for all future videos! 😂👍🏼
Love the review man, the TX is such a smart move for Lexus in the US, and the Plug-in hybrid V6 engine is going to be sweet. Idk if i would compare the TX to the likes of the GLS or X7, space wise, it’s very similar but price wise, the TX tops out where a base model GLS or X7 start
the TX interior-wise is very similar to an X7 and a GLS since every other crossover with 3 rows are smaller unless you put the new GMC acadia into the mix
I know you're Germany-based, but Americans would likely compare the TX 500h to the BMW X7 or MB GLS, but not the 350. The TX 350 Luxury is about $73,000. Most X7s and GLS are going to run $90,000+ in the US. The TX 500h, meanwhile, runs about $79,000. This vehicle is for people who should have minivans, but are too embarrassed to drive them not realizing that in today's world this is a minivan and the people who drive minivans are indeed actually cooler than the people who avoid them at all costs and drive compromised large SUVs instead! :) Love your channel and your informed perspectives. Always high quality reviews!!
Cheers! Well its just the engine, actually the 500h is just a second quicker but on the other hand the gearbox of the 300 is way more comparable to the Germans than the eCVT in the 500h
Lexus TX & Lexus TX F Sport series is only built in Princeton Indiana(where I’m based) TMMI (Toyota Manufacturing of Indiana) The Texas plant has nothing to do with the Lexus TX. We only shipped it to them and the Texas plant places the manufacturing tag on it. Grand Highlander is also built at TMMI. Highlander & Sienna are also built at TMMI. Full production started in Oct 2023. Test production started mid August 2023, only few were built between mid August and mid September. As of now we at TMMI are not producing any Right Hand TX or TX F Sport options. Note: Grand Highlander & Lexus TX + TX F Sport Series are built on the same frame as the Highlander.

Hello from Russia. Thanks for the review and the beautiful location. I like your correct and aesthetic presentation of information. I have a question. Didn't this model replace the Toyota Highlander or Venza?
@@autogefuehl aaa, noooooo 🤷 Hehe ok , sad that is not coming but i understand bcs in Europe people dont buy much the large SUV and thank you for answering 🙏
Interesting - at 4 min 46 s you are testing the door closing sound. And that is solid. However the door frame or archtrave (for the lack of better word) is not properly in place/fitted. For some reason this is quite common irrespective of the manfuacturer. But even with Lexus?
Hello Thomas, I enjoy your videos one correction. The reference you made about Texas Lexus from the straight pipes. I believe that the comment was actually made on throttle house, by James.
I like the design. The user interface is great and corresponds to the quality I would expect from the German premium brands. Unfortunately, an SUV has too many disadvantages and you feel out of place with such a vehicle, especially in European traffic. A station wagon would be great. For me, there is still no offer on the market that could replace my E 400D T. The current models look great, but the ergonomics at Audi, BMW and Mercedes are so ridiculously bad that I'm definitely not going to invest 100k in them.
Looks like a great option for those who don't want to deal with a German car. Especially given that this one is the base model. It's cookie cutter, and that's exactly what people wanted. For more specialized vehicles, customers enjoy the GX for a luxury vehicle with amazing off-road capabilities, and a LX for those who want the pinnacle of luxury
Take a look at Ronny Dahl's review of the new Toyota 70Series 2.8D Auto if you like 4x4s. I suppose its bigger than the Ineos launch because the vehicle is tried & tested which now has a modern engine for the first time in 40 years an automatic gearbox from the factory. It is an uncomfortable brick, but I come Africa where when you own a modern SUV which drives terribly well on the highway at speed. The first soft sand you encounter, it just gets bogged down because the fancy electronics cannot cope without a low range gearbox & transfer case.
Thank you for your interesting test drive! Just to clarify additionally, would this TX or RX ride softer (on similar sized wheels)? Also, any plans to test drive the Grand Highlander and compare how it rides in comparison to the TX?
Door trim around window at 4:45 looks suspect. Pre-production model? Overall this car will sell extremely well in the US, where people want ride comfort, reliability, durability and good ownership experience Lexus offers in the US. I also think the design grows on you and looks quite modern in some colors vs ugly facelifted X7 and bland GLS. Yes, I am Lexus fanboy but also own some Porsche and MB (G Class). Lexus is the car I depend on most for daily driving.
actually lexus tx exist did not to compete with x7 or gls bcs x7 and gls considered as full size monoque suv but tx isnt, tx still classified as mid-size suv by toyota/lexus themself
I consider this along with the GLS and X7 to be full size CROSSOVERS. Your comment made me curious about how the TX compares in dimensions with those others and the TX and X7 are just fractions different sizes. This car is the same size as those. So its definitely not mid size. I would only consider stuff like a Suburban, Land Cruiser, Yukon full size SUVs as they are in their own category all together.
@@baronvonjo1929 Yes, I know that the dimensions are indeed long for this Lexus TX, even the Lexus LX which is listed as a full size SUV is actually 3-4 inches shorter than the Lexus TX. As Thomas said, this Lexus TX was originally a replacement for the Lexus RX-L (Lexus RX 6-7 seaters) because the 2023 Lexus RX series no longer has an L version, so the Lexus TX was made to become the Lexus RX with 7 seaters (different design but still on the same platform), so the Lexus TX competes against the BMW X5 and GLE but with 7 seaters. If we talk about size, the Lexus RX is actually too small (short) compared to the GLE, X5 or Q6 but they are still in the same class, namely mid-size SUVs. Remember, what classifies the Lexus TX or Grand Highlander as still being in the Mid-size SUV class is Toyota itself (you can watch it on the Toyota USA RUclips channel to find out more details), in Japan there is a Toyota Century SUV which is the same and is still on the same basis as lexus TX (V6 PHEV) but for century suv it is considered a monoque Full-size SUV
I have the same problem with this, that I have with that LBX. The interiors are just not at all premium enough. And the all black color scheme just makes it look really cheap. I really like Lexus but I dont understand why they are trying to move down market or whatever this is. It seems they are content in being in that segment bewteen mainstream and luxury brands. So I guess "premium"?
@baronvonjo1929 IMO, the Lexus LBX is one of the very few Lexus interiors that actually look luxurious, plus the LBX offers a new unique Lexus Bespoke Build program which offers personalized interior options.
@@TheBjjones Idk. If you look at this channels review of the interior it really didn't seem all the special compared to Lexus interiors of the past or the competition. It's a solid interior. But if it has that Lexus badge on the wheel it needs more.
I agree with you 100%. The interiors recently just not that premium looking. Just okay but nothing special. The GX has a better interior design. And that front grill on this TX makes it look a bit cheap. I don't doubt their mechanical integrity though.
When I saw this video on Autogefuhl I assumed the TX is coming to Europe. Unfortunately that's not the case, right? We aren't getting it here? I'd love to get a nicer, more posh Highlander with a lexus badge on it :D
Was not built in Texas. The Lexus TX & Lexus TX F Sport are only built in Princeton Indiana at TMMI (Toyota Manufacturing of Indiana) We shipped the vehicle to the Texas plant where they installed the manufacturers tag.
Interior cargo and passenger space, its not even close. The TX blows the LX out of the water for that. Thats why it's more comparable to the GLS and X7 in that regard.
Do you know if we Can expect it in Europe? Looks like ideal family SUV which would fit even grandparents 😅 And do we get second row bench only on TX350? And hybrids have captains chairs only?
I think Toyota chose to not place the front plate as it’s required in Texas, at least for use on TX roads. Some here take the risk and don’t install the front plate, but I’d rather not give the police a reason to pull me over 😀
@@autogefuehlIt seems like Lexus didn't have any input in this model at all. I hope this isn't a preview to future Lexus models. Build quality doesn't seem great. The legacy manufacturers are dropping the ball big time. First Mercedes now Lexus.
Reliability is still top notch with Toyota and Lexus. Visible build quality however is another thing. In my RX review the hood was shaking on the Autobahn: ruclips.net/video/L1-_lBvVDCo/видео.html
Lexus, send it to EU, as hybrid max and phev and Toyota, send Grand Highlander Hybrid ( the same as in Highlander) to EU too. Highlander is much less comfortable in third row than GH and looks so weaker. Go Toyota, go Lexus !!
Toyota/Lexus' low beam always be very short distance only & they're pointed really down to the ground, compare to European brand like BMW/Merc, their low beam is really far reach & powerful. However in smaller roads, I personally find European car's headlights bit glaring as a traffic. 🤔🤔
Lookswise it looks so cheap compared to the RX and its competitors the GLS and X7. Looks more like in the Hyundai Palisade and Honda Pilot price class.

Lexus lane assist is like the drunken Chin Gentsai from King of Fighters arcade game
Can we all just agree to call it the Lexux Texas?
Was not built in Texas. The Lexus TX & Lexus TX F Sport are only built in Princeton Indiana at TMMI (Toyota Manufacturing of Indiana) We shipped the vehicle to the Texas plant where they installed the manufacturers tag.
@chappelln
Yeah, I just like how it sounds though lol
I would buy this. But not in Europe yet.
Would be nice if this came to europe.
Surely the LX is more comparable with the X7 and GLS not this?
The LX fits in the size and the usage, the GX is more offroad capable. Lexus kinda has a double offer in that respect
Interior cargo and passenger space, its not even close. The TX blows the LX out of the water for that. Thats why it's more comparable to the GLS and X7 in that regard.
Thomas what Oakley glasses are those and what lens type? They look sexy!
Thanks 🙏 its this new wooden-alike style, dont know the model name though
is that a rebadged Highlander?
Grand Highlander
Do you know if we Can expect it in Europe? Looks like ideal family SUV which would fit even grandparents 😅
And do we get second row bench only on TX350? And hybrids have captains chairs only?
Wont come to Europe indeed
Hm not sure good ques about the captains seats
@4:42 the door trim looks very misaligned!
I reckon darth vadar would have had one 😀
Did you notice that the door trim on the driver's door is falling off as you were opening and closing it. That's not up to Lexus build quality
Yeah I noticed today when I was at a parking lot, shocked myself
Built at a Toyota plant.
Looks like this is the Lexus grand highlander
I think Toyota chose to not place the front plate as it’s required in Texas, at least for use on TX roads. Some here take the risk and don’t install the front plate, but I’d rather not give the police a reason to pull me over 😀
Ohh interesting!
@@autogefuehl Front and rear plates are required in Illinois too!
I wonder how Lexus could do that then 😅
I’ve been driving in TX w/o a front plate for well over 15 years. No issues.
@@michaeldichael9978 I’m now tempted, at least if I didn’t already have mounting holes in the front bumper.
Der Grill - warum? 😮
That's my grand Highlander on luxury steroids
The LX has a higher price than the GLS, X7 and Escalade, but I just can't see this (TX) being an alternative to them regardless of price.
But the LX interior space and cargo space is poor compared to the TX. The TX closes the gap in terms of space to the Escalade, GLS, and X7.
@@normanli7085 The Escalade is much bigger than the X7 and GLS. RR too. Space aside this's not a direct competitor for the those 4....
Love your videos from Korea 😄
Cheers m8!
My name is Mr plough 😂😂😂😂😂
hahaha good one Homer
Nice, but I'm keeping my V8 GX460. That said, your 2020 Z4 S30i review ended up costing me a chunk of change 😳
😅
Lexus 👀
Looks like something darth vader would drive😃
At 4:44 is that piece of door trim by the window lifting? That's a worry for build quality. It shouldn't be lifting. Very unlike Lexus.
yes it is indeed...
“By your command”...
TX stands for Tyrannosaurus Rex
I suppose the average texan still find this to be a small car.. 😁
Hello mate
Lookswise it looks so cheap compared to the RX and its competitors the GLS and X7. Looks more like in the Hyundai Palisade and Honda Pilot price class.
Not a fan of the car. Just get the Toyota Highlander wgich is the same car underneath
Not a fan of Sedans or SUV.or electric cars .Seems that is all they are pushing down our throats are SUV ,
The front looks ugly.
I hope she is wearing BMW Sensafin pants and not real leather or else Thomas will be mad ! :)
For sure these are Thomas proof 😉
That grill is ridiculous ugly.
Lackluster & unappealing. The antithesis of a luxury SUV.
🤮
100% true this car is lackluster
Yeah its a pretty poor attempt by Lexus. Mostly the interior. Idk why they are cutting corners.
@@baronvonjo1929
Toyota/Lexus bean counters doing their job to make up for all the wasted money due to Toyota's failed Hydrogen/EV strategy & Lexus Billion dollar LFA debacle.
Versus what of the same price are you comparing it to?
Perfect car for Kindergardens
