Here's another Beaufort London fragrance that I sampled today, this time, Rake and Ruin. It's a smokey, ashy, leathery, pile of filth and really quite nice!
I searched particular for a review of this fragrance to compare it to my own thoughts. I find your description very accurate. An I liked your phrasing to convey your perception of the scent. Thank you!

Thanks a lot! I'm glad they seem better now, I decided to forget worrying about run time and just let it go, I prefer it this way too tbh. I'm thankful for everyones feedback to steer me in the right direction with this stuff though for sure, so thanks a lot!
I'm so glad you picked up the bbq sauce vibe from this house. I told a mate it smelled like "ye olde oak smoked hotdogs". It's also got a slight yatagan vibe about it imo. Animalic and spice. Think I'm gonna be getting a bottle of The Iron Duke though
This is a kind of love/hate relationship: The smoke and dirty leather is not something you really want there on your skin, but then it dries down to this most wonderful, sunbathed and warm wood that I absolutely love. But that lovely wood is way more subtle than the smoke, and only comes out after several hours. I always tell my girlftiend that ”I’m going to buy it” when I am a little drunk, but I have yet to fulfill my promise. But isn’t this what niche-perfumes are all about? This astonishment and questioning to whether you want to wear it or throw it out of the window? My god, I think I will place an order tonight!
Congratulations on quitting smoking! That's great! Probably the ONLY good thing that came from your bout with chicken pox, right? As far as Rake and Ruin goes, I loved that you said it was like a novelty fragrance. That makes sense to me. I love to smell all of these very conceptual scents, I just wouldn't want to wear them. Thanks a lot! Definitely the only good thing, but it's been great! Definitely I think this is a tough one to wear, just like Tonnerre, I loved them both but they're a real struggle to pull off around other people without getting the evil eye I think 😅I still have my heart set on both, but I can only see me wearing them at home, alone.. with all the doors and windows shut and the doorbell firmly ignored!
Actually it stinks like old pissed sweaty rags & ashtray with a bit of juniper. No hint of alcohol or sex. For this name Rake & Ruin I would choose Nasomatto Nudiflorum - leathery, musky, stinky smelly, wicked, smoky, woody, flowery enough - exactly sounds like Robbers & Prostitutes in a crowded bar )))
