It all started with students but with the lack of response and days gone by agitators finally joined in and the protests grew.
Columbia has over 34, 000 students, 55% of them are here on foreign visas. The conditions on those visas forbid them from the actions they've taken. They can be deported, and should be!

Protests are meant to spread awareness through disturbing the peace, which makes a point to government bodies that people are willing to risk themselves to fight for a cause.

Protest has hostorically involved taking over buildings, including the last one in April 1969/1970. The only damage caused by these students today seems to be a minimal breaking of two small glass panels to gain entry. Why are the students painted as such villains here?
The NYPD are lying about ths students access to chains - they are bike chains found in the school store. Why are they lying? The police also did nothing while the student protestors were violently attacked by outsiders.
It's clear to see who is on what side. If your only concern is "peace" and quiet, rather than justice, well enjoy your authoritarian state because it'll take your protest away from you too. Protest is always bothersome, which is why it works. The campus will be fine either way. I don't see why people online are bothering to cry over the occupation of the building. Let the kids protest for justice.

I remember being 18 years old and I never had a doubt that I would be arrested or imprisoned for breaking the laws of whatever school, government building or public place I was in.
