  • RV tour and walkthrough of our Lance 1985 Travel Trailer. What we like and dislike. Walkthrough of our Lance Model 1985 Travel Trailer. Join us as we walk you though our Lance travel trailer. We are Jason and Kim and we are RV Newbie's. We have had our lance travel trailer for just about a year now and have finally got around to doing a tour. We really love our RV as it allows us to get outdoors which is what this channel is all about. Our trailer is 24ft in length and has both a dinette and a coach. That is hard to find in a trailer of this size. There is also a good amount of storage which you will see from the video. The build quality is above average but like any RV we have had issues which we also discuss in this and our other videos. We hope you enjoy the tour. If you have any questions about our trailer or rv'ing in general please comment below. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Also, if you enjoyed the video and would like to see more please hit the like and subscribe button. Take Care.

    Thanks for sharing your rig. The other nice thing about the Murphy bed is that you can still use it when the slide is in like at a Walmart, or something. Some campers can’t do that.

      David Herndon David that is a great question and one Kim and I ask ourselves every know and again when we see other trailers. The simple answer is yes we would. The only other we would consider would be an Airstream but that is far outside of our budget. The Lance was expensive but the overall quality this far seems to be top notch. For the two of us it’s perfect. Hope that helps. Happy to answer any questions you may have.

      Hi Charlie. We have owned the trailer now a few years and have never had a single issue. Most rocks, debris etc hits much lower than the window itself. Not even a mark or scratch anywhere near the window.

    For a second I thought was my own trailer. We have exactly the 1985 and I have the exactly same Weight distribution system and I put the bars exactly on that spot. hahaha. Now that we are back form the trip I will design like a clamp or holder so I can put the bars in the tongue, Since I wont be moving the trailer without them, I prefer to put them there and no use space in the trailer. And I keep them greased and is not good to get grease everywhere. If you still have this trailer and you are interested, after I designad/3dprin themt/test I can send you a pair for free :)

    We love our 2019 Lance 1995...we have the Murphy bed option as well, (mattress is very comfortable!) just a bit more room. Easy towing and backing too. Only issue so far has been one brake dragging, which our dealer (Pacific Travel Center, Tacoma, Wa) adjusted under warranty, and we were back on the road in under 2 hours. The Lance dealer network is outstanding (with some exceptions sadly) nationwide. It is well worth $35 to become a lifetime member of Lance Owners of America, the info and mods and just the camaraderie is fabulous.

      Honu Maka thank you for watching. We unfortunately have had a lot of issues with our trailer. Been in the shop almost a month now. Not sure it’s a Lance issue or dealership issue but frustrating nonetheless. We had hoped spending the extra money would have been well spent but we are second guessing that now.

    Thank you so much for the review. I started looking at these last week. I have been only considering Class C because of towing and backing in, of which I am a bit apprehensive about. I think I will take the leap and practice, practice. I have a 2005 Nissan Frontier Nismo and it says I can tow up to 6200 lbs. So, hopefully I get really good and backing in and travelling over mountain passes. Again, Thanks so much!

    • @adventuresofjandk
      @adventuresofjandk  5 лет назад +5

      Thank you. We wanted to have both a couch and a dinette. Since the 1985 has a Murphy bed we decided to go that route. The bed is not the most comfortable. We talk about how we wish we had a standard bed sometimes but it is nice having the couch. We wanted a smaller trailer so that was the trade off. Are you thinking of buying a Lance?

  • @pattiedifraia9385
    @pattiedifraia9385 4 года назад +1

    We have the 2019 Lance 1685. Love it but always something that can be improved. Really wish the awning could operate without having to have the door closed over. Always worry that someone might forget and the bars might get bent. Replaced drop down lights over dinette with flush mount- no more head knocks when using area as bed. Other than that, love this trailer - going camping on Tuesday!! (We tow with a 2018 Tundra)

    • @adventuresofjandk

      Another important thing to keep an eye on, are the metal strips (flanges) along the slide opening at the bottom. There are thru bolts and screws. If the flanges help keep the slide mechanism in the wall. There can be a lot of pressure on them when the slide moves in and out, on some models. Just keep an eye to make sure the flanges a snug. This is why your trailer should be level and stabilizers down when slide is out. Good luck and Happy Travels BobnRobin

    • @adventuresofjandk
      @adventuresofjandk  3 года назад +1

    Excellent video, thanks, I do have to laugh at using gloves for dead bugs... grown men wearing gloves to change the oil, deal with sewage!? Seems a wee bit soft but, admittedly I am old from way back before we had disposable gloves. When I was young my Mom used gloves to dye material, that's it....

      Augie Mattheiss 😂. Thanks for the comment. I am definitely not a fan of bugs or sewer houses but it’s all part of the RV life.

    Thank you for the walk-though! I really appreciated seeing the slide in to see how functional if making a quick stop somewhere. We are considering the Lance 1995 or Outdoors RV 21RD/21RDS. What other RVs did you consider before settling on the Lance and what were the driving factors that made you choose it? We live in Idaho and want a better-built small rig that can handle washboard backroads to get to favorite fishing spots, etc. Would you feel comfortable towing your Lance on these surfaces? Chassis overbuilt enough or too light-duty? We will be towing with a 2016 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel.

      Marcelle Winn Fantastic questions. Funny part is we were also considering the Outdoor RV. Those seem awesome and well built. We live in Oregon. I believe they are manufactured here which we took into consideration. Lance are well built as everyone knows and I would feel comfortable on wash board roads but no matter what you buy there are going to be issues. We have had our fair shares. We bought the Lance in hopes it would hold up better. Only time will tell. If you have any other questions I am more than happy to help.

      JK’s Outdoor Journal one more question: Did you guys add a generator for boon docking? Is there room in trailer to store it while traveling or back of pick-up? Thanks again! I’m enjoying your vlog!

      @adventuresofjandk  5 лет назад +3

      Marcelle Winn we did I buy a Champion 3100 watt generator. We have to haul it in the back of the truck. Much too large to haul in the trailer. They do make smaller ones but you would need 2 of them to run the air conditioning. It’s no problem for us at all to haul it though as we have a cover on the truck. Hope that helps.

      We tow our 1995 with a Ram 1500 w/tow package, and keep our yamaha 2000 genny in the truck. With the torsion axle independent suspension and the 2 5/8" lift kit, and Goodyear tires (all standard cept the lift which is optional) we have no problems on unpaved roads. They also upgraded the frame in 2017. With 45g fresh water tank, 2 100 amp hr batteries and 3 standard propane tanks, we can easily boondock up to 2 weeks.

    HI, am also new to RV's . Thank you for your video...I am leaning toward this model. I'd like to ask you how you handled the negotiating during the buying process... I find it so confusing the answers on the web...some say 20% off MSRP and some say as much as 40%. Can you share your experience in the buying process? Thanks.

    • @adventuresofjandk
      @adventuresofjandk  4 года назад +1

      Hi Paul. Thanks for watching. I wouldn’t buy into too much with what folks say on blogs when it comes to negotiating trailer prices. It varies so much by brand. For instance, you are not going to get dealers to budge much on Airstreams, Lance, etc. They know they are high quality and charge a premium for it. I am a really good negotiator when it comes to car buying etc but buying a Lance was a whole other ball game. More important than price is buying from a local trusted dealer with good repair facilities. I emailed dealers across the Country and none would budge on price for the Lance. Pretty much paid full price for ours but worth it in the end as we don’t worry too much about quality. You are not going to get a huge break unless you maybe find a model that has been sitting a couple of years. It’s worth a shot don’t get me wrong but don’t expect a huge break or you will be disappointed.
