  • People usually have mixed opinions when it comes to the Rotary engine. Because the Rotary engine is just a different engine compared to a traditional piston engine. It burned oil by design, it revved up to 9000rpm and it just had fewer parts.
    It also had a lot of negative drawbacks but despite all of that, Mazda wouldn't give up on the Rotary engine.
    So, even when they break down way sooner than a piston engine, why do car enthusiasts still go back to the it? Even if they know they would have to rebuild it after a few years. Why do they put up with it?
    In this video I discuss the truth about the Mazda's rotary engine and it's history.

    Mazda still had major problems in the 70's with the rotary and they almost went broke. Engines failed in all RX models. RX-8 has many failures also with some people going through 2 or 3 engines.

      True, I sometimes wonder what if enough research and development could have gone towards the rotary engine, maybe they could have tackled all the issues. But then again, emissions hehe..
