- Thomas MacManus, senior lecturer in state crime at the School of Law, Queen Mary University of London, tells Al Jazeera that South Africa’s case was “very impressive”.
“They set out in a very concise way some devastating accusations strung together in such a legally sound way,” MacManus said, adding that he was impressed by the way its representatives presented the conduct and intent as well as their points related to jurisdiction.
South Africa’s arguments related to the urgency of the case, MacManus said, will be “the most devastating” from Israel’s point of view.

it takes a country which has fought against colonialism and apartheid where the UK, USA and Israel were the main backers to take this on. They have lived this kind of barbarity, the USA and UK supported apartheid South Africa all through the 1980's, Israel broke arms embargo's to keep SA army will stocked.
South Africa has courageously taken the lead in initiating legal proceedings against Israel over the alleged genocide in Gaza. The silence from countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on this issue is disheartening. Their inaction clearly signals their alignment with Israel. We express our heartfelt appreciation to South Africa for its bold stand in defense of humanity.
They decided not to bring the case, because SA bringing it was more impactful. The Palestinian observer at the UN let that slip at the end of a press conference on Monday or Tuesday. Can't remember the exact day right now. So, no, they are not with Israel.
Also they are supporting the case as a group via the OIC and the Arabic Legue. You might want to take a look at the Wikipedia page about the case. It lists all countries in support of SA bringing the case., including the 57 nations of the OIC.

As a South African that was on the receiving end of apartheid 😢, experienced and still appreciate to this day the then international support 🙌🏽; what an important time to be alive…to be able to support the marginalised just because of where they were born🍉. History teaches us that once all egoism has been exhausted, albeit at the cost of innocent civilians that most likely have no active interest in the egoistic or greedy intentions of those in power, the only sustainable and proven solution becomes acceptance from all angles ❤. I am proud of my country, in its diversity, that took this remarkable, noble and bold stance despite our own domestic problems.

I agree the presentation was very impressive. Even someone like me could easily follow their legal analysis. They explained many things in a very easy way to understand and illustrate everything and everything was very well summarised. Probably the most educated way to explain and demonstrate the alleged crimes committed by Israel. South Africa not only took a firm stance against genocide but also gave me hope on the concept of “international law”. Only regret is that South Africa was pretty much alone with the crimes committed by Israel and financed by the US.
