I'm going through a different version of the same thing at the moment; I built a car between 2010 and 2016, got it all finished and legal (which is a challenge in Australia!)
Problem is, even though it makes me giggle when I play silly buggers, I barely actually drive it. The money and, more importantly, the garage space would be handy for something new, but can't bring myself to move it on because of the emotional investment into getting it done. So it sits... lurking in the garage!

The body is just a super tidy stock example, put a sun roof in it, nice factory wheels (ROH Azzurros for those interested) and a factory body kit (genuine Pursuit 250 front bar and aftermarket TE50 side skirts and rear bar)
Makes a healthy 500hp at the wheels but with the ECU it still cold starts and runs at town speeds like stock, so it came up really well. K series was the perfect swap for this build. For a lightweight road racer needs the lightest of motors with the most horsepower possible to get the best power to weight ratio for a absolutely killer road course killer. I can't wait to see this car hit the course putting down so seriously fast times. I absolutely love this car and would takenitnover many custom cars out here that sounds good but don't have the power to weight this car will have.

On finishing a project if your unmotivated/overwhelmed. Best way is to list and break down everything to make it , then commit to going out and doing two minutes of one of those items(you will end up spending more than 2minutes and actually start doing something). Finished my Fd rx7 signle turbo build from a blown engine in pieces project this way.

I've owned a Ferrari for 17 years and the Ferrari company don't even know I own it. This urban myth about Ferrari having a say in what someone does with their cars is bullshit. If it was a brand new car from a dealer showroom the might tell you to sod off, otherwise no company on the planet can stop you buying a used product. Blacklisted my arse, total urban myth.

My friends put a trans in the back of a 308, by extending 4 inches, and it worked, the bodywork got blended to take up the extra space and you just cannot tell..!! So on a 308 putting a transaxle in, is it cool yes..! but it took 4 top fab/ design guys almost 14 months and they have a workshop like me, CNC Machine, etc.. The 360 twin turbo engine that went in really is cool.. Motek ecu etc.. Very expensive and fun, great build and think ferrari won't bother you, it's very cool

How do you stay motivated? You have to want it bad enough! Best answer, not condescending at all. I've experienced this, once a project becomes a lot of work you start to consider whether it's worth it to finish, and if it is then it becomes an obsession!

Hey Mike I gotta laugh at your thoughts on the Ferrari chassis, and having worked on them I can only concur, engines aside they're like a home engineered kit car. I don't know if you know this but a journalist once asked Gordon Murray if he took inspiration for the McLaren F1 from the Ferrari F40, his reply was "No we couldn't find anyone who could weld that badly" .

V8: Volvo/Yamaha B8444S from an XC90 or S80. Wonderful transversal engine. It can be made larger by using the internals from a Yamaha outboard engine that had up to 5.6l.
VR6: from Volkswagen. Highly turboable, and powerful.
R6: Volvo B6304T5 with 350hp stock from an S60 Polestar.

Every build is detailed to absolute perfection to entail no modifications would be needed & if you do want upgrades & custom modifications, you are allowed, but under permission. Outstanding round up with a little click bait to lure us in :) I think you are right that Ferrari is not too concerned with the 308 so the chances of the cease and desist is pretty low. That said Ferrari did sue Conair for their use of the name Testarossa for their hair dryer but in the end lost despite some really clever lawyering on the part of Ferrari. I'll tell you the whole story over a RedBull some day. Hope all is well enjoy a well earned vacation.

A little aside comment… you are correct with your statement that water has a better heat dissipation factor than air but you loose more from the thermal barriers between air, aluminum, water, aluminum then air. Water inter-cooling is good for short sprints or drag racing especially as you can chill via ice or dry ice but longer runs and waters large thermal mass becomes a real problem where air to air inter-cooling with thin aluminum intercooler material have very small thermal mass compared so dissipate heat from its own mass much quicker and then can cool the charge air much faster. Plus they tend to be much lighter. Its why race cars normally run air-to-air unless packaging means air-to-water-to-air demands. 👍

Having personally driven somewhere around 12 to 15 laps on the nordschleife and multiple public track days on Spa in my personal "track day car"....Spa is BY FAR the better choice. It isn't even close. It only sounds crazy to someone who has never actually gone to either.
In fact over 4 years living in Germany, the main reason I only ended up driving a dozen or so laps on the Nordschleife in that timeframe is because Spa was so much more fun and enjoyable experience. I preferred to spend 300-400 euros for 4 or 5 sessions in a day on Spa than the 18 or so Euros per lap on the nordschleife. I actually stopped going to the nordschleife for the last two years I was there and just went to Spa every chance I got. They only held public track days a few times a year, and the availability was limited, and they often times were on weekdays during a regular work week...like a random Wednesday.....so I was pretty fortunate and got to attend more than I missed.

Mike, I’ve been following you since EP1 of the 244 GTK…. In re seize and desist, ask the guys from B is for build….. they got beaten bad for daring calling their Mustang the “Eleanor” and it went that far, that the had to surrender the car……. So now you know why I would never call an Eleanor worthy being part of my collection of cars….. all the best for you! You truly rock man!
In red tracks… Tsukuba…. Awww I’ve spend hundreds of hour on Forza on this marvel, I hated in when they discontinued this track, it’s tiny but the best teacher when it comes to learn the dynamics of a time attack run. I’ve done the Greenhell, well I was born some 60 mile north east of it,mand yes every of its miles is an adventure and thrill, but nothing, and I repeat nothing compares to La Source in Spa…
This curves every time challenges me to blink… nothing beats Radillion, thus my all time hero Stefan Beloff died on this curve combo, its, still the nightmare with open eyes! For me hands down, master Road of America or Atlanta, if not Sebring or Daytona’s infield …. Mike you’re killing me, but than you know how invested I’m in the matter car and Motorsport VERY! Thanks for being you Mike!
