A little fun fact, the title of this episode - Return of the Jedi actually refers to the “return” and redemption of a Jedi long thought dead … Anakin Skywalker.
Watching *Star Wars* with new friends? I'm in! *Star Wars* is for everyone. We'll usually only comment on something you might not understand and not spoil too much if we know you're a new fan.
@@tanninkline Not me. Those movies killed Star Wars for me as far as I'm concerned. But I think still think people should give their own true opinions of things, just as I do!
When Yoda says to Luke "Don't underestimate the powers of the Emperor" he isn't talking about literal power of the deathstar but he is warning Luke of how cunning and manipulative the Emperor is at using his opponents emotions agaisnt them to get an outcome that he desires as that is the Emperor's true power
Only partway through this reaction, but it sounds like you may be confused. The Death Star we see here is an entirely different construction from the one that was destroyed in the first movie. It’s not being repaired.
Back in the day, when I first saw photos (in fan magazines -- anyone remember those?) of the incomplete Death Star II, I thought the original had somehow only been partially destroyed.
yeah, its about 50% bigger and has a whole new energy system that can fire its planetkiller beam every few minutes. the 1st deathstar could do that only every 24 hours.
Thank you for the reactions. You were very funny. 😃 For those of us watching this original trilogy in the theaters, this seemed to be the end of Star Wars. Lucas moved on to other projects, and we'd hear nothing of new movies for about 13 years.
When the Ewok was killed, that is the first movie death I remember seeing. I cried. Of course, I was only 10 years old at the time, but it affected me greatly. Seeing this in the theater when it came out didn't help matters. 😅
I was 13 Years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars in the Movie Theatre and 16 Years old in 1980 when I saw The Empire Strikes Back. I was 19 Years old in 1983 when I saw Return of the Jedi in the movie theatre, Everyone was shocked and gasped when it was revealed that Princess Leia was Lukes Twin Sister, The Audience cheered when Darth Vader turned on the Emperor, Anakin Skywalker was the Jedi who returned. Luke hinted at it when he told the emperor that he was a Jedi like his father before him. In the original version Darth Vader did not say No before grabbing the emperor. Darth just kept looking back and forth before picking him up, In the original version the force ghost of Anakin Skywalker was portrayed by the older actor who played Darth Vader..
Hey, love your channel and I’m a huge Star Wars fan and don’t worry about those “true Star Wars fans”there’s no such thing. As long as you enjoy yourself that what counts 😊 May The Force Be With You
A bit of info that people living in the 70s and 80s would have known, especially from seeing action figures and other merchandise being sold in stores, is the full name of Princess Leia. Since this was common knowledge for years prior to the prequels being released, I believe that everyone watching the original trilogy should know this prior to watching the prequel trilogy. Her name was Princess Leia Organa.
23:27 He told Luke to bury it deep down so Vader and the emperor not could read it in his mind. Ben said that while you were commenting on it. Another reason, except for the translation of alien languages why subtitles are needed in the Star Wars Universe.
About Yoda, George Lucas always talked about him being a Yoda's species. For the little teddy bears, they are Ewoks. If you plan to go on with the prequels, some people like them & others hate them. I like because they give a good explanation about many things (what happened to jedis, the backstory of Vader and the emperor, and more--if you don't have a good memory, better take some notes, there are much more characters than the original trilogy. And some of them have more than one name (or double identities. I won't tell more to not spoil anything for you). Thanks and have a nice day.
Actually that’s not same Death Star, the first one was completely, totally destroyed. This is an attempt at creating a new Death Star. Or you might just call it Death Star 2.
Three movies in and it's well passed time someone let you know. It's... C-3PO C -- 3 -- P -- O ""Cee -- Three -- Pee -- Oh" Not "Three -- Cee -- Pee -- Oh" Lol
imagine who luke has lost until this moment in time: his aunt ant uncle, his mentor obi-wan, his father and he never knew his mother which died very young.
You can study online at the Force Academy. I did read about a girl that studied 12 years at the Academy and now can call herself a Jedi Master. You study online side by side with books corresponding to the subject you're studying at the moment. The books cost last time i looked around 11 dollars each. It's serious studies that help to sharpen the senses and the mind.
In the original release, it was the current Anakin, not the younger version, who appeared in ghost force form at the end. I prefer the original, frankly, but this ending has its merits when considered in its context. Lucas' additions to the film make sense mostly, too, but I still prefer the original trilogy. "The Empire Strikes Back" was the least-tampered with, and I appreciate that.
Congrats you still have 4 more movies to enjoy. (Prequels, Rouge One) No Spoilers. This trilogy... with its story and rich characters are the precise reasons for all the SW hype many, many years ago. As you have must have heard of the SW fandom dividing because of the damage the sequels did to the franchise. I would urge you to take time to digest and enjoy what you just experienced before proceeding any further. While the prequels are not as great as the Original Trilogy (how could they be), they do have its moments of greatness and they pay homage and respect to the original trilogy. Being they were created by George Lucas the original creator it is absolutely worth the watch. Some fans love those characters as much as the OT. Rogue One is also the only Disney era movie I'd recommend to watch. I personally would never recommend the "sequels" because as a lover of the original trilogy, it disrespects a lot of the characters from this trilogy and it attempts to erase the importance of this trilogy altogether. So for those who actually enjoyed or loved the original trilogy it is a hard PASS. There are some fans that don't care about these characters and rather just want to see lightsabers and space battles, so for them they will accept anything as long as those movies have that in them and it is labeled Star Wars. If you are not invested in these original trilogy characters, then by all means watch the "Sequels" as it will continue to help get eyes on your channel. After all you do have a reaction channel,. But speaking as a fan of the original work you just saw, If I am ignoring that this is a reaction channel, and that you are a human who really enjoyed these characters... then I'd never recommend watching them and allowing them to taint the magic of this trilogy with it. I'd recommend the animated series Star Wars The Clone Wars (after watching the prequels) over watching the sequels as well. Wishing you well regardless and I hope your channel continues to grow.
Your opinion concerning those of us (as someone who watched the OG trilogy as they were released at the theatre)who were not damaged by the sequels as some fanboys seem to be I enjoyed them for what they were. As OWK said "move along ... move along" 😊
@Monkeynut358 First this isn't my channel so I'm not looking for views🙄You seem to like explaining your thoughts ad nauseum so I'm glad I gave you more opportunity to do that. Here's some bleu cheese for that word salad. Enjoy
Please watch all of the movies. Ignore the haters. Every fandom has haters who think they are the biggest fans and know what should and shouldn't be, but these so-called fans miss the biggest messages from these movies. No movie is perfect. Every movie has flaws. Every movie has fans. And every movie has haters. So don't go into a movie thinking the majority of fans hate it. It's ALWAYS a minority with a very loud voice. The MAJORITY of fans love all of the movies.
A possible answer to why the Death Star still has the same weakness in this film: The Emperor, even as all-powerful as he is, is blinded by his arrogance. He knows that Luke and his Force Sensitivity were the only things that destroyed the first Death Star (with an assist from Han lol). And knowing that Luke will fall into his hands, the Rebels will be without their champion, and this Death Star should succeed where the last one failed. Never believe yourself to be omnipotent, the Dark Side can blind and take over even the most powerful users.
I remember there was a truly good strategy game "Star Wars: Empire at War". The first thing I did when I got The Death Star was the annihilation of this focking moon with all pathetic evocks (or how these miserable rats called?) in a focking dust. It was a pleasure)

Awesome you're watching them. So cool. Although its kinda funny how you call 3PO 3-CPO lol. Still after three films ha.

Some of the alien dialogue is subtitled so make sure you have the right subtitle track turned on.
"Poke him" 😂
"He's going to be so hungry." - lol, fair

Plus, this second Death Star was 3x as big as the original.

Jar Jar Binks did! And Anakin, to a lesser degree, but that was more about keeping him in charge.

Still getting C-3PO name wrong. Not 3-CPO. 😃
