Forget gasoline and carburetor problems since mine's been new. I first installed the hutch mountain propane kit on it no treating fuel and no carburetor problems ever. This makes my generator run off propane, gasoline and even natural gas it comes with that in the hutch mountain kit.
Where did you find the Honda Companion with CO & Bluetooth? I can't find it anywhere in the US 🇺🇸? No one has them & all dealers tell me they have no idea when they will receive? Called the main Honda company customer service department. They told me they don't even know?! What the heck?!!! If you happen to know where to buy the Companion please let me know. Thanks!
I have just purchased a EU2200i generator/inverter and to no avail will not pair with my iPhone7 as I have rebooted the app, my phone tried correctly to pair to no avail will not pair. Is the iPhone7 the problem? Please advise.
I just got this model a few days ago. Have you had good luck so far ? I like the portability compared to my eu3000is, and being the new model, I've been wondering if others have had no issues to share (hopefully). Thanks
I had the 2000 model for over 9 years and the only thing I done to it was replace the rope never changed the spark plug or the air filter but I did change the oil after every camping trip
I have the old EU2200 and really don't have any intent of selling it. My question is, do these new features end up causing more problems than hey help?
I wasn't too enthusiastic about the bluetooth feature when I saw it in another video, but the maintenance minder does actually seem pretty useful, now that you pointed it out. I'm still probably going to buy a used, older model for half the price, though (I like to save money by buying used).
The maintenance reminders are a very useful feature. Also, the only time I've seen a use model at half the price of a new one is something that has lived a hard life on a construction job side and looked like it fell off a truck 3 times. I've watched the used market and typically see EU2000s sell for $800+
If you cut off a propane generator you should unplug the appliances, then cut off the propane and let it run out which only takes 4-6 seconds to cut off engine. Ideally you don't want pressure on the one way valve. It's safer and we'll make the one-way propane valve last longer.
Still happy with it? I am looking at the Companion so I can use it on my truck camper. I have a propane Onan generator and it will not run consistently and reliably. Ready to ditch it and replace with a Honda.
Been looking at propane. Looking for more information then have propane & gas. But propane setup is a little pricey! For the kit? The little information followed burns faster then gas. Thanks
Delta: Don't put ethanol gas in that thing... If you do you, make sure to drain the carb bowl and empty the gas tank. That crap gas junks up so bad you will be mad when you need it to run and it will not.
I'm not sure. There's no way to measure it other than let the generator run until it runs out of fuel. It's a far too time consuming process to undertake a test like that.
@@deltabravo1257 Just weigh the fuel being used on a scale before being run. while running. then after the run. Plot the fuel used vs time vs wattage output. Use an Extended Run Fuel Cap, a plastic bottle and a hanging digital scale

I just bought my 2200i with the CO minder. Ran like a top for the first 200 hours. Now it shuts off at exactly 2 hour intervals. Running outside in open environment. Running 1 small electric heater pulling 6.4 amps on eco mode. What a pain in the butt. When it shuts down the CO Minder fault light flashes . This feature is going to hurt the sale of these generators I just sold my trusty 8 year old Ryobi 2300 that never failed me the first time. Every year I would go on my fishing trip and that thing ran 24/7 for a solid week. Every year plus every weekend on our boat. Now I have to take this to the shop and there's no telling how long it will be before they can get this new generator part. Totally disappointed.
There might be a way to bypass the CO minder I haven't researched it yet though. I know someone in another video about this generator mentioned it, but hadn't researched it either.
One big disadvantage I can see is if you can shut the Honda generator down by bluetooth. Government can shut down your phone, electricity, water, natural gas, water and more. But my older Honda generator and other ones I have no Bluetooth nothing to shut down. I didn't like that Co minder meter something to break. But one guy showed he unplugged it in the generator still ran luckily. If an engine runs out of oxygen it's going to shut off. I have plenty of propane. I've converted my Honda both non Bluetooth 2200 and Honda 1000 generator to propane. I have bought one of these new 2200 Bluetooth generators but I'm wondering if I can run it without the Bluetooth junk. I think I can thinking about it. I remember one video where the guy already started it without linking it with the phone so it should work without the Bluetooth technology. But if you register it I would say government in the event of a natural disaster, martial law or whatever they declare can shut it down by satellite like everything else. And if you think this can never happen. Why can you not easily take the smartphone batteries out? This is so you can be tracked easily 24/7 GPS live time and recorded. I've always said if you can imagine it government already has it or is working on it. Because government has Daddy's Money. what is Daddy's Money? as long as they got a checkbook government will always have endless money.
Right On! Keep that old one. The new "features" make the unit less reliable. The only thing that should be interacting with the generator are hands and eyeballs. No auto self destruct and no remote kill. I'll get up and turn it off myself. CO detectors are cheap (because they have a limited lifespan) so if anyone is worried about CO, take the proper precautions etc. Honda could have made 2 REAL improvements ( a gas gauge and Watts or Amps meter) that would have practical use but chose to go with the politically correct CO Minder shutdown (and refuse to run once the CO sensor has reached end of life) and the phone toy BS. Final Note: If the CO Sensor reaches end of life thus preventing the generator from running, there is an alternative to taking it in to a dealer and replacing the CO sensor module. You can open the electrical panel and disconnect the CO sensor module completely (just unplug it) and the generator will run.
@@deltabravo1257 I am curious. What are the exact measurements W x H in millimeters of the CO-Sensor module (not the white outline printed box that takes up about 1/4th of the entire electrical panel) but the actual sensor that protrudes through the front of the panel? The reason I ask is that there are digital volt/amperage meters available that appear to be around the same size as the sensor module and they are cheap ($6-$20 on ebay) and it would be so easy to remove that CO-Sensor module, plop in the digital meter (and a small rubber gasket to seal the edges) and then connect up to AC terminals on the 20amp receptacle and fish the hot lead lead of the generator through the meter current pickup coil (the meters come with the coil included) and you'd have a great feature on the generator that you'd use every time you run it.
