Hi, i did not sand on the layer of clearcoat and flake. Because i use metalflake that is painted gold. If you hit that flake when you sand you rub of the paint on the flakes and they are silver underneath the gold, then you get å lot og silver spots and thats ruin the pain job. But me experiense is that the clear coat sticks very vel to itch layer and do not peal of. I have paintet many bikes for like 25 years and none of the clearcoat have pealed of yet... One question, why you don't mix the flakes in the base coat ? And later put on it clear coat all piece ? - dont understand , you put clear coat flakes together , so. Next step , you sand the clear coat to put red base and make the red lines with tape? The red color stick on clear coat without sand or you sand ? -And put again clear coat without flakes no sand . How much time I leave to dry the clear coat to next step , Flakes in base coat gold saves time . I have garage and I can do myself , sorry or my bad English , my native language is Spanish , Can you help me with that question

Hi, if you put the flakes in the base coat they will drown in the colour, they will all get the same colour as the base coat then you will not get the flakes effect.
After that there is no more base or solid colours. The rest of it is Candy, transparent colour. If you use solid colours on top of the flake you will loose the flake effect.
An importaint thing when you use flakes is that you cant sand as long as there is a chanse you will hit the flakes. the flakes witch i uses is gold. Well, there colour is gold but if you sand them you will learn that thet are silver with gold paint on top. So if you sand it and hit the flakes and rub of the gold paint on the flakes the job is ruined. Therefor, when you have put on the flakes, you have to put on several layers of clear so you are sure that you have a thick layer og clear that "hides" all the flakes before you sand it.

Me too, ha ha. do you mean the line that's outside all the graphics?
Thats the first one i lay down with a fineliner tape. Then i take one finelinertape on eatc side of that one. Then i remove the tape, the first one and when the tape is taken away thats a painting surface. thats the line outsode. then i make the pattern inside...
