As thick as these books are, they are SO easy to fly through, and the shorter chapters help with that. I've said it a million times but I just love John Gwynne and I can't wait to get deeper into the series. They are just so readable!

I remember walking into a bookstore looking for something to read and I saw The Faithful and the Fallen and bought all four books. I read them in about two weeks and fell in love almost instantly. That was about three years ago, and I’ve reread them three times. The characters in this series are written to perfection, and this series got me out of a three year long reading slump and I’m so thankful for that.

If you have a book collecting problem then I am beyond help. I'm one of those who won't read a series until all the books are out, with some notable exceptions like Harry Potter and the Cosmere books. Sometimes it can bite me if I end up not liking the series but that doesn't happen often. I've had the first 3 of this series on my nook since they came out. Now I want to read them next because of you reading it. I just don't really like reading e-books.

@@mikesbookreviews For me it was WoT that made me a complete-series reader. I read the first book when it came out in 1990 then reread when the second book came out. I kept re-reading the previous books through book 5 and then decided I would wait for the rest of the series. I loved re-reading the books but it was taking time away from reading new books. I'm about 4/5 of the way through. I like that it is easy to read though wasn't best pleased about the cliffhanger chapter, but you are right, the next chapter was interesting, as is the story, so that you soon forget that cliffhanger. Listening to you, I did think 'ah' when you mentioned David Gemmel but (because I just looked it up) I was getting him confused with David Eddiings. I have read David Gemmel but, to be honest, I remember more of the David Edding's books that I have read. It will be interesting to see whether, twenty odd years down the line, I will remember John Gwynne's stories as well. Guess, I'll get an idea of that as I carry on reading, as I plan to. Thanks for an interesting video, Mike & apologies for this slightly confusing comment.

I've finished this series and am now over halfway through 'Of Blood and Bone'; I've loved them all (although the characters from TFATF will live with me forever I think). My question is, what should I read after 'Of Blood and Bone'? Much as I've enjoyed these books I feel the need for a break from so much battling and chopping off of various bits of people; I need a less violent read before I dive into more John Gwynne with the Bloodsworn Saga!

I just finished book 4. Its fantastic I recommend it. It starts with a prophecy foretold that the ancient war is coming back. Kings, gods, demons, chosen-one plus some crazy characters. Some few scenes reminded me of LOTR, then I understood why when the author mentioned in one of his books that he was motivated by the 'The Two Towers'. My favorite characters are Maquin and Veradis.

I definitely think he is my new favorite fantasy author. His books are incredibly readable and have a momentum that keeps you hooks. They have everything you want in an action fantasy book and none of the stuff you dont. After reading 7 Joe Abercrombie books i thought he would be my favorite, but even his books have a lot of things i dont like, namely cringy sex scenes that dont need to exist. But I dont thing there has been a single chapter of a Gwynn book i just hated reading.

I absolutely love your channel, man. In fact my copy of Malice just showed up today based on your recommendation.
