The absolute second that property damage and barricading the building was done, it lost the peaceful protest moniker and thus lost the right to peaceful protest protections. Constitutional rights also come with responsibilities.

Though there is an unfortunate and inherent flaw to this. With outside actors in the mix, theoretically if they were the ones to cause the disruption, the right to free speech would then be violated and their freedom of expression dismantled unjustly.

@@terrapinflyer273 They moved into the building because they were being arrested. The building was historically occupied by other protests in the past. The school had a choice to allow this, they didn't. Didn't have anything to do with property damage. It's just an excuse.

The universities are the ones who chose to call the police. They let it happen, for some reason during finals week, and then said no more once it got violent.
