OG/Animated Scar is AMAZING! Live Action Scar/Taka sucks ass. At least in The Lion Guard, they gave a better reason for why Scar got his... well, Scar!
I adopted a random head cannon from Reddit and in a nutshell: there are two separate universes of the lion king, the first one is the animated version (all Lion king sequels and lion guard if you wanna count that one) And the live action one (technically still animated)
@angymaid3456 it's just like the live action little mermaid. people need to understand that the live action remake is only a reboot, and that if it were animated and took place in the same universe as the original and Ariel was still blackwashed, that would have been significantly worse. this is why i'm neutral to Velma being racewashed in her show, because it's an alternate universe
I agree. Sure Scar would grow in his resentment towards Mufasa, but it shouldn't happen so quickly like when he rushed to the villains and helped them. That is certainly not natural.
For me a better origin they could've given Scar was that he's insecure and socially awkward (Like his interactions with Sarabi but that's what he's like with everyone) the only reason why any of the lions even listen to him or hang out with him is because he's the prince/heir to the throne but when Mufasa shows up, it's not long until he becomes far more popular and beloved causing him to be sidelined most of the time. His parents even start favoring Mufasa over him, he grows more jealous and bitter the longer this goes on until he becomes the lion we know him as today.
The live action films implying/showing that Scar has already tried to take the throne from Mufasa before (to the point where Zazu says from the start that he should have been banished) fundamentally misunderstands the point of Scar's character, because the entire story hinges on him hiding in plain sight and plotting in secret. The original film heavily implies that Scar has just spent his whole life sitting around moping that he's not King, so it makes perfect sense that Mufasa and the others would just see him as a harmless nuisance rather than a threat. Mufasa is completely blindsided by Scar's betrayal during the stampede, because the thought that his brother hated him that much had literally never occurred to him until that very moment, and for all his whining, Scar had _never_ given him any actual reason to suspect it. Whereas turning this version of Scar into an active schemer with a history of publicly failed coups - in this movie's case, collaborating in a full on invasion - makes Mufasa look like a complete idiot and also makes everyone else look *really* stupid for not immediately realising that Scar was the killer, and the plot completely falls apart because of it.
Great point, but I feel like the "active schemer" thing fits the live action plot line, and probably was done deliberately. Going off the vibe, Live Action Scar is ALOT more dangerous looking. In the animated version he just acts catty when Mufasa shows up at his cave but in the Live Action version he straight up is seething with murderous intentions in front of Mufasa the whole time. Also note how Mufasa looks alot more scared during the gorge scene. The "Scar, help me" sounded alot more.... begging? It's almost like he knew Scar finally had the leverage over him again.
@ Which as already mentioned, still doesn't work, because nobody in their right mind would have kept this Scar around in the first place, and _everybody_ should have immediately suspected that he was the murderer. Yet the story still tries to play out exactly like the original where he actually _was_ a good manipulator who hid his intentions well, but since he never does that here it makes absolutely zero sense.
Taka is basically like if in Hunchback of Notre Dame Quasimodo went Batshit Insane and Evil, Went to Frollo and said "Master, I'll help you find the Court of Miracles and DESTROY All the G**sies!" Just to spite Esmerelda for rejecting him...Does It but then does a COMPLETE Unearned 1/80 and Turns on Frollo and saves Esmerelda like he ends up doing at the end of the movie.
Sorry being a smartass, but "one-eighty" is in reference to a 180° turn (i.e. turning to face the opposite direction), not a fraction of one-eightieth.
I feel like they decided to make Mufasa into one of the biggest Mary Sues I've ever seen, and to do that they had to give him Scar's best abilities (his intelligence, cunning, charisma, etc). So Taka just comes across as a proud oblivious idiot, which were ironically closer to Mufasa's flaws in the original film.
Bye Bye would be so much better if not only the animatic was followed, but _Kiros actually picked off Obasi's pride at the "Bye Bye" parts._ Seriously, you have a tribe of white lions (genetic mutations aside) who have been killing prides left and right so that their leader can be _the_ Lion King and rule everything the light touches and beyond, and while he does go after them initially because his son died trying to kill Obasi's biological and adopted sons respectively, he still would've done so regardless. Despite that, you give Kiros these neat lines mocking the Circle of Life and the rule of "everything the light touches", and you _don't_ have him actually kill anyone across the song? Hell, if the animatic is to be believed, the song originally took place after the sons escaped off a cliff. Why not focus to send them going "Bye Bye" over said cliff to their deaths till only Obasi and his mate are left, and end it with them killing them? Wasted True Potential.
I guess the visuals ruin the song "Bye Bye" Because since I heard it before seeing the movie it, by itself, sounds like a Classic Disney villain song, and like a cold cannibal psycopath who is belittling and demeaning his prey before killing him and either conquering or devouring his prey's Pride. Because of that and how catchy it is it became one of my favorite songs! Guess I'll be disappointed when iI watch the scene this song appears in...
Yeah that happens to me I listened to the soundtrack version so many times and loved it but when I saw it in theaters I was disappointed It lacks the visuals to match the song and they removed some lyrics from the lionesses

Eventually he gets convinced by a great fame and fortune, and does indeed become evil, except Mufasa defeats him sooner or later and becomes the king himself. What do you think?
The stupid thing is, is that the overuse the “Taka digging his claws into Mufasa” thing because if you look at the original you a CLEARLY see the fear in Mufasas eyes because Scar did it to keep him in place of the “long live the king” scene but it was also to hurt him. Also side note if Taka was really meant to be king then why the FUCK did his father name him Taka?????? P.S if you didn’t now Taka in Swahili mean “trash, waste or wanting more sooooo…..🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
It actually reminds me of the Maleficent movie where Maleficent is supposed to be the good fairy. But, the name Maleficent means evil so why name her that name when she's supposed to be good? Seriously, what's up with you, Disney? Lol
Don't forget that Taka/Scar was raised by his father who did absolutely NOTHING and was just chilling around all day, saying that's what male lions do, he didn't learn Taka/Scar anything on how to protect or fight, meanwhile Mufasa was raised by Taka's/Scar's mother and she learned him all those stuff, so in short it's all the father's fault on how Taka/Scar turned out to be
I feel like people have forgotten then a lot of villains major catalyst into villiany has to do with a woman not wanting them and wanting to be with someone else. Shredder from TMNT? People in real life will go nuts if they can't have someone they want. That's what makes it a good catalyst for villains. Simply because...it makes sense for people who aren't sane to go crazy when they don't get what they want.
Good point, except for one small detail: They all were bad people and were bad people. I don't remember with Shredder any woman so I'll leave him out of the picture, but I'm pretty sure the other 2 were more rotten then it seemed: Frollo is a genocide lusting monster, where on top of obsession of Esmeralda made him even more Crazy, Titan (Hal) was a incel and a creep. And there were clear little hints showing their villainy. Like Frollo was already monstrous to the Roman People and from Megamind, the moment Hall realized Roxane wants nothing to do with him and instead chooses his powers to do Evil (stealing and even offering Megamind to become a Team and rule the City) it becomes more clear that he was a bad person, who didn't deserve these powers. Taka? In the whole Movie he was portrayed as a anxious and kinda cowardly, but almost nothing leaded up that when he saw Mufasa getting romantic tension with Sarabi that he becomes that traitorous. I can see where that idea could have worked but compared to the Villains you mentioned (Frollo and Hall at least) there was no build up to that plot point (except his father saying males are dominant but can mean anything). Those are just my opinions
The movie was okay the animation was well done and the music wasn't that bad but the plot honestly felt rushed and i don't like how they recon scar and mufasa's origin when the original creator of the lion king stated mufasa and scar are blood brothers which if they stuck with that idea with this movie it would have made a even stronger impact on taka's resentment for mufasa because instead of becoming evil because the girl he liked choose his older brother over him. they could have instead made as they was born into the same family but since mufasa was the oldest and the stronger and braver he had the most attention and was worthy to be king while taka is slightly neglected for being genetically weaker and while smarter he relied on fighting dirty rather then fair and honor like his brother and so to their father could be seen as a path of a dishonorable king so choose mufasa as he showed much better potential and overtime as they grew up and more and more as taka's jealously of mufasa grew more and more but not enough to hate his brother entirely then they'd eventually meet up with sarabi amd her friend zira as teens but as taka falls in love with sarabi and taka asks his mother the only family that didn't ignore him for being weak advice on how he can get sarabi's heart and after hanging out with sarabi for month becoming good friends she only saw him as a brother and nothing more until the day he finally decided to confess to her he goes to tell her but instead sees her and mufasa cuddling together and licking each other as he watches from the shadows nearby in disbelief as his heart breaks and the feeling of betrayal along with his jealously and painful resentment for mufasa and his father combined with sarabi only seeing him as a friend and choosing his brother corrupted his spirit making it black as tar as the love he once had for mufasa becomes full hate as he runs away to the shadows confused and hurt where he'd eventually meet a certain group of young hyena teens..
I love scar in the original. He was one of my favorite Disney villains of all time growing up, and the Lion King was 1 of my first Disney movies of all time too. In Taka's defense, he's such a little bee-tch (screw RUclips automods so much) thanks to Obasi being a crappy king. Seriously, all he and his brother do is loaf around while Eshe and the lionesses do all the hunting. Obasi even points this out during Bye Bye. Hell, he even tells Taka to take all his bad decisions and cowardice to heart, saying that that's what makes a true king (ironic since Scar went out of his way to hunt for his own food in the 2019 film). Losing Obasi and Eshe was one thing, but then Sarabi choosing Mufasa despite Mufasa sticking to the whole "Give Taka the credit" plan makes him hurt, and then think back to his father's words, along with his initial not wanting an outsider like Mufasa as family, and falls back on his dear old dad's thought process, coming to blame Mufasa for everything that's gone wrong thus far, from losing his pride to losing his love interest. Like you said, the issue is that he turns heel way too quick. The fact he has a last-minute change of heart since "he always wanted a bra-thah!", even going on to save Mufasa from drowning despite some hesitance, shows that he could've just lived and yet lived, maybe found someone new... but then Mufasa becomes king, so not only does he have the lioness he fell for, he now rules as a king despite Taka being an actual blood prince of sorts. The fact he dubs himself Scar and has that final look cements he lets all this get to him, leading to his actions in the 2019 film, but it still could've been executed much better than it was.
I don’t understand how people moan at everything like scar is a good villain and it feel like every decent movie is just moaned about by those silly review people on youtube
I think Taka/Scar should've been by Mufasa's side no matter what until the animals chose Mufasa for king. He and Mufasa were outraged but reluctantly had to abide (mostly so the animals won't turn on him) and told Mufasa to rename him as Scar to remind him the sacrifice he did to save him from that lion.
um taka got a scar from a snake that bit his eye and that turns him evil and his name is scar look at him in the backstory of the lion guard. Where kion got the mark of the lions of the past.
i cant get invested in any of these characters relationships because theyre so rushed its just not believable, scar bretraying mufasa is rushed af and mufasa and sabari falling so deeply in love in the span of a few days upon meeting each other is also rushed af
mufasa beats sonic 3 at the box office even though it's bad, you know what will make a better pre-quel is that taka before he was scar is mufasa's brother by adoption.
I think he was a good villain in the original film but in mufasa the lion king... he became a villain just because he didint get the girl he wanted so yeah he kinda sucked when it came to being a villain in that film
I personally think this movie was decent. I feel like most people just hate on it because: 1: It’s a live-action Disney movie and 2: It’s competing with Sonic 3. But personally? I’d say give the movie a shot. It’s decent, the songs were ok. The animation and expressions are better and all of the characters are decent. I’d say give it a chance. They can wait til it goes on streaming but I’d say give it a chance.
Me and dad were gonna watch the live action but I was like, the animated is much better and my dad realized the CGI being bad in this film, that the original one is very goated, even the 2d animation and the emotions the characters display.
Finally, another M:TLK enjoyer! The original film is my favourite film of all time, and I cannot stand the remake. I hate it so much. The prequel was a massive improvement in every way. It actually fixed the issues the remake had.
Bro the thing about Mufasa freezing when Taka trying to save him wasn’t red flags it’s just because they wanted to reference any moment when Mufasa is down and Taka is above him to his death And how are you say Bye Bye was the worst song in the movie. It’s actually like one of the only good ones in my opinion. Like, I thought We Go Together was terrible..
The filn was rushed, and a lot of the plotholes are painfully evident on rewatches. Taka would have been a leagues better villain if it was more personal. The betrayal doesnt make sense imo
I actually like the 2019 lion king surely it does have problems but I still like it. Honestly I did not like when krios sang but I started to like it, and it’s actually my favorite song of the mufasa story
Do the dance anyway
I personally love Scar (in the original film). He’s a great villain

They can change the build-up where Scar/Taka is stronger than Mufasa, this could show the main character a growth mindset to surpass his brother.
i cant get invested in any of these characters relationships because theyre so rushed its just not believable, scar bretraying mufasa is rushed af and mufasa and sabari falling so deeply in love in the span of a few days upon meeting each other is also rushed af
Mufasa is literally transformers one bro.
"Before he was King mufasa.. he was Mufasa."
"Before he was Scar.. he was Taka."
mufasa beats sonic 3 at the box office even though it's bad, you know what will make a better pre-quel is that taka before he was scar is mufasa's brother by adoption.
than they will have this whole entire brothership from beginning to end before the lion guard was formed.
I think he was a good villain in the original film but in mufasa the lion king... he became a villain just because he didint get the girl he wanted so yeah he kinda sucked when it came to being a villain in that film
There's a reason people prefer Sonic 3
I personally think this movie was decent. I feel like most people just hate on it because:
1: It’s a live-action Disney movie
and 2: It’s competing with Sonic 3.
But personally? I’d say give the movie a shot. It’s decent, the songs were ok. The animation and expressions are better and all of the characters are decent. I’d say give it a chance. They can wait til it goes on streaming but I’d say give it a chance.
Why do Cartoon reviewers always hate Dinosaur?
Like do you hate it because it’s popular to hate it?
Me and dad were gonna watch the live action but I was like, the animated is much better and my dad realized the CGI being bad in this film, that the original one is very goated, even the 2d animation and the emotions the characters display.
The CGI isn't bad tho
"Scar is the best Disney villain of all time."
Ratigan would like a word with you.
"Sarabi got me acting up."
Can you clarify what you ment by that?
I was saying Taka was basically admitting that Sarabi was really beautiful 😂
@ Phew... Good thing you clarified
Play now they passed the 600 million mark. Only 400 million to go before they hit a billion
Finally, another M:TLK enjoyer!
The original film is my favourite film of all time, and I cannot stand the remake. I hate it so much. The prequel was a massive improvement in every way. It actually fixed the issues the remake had.
Hold up
Didn't we saw scar flash back of how he got his scar in the lion guardians
crosby always has W takes
Bro the thing about Mufasa freezing when Taka trying to save him wasn’t red flags it’s just because they wanted to reference any moment when Mufasa is down and Taka is above him to his death
And how are you say Bye Bye was the worst song in the movie. It’s actually like one of the only good ones in my opinion. Like, I thought We Go Together was terrible..
Like I’ve been seeing Mufasa get L man’s allegations
But he gave him a chance and HE FUMBLED
Better title, Why (Mufasa) Scar Is A Horrible Villain.
1:35 by far the worst villain song in Disney history
What are you talking about? Scar is the best villain 😂
The filn was rushed, and a lot of the plotholes are painfully evident on rewatches. Taka would have been a leagues better villain if it was more personal. The betrayal doesnt make sense imo
I actually think the live action lion king is really good and I like things looking realistic, so I like that one better.
Bro was not debating on killing him….?
10/10 ragebait
0:54 I will fight you on that😂
I actually like the 2019 lion king surely it does have problems but I still like it. Honestly I did not like when krios sang but I started to like it, and it’s actually my favorite song of the mufasa story
Nah...Judge Frollo is the GREATEST Disney Animated Villain...Scar 1994 is Second Though
If you want a good movie villain then just look at Eggman from sonic the hedgehog 3
“I’ve come to make an announcement-“
OG Scar is great
Remake Scar sucks.
Bro scar is the best Disney villain
Watch the video before you comment dawg
i don't have a problem with you liking the Mufafa movie. i disagree, but i can understand why you would give it an okay score
I liked the prequel.
I Love bey bey song
The reason he over reacted over a girl was because after loosing his whole route and family one more add to his pain and he would flip out.
The movie should have done a better job in establishing that.
@ I agree
mufasa is a great movie thi
