I couldn't do this without feeling like I was being selfish by denying other people the opportunity to buy whatever item is reduced and like i was ripping them off on the resale. There really should be a limit on how many one customer can buy.. also these 3× refills sell for like £6-£10 on ebay seems unlikely you would get £12 after fees.
It's up to him. Supply and Demand. His money his choice no quantity limit was set.
the vid was posted after selling a load at £16 i think he said, and i think hes sold most if not all of them now
Why should there be a limit on reduced to clear items? Their aim is to get rid to clear room for new stock.
@@theonedoige5810 I believe the point is people who wanted the item even more so for people who have a limited income would be denied an opportunity because someone wanted profit - its a no win situation
gentarofourze People with limited income won’t buy expensive 3M precut adhesive tape. They’ll buy a regular roll off-brand adhesive tape and scissors ✂️ to cut them.
Scotch tape isn’t a lifeline item. Fancy stationery supplies is a luxury. 3M knows that anyone could easily go overboard spending a lot on stationary supplies. That’s why 3M would sometimes sell you tape with free dispenser cheaply. Then when you get accustomed to using their product. Charge you more for the tape refills.
Man, I feel for anyone who only wanted one or two for their house...
I know whatever will they do without their selotape dispenser :( poor people
@@tomw3452 lmao, point taken - I get that *most* of us don't really need them.
Although that said, they are helpful for anyone with disabilities which affect their hands/arms. Shame they'll have to either go without or buy the exact same ones back off this guy for an extortionate price. IDK, it'd be nicer if professional ebayers just got their stock from wholesalers like other businesses do.
That’s an interesting point. I would be curious what price he could buy them wholesale for and if there is a reason he doesn’t just do that?
No realize but you do realize stuff like this gets manufactured every day or week right???they ran of out stock for the week but they will restock again its not a limited item that people can never get again
@@gregkareem9824 right, but if it's on sale (something private buyers in this area might have really benefitted from at the time) then it's unlikely the store was planning to restock the specific item. If they did, it'd cost them more with non-sale costs. I know I made the comment 2 years ago (kind of amazed it's still getting replies), but I am sticking to my guns when I say ebayers who consider themselves true 'business' sellers should absolutely seek new stock from an actual warehouse distributor. Buying reduced stock from supermarkets meant for private buyers is the kind of an amateur thing to do. Supermarkets should really put caps on how much a single buyer can take out.
Just after Xmas ASDA was selling PHD Diet Whey Powder for a fiver a bag. I could not believe it as i know they go for up to £23 a bag. So i bought the lot. Trolly loads of it everyday. I did get some funny looks from staff & customers as i loaded my trolly to the brim with a big smile on my face. But yes i bought over a hundred bags in week. Then ASDA realised they made a mistake and they went up to £16 a bag. I sold them for £18 on Ebay and they sold like hot cakes. Sold the lot by the end of Jan and made a fantastic profit. THANK YOU ASDA
it was because the hot cakes sold like hot cakes that they needed the diet powder
Hi ex-manager of ASDA here IF YOU EVER SHOW YOUR FACE!!!!!
i like that ASDA sell xmas pud before xmas day and diet powder after xmas day
or at least they tried to
Plot twist. He's got hundreds unsold and made loss of £600😅
Oh no sold the lot within 2 weeks. Found out later ASDA stores did not update the barcodes. @@kentcyclist
1 year old video...how many people think this video is related to the recent panic buying?
A lot apparently
Its a scummy thing to do no matter when it was.
Big corporations buy in bulk at cost price and sell to consumers at a higher price and no one bats an eye. A small business tries to do the same thing and everyone loses their mind.
@@neophearvr2723 Big business can cover the demand and no one misses out but when selfish indiviuals do it they create a problem. We are starting to put laws in place now here to stop it from happening. Anyone can call themselves a small business and buy out product, that is just greed and selfishness on top of the corporate greed and selfishness that already exists.
They were on the discount shelf, clearly demand was low already hence being on the discount shelf...
When I worked at Tesco we were told to not allow more than 10 of the same item to be bought by one customer for this reason. She should of refused the sale but a good result for you!
The store manager would make an exception especially for a clearence line, it's dead stock which costs the store a huge amount more by the space its taking up from other lines.
Nearly 20 years ago I started my own computer reseller company (I was direct account with Dell, Kaspersky etc etc) made a good living. Contacted a manufacturer in China and imported literally thousands of Inkjet cartridges. Cost was 35 pence per cartridge delivered to UK via air freight. he probably doesnt have a conscience just like the rest of the human race these days
Really don’t agree with clearing shelves like this, it’s not fair on normal punters who want to grab a bargain. And when you told that women to be quick because your having them all, how obnoxious are you,
Scotch Tape is a non-essential lifeline item. Any store would gladly sell you as many they have in stock. You’re not depriving anyone’s life or survival. When you clear out a shelf full of precuts adhesive tape. Unlike other parallel resellers who buys out all the baby milk formula, face masks, hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol or even toilet paper.
this is year old.........
It's a year old but his point is valid. The clearance of baby milk formula and nappies, for reselling, was downright evil.
I really like your thought processes that go into your selling. Finding every opportunity to maximise profits or make the whole process simpler is a great approach. More videos like this please.
Thanks, appreciate the comment :)
I don't think it is fair or ethical to buy all the items and sell them for an inflated price.
I mean that's literally the business model of the shop he's buying from and just about every business that sells products.
Clearing shelves in a Supermarket may not be the best video to have running at the moment!! Might be wise to pull this.
This is totally unrelated to Covid-19. There's absolutely no reason to pull the video.
It did feel a bit wrong, clearing the entire shelf and not leaving any for someone else to get a bargain. Having said that I did buy Sears entire stock of pinking shears for $2 each when on holiday in FL and the checkout girl said “can’t you get these in England”. 😂
I really think you should have been stopped at the checkout not something you should have done you were not being fair to other customers
I agree
In the U.K. If you're are self employed you tend to pay lower taxes because you don't get paid holidays ect. Hope that makes sense
Blime me. Who would spend that sort of money on Little bits of sellotape - would think people would buy a roll and a sellotape dispenser ! Good find !
You shouldn't actually be allowed to buy that many of one item. Supermarkets cap purchases to 20 per item per customer, so you're really lucky to have gotten away with this. I'd also never do this as it feels incredibly selfish.
it is selfish of him
it is not selfish, they are there to be bought. stop your woke nonsense

In the current climate other traders have been adopting the practice of clearing items from supermarket shelves to re-sell in their own shops at inflated prices t o cash in on the situation. I do have a problem with this type of behaviour and think there should be penalties for this type of thing . It’s depressing the mentality that some have looking to screw others over essential products like personal care/over the counter medicines. I don’t have a problem with what this specific product and what the guy is doing as free commerce needs buyers and sellers but profiteering through peoples fear and misfortune has to be discouraged and stopped, just my rant being a nurse who cannot get to the shops in time before the shelves are cleared.

PokeBoy TCG I’m grateful you mentioned the date as I didn’t look to be honest , I’m hoping some sanity will be restored to people panic buying and the the worst I’ve seen are the oldies when I’ve been getting small shops there loads of them clearing the place out ! It’s so unnecessary 😐
I realise this video was put up a year ago and the supermarket waned to clear the products but it put me in mind of what I saw several weeks back. Before "lockdown" I was walking through our local street market and saw a couple of small stalls {well barely stalls actually) selling toilet rolls and hand sanitiser at grossly inflated prices. The traders were telling people their suppliers were charging much higher prices now and this is what they had to charge customers. Total b s. They were not regular stall holders. They went round the supermarkets and just swiped products off the shelves while they could still get away with it and then sold them for huge profits. Sad to say that this is one war time mentality we could do without. Even sadder was that people were panicked into paying their prices. Blatant profiteering. Thank god that has stopped now.
Tesco dropped them to 13p each a couple days later after you bought them all fr 50p each

GioGoiBoi1 still made £600 ...
Pigfish Pie but would you pay £15 for 3 of them refills?? Also i bought one of these for 13p the wrist thing broke immediately and that tape is not that sticky!! And you get 50 pieces of it in my opinion the reason i think they reduced dramatically is because it was potentially a faulty batch
You have to grab it while you can, if I wait someone else buys it all. Can't see into the future, I would do the same thing again :)

I went into b and q and bought about 20 assorted hose extensions they were all reduced to 50p. Only problem was they didnt scan through as 50p and an employee had to stand and scan her code in everytime
This is something that happens very often with reduced prices at b and q, I ALWAYS double check the receipt because there's always something scanned at full price even if it was reduced.
You should put all similar vids, in a playlist. I’d deff binge watch em.
That made me laugh, especially when you told someone to grab one quick as you were having the lot. 😂
you could leave some of other people ...Taking them all is just being greedy IMHO
Oh yes, they were so popular that they were put on clearance...
As an ebay seller I was thinking when you bought it your going to have to send as a packet which would kill the sales. why not sell the full packs in a bulk ie 4 / 8 lots for say a craft group. Anyway, good deal and so much easier to store now they are small.
Poundland products are the best for shelf clearing, especially the electronics. I use to purchase for a pound and flip the product within a few hours for £7 It was absolutely amazing - downside is that it's seasonal, the products which I initially sold were taken off the shelves and I can't seem to find that same product anywhere else for a cheaper price. Even wholesalers are asking for a tad too much.
Fun to watch this but the end really shocked me. What happens with all of the dispensers and packaging?
Was only going to happen anyway, people don't keep these things forever.
That is a right result. Good thinking on splitting the packs down.
And among all of that, you didn’t forget to take a blue token.
The best money maker for me was a few years back when i used to send people to stores for me to buy pay as you go phones. I used to send average 250 per week to Singapore. I made `£8 per phone average and about £4 on the sim card. Finally i claimed vat back also.

Biggest bug bear of mine is eBay sellers profiting off shipping.
Recently bought a faulty laptop to fix up and sell on. Won it for £75 plus £17.99 next day "express" postage. Paid for it on Thursday morning, seller messaged me and said "Currently away and not back until Monday".... so that was a bummer from the start, they hadn't turned "Holiday mode" on either so no way for me to know.
Eventually it was dispatched on Tuesday since they got home late Monday night, sure it did arrive next day - but they sent it on a Royal Mail 24 Tracked service....
The price I paid for "Next day guaranteed by 1pm shipping" was £17.99
The price the seller actually paid for "Tracked 24 shipping" was £5.69
The box the seller sent it in was an old CEX shoebox style box, so no doubt one she had laying around and didn't cost her anything.
Seller made £12.30 PROFIT on shipping. That's insane. Usually I set shipping at just enough to cover the cost and often not even enough to cover the cost of shipping the item and take a hit of a few pounds out of the price the item sells for to cover the difference.
I'm sure I saw that you aim for a low-impact lifestyle in a caption to a different video, so how did you dispose of the packaging with a plastic bubble and the plastic dispensers after removing the refills?
The same way anyone else would have if they bought them. In the recycling.
You could probably get yourself an even better deal by going straight to the producer and buying from them.
What a great find Nic, and so smart to separate the tape from the dispenser. I probably would never have thought of that. What a space saver to get nearly the same money out of it. I definitely must look more into retail arbitrage. Every time I talk about it hubby gets nervous lol thanks for sharing :)
RA can be risky, but keep your eyes peeled and you will find some cracking deals.
Super find and love the smarts of splitting the refills out, can't believe the difference in space used.
We had a couple of the dispensers but couldn’t get the refills. Refused to pay the extortionate prices on eBay and amazon so bought a different type of dispenser that takes normal rolls.
Though this happened long before the virus problem, this is the mindset of the panic hoarders.
Disgusting. No thought about fellow humans. Just plain greedy. It would have been a little better to go to a wholesaler then the public could have had a chance to buy one.
that's exactly how I feel
Nobody need refills now because you bought all the things you put them in😂😂
gotta go back when the refills are on sale LOL
A good practice would have been to put them all in people letter box ^-^
"Oh I got a gift! How nice, let's buy some refills so I can use it"

Sold my old stuff from around the house on ebay. Purchased two pairs of popular sized yeezy in limited edition colour sold them for profit. Took some of that profile to buy a limited edition figure that wasn't being sold in the UK and sold that for profile. Its really not rocket science and its dead easy to get started.
What i would also say is that if its not your main job, save the money, look at rich dad poor dad and learn about assets and liabilities. If you have debts use the money to clear them ASAP. Put yourself at a financial advantage as soon as you get some assets to generate more income. I sat on my ass for 8mths reading about it then decided to focus on execution and getting it done.
Cut out the middle man and buy direct from the manufacturers, save even more money. Creating false demand isn't clever or beneficial to anyone. However, i know this is over a year old, so that can be excused from what's happening recently. Everything in a store like this should be limited, per person. At least in light of recent times.
Essentials should be limited, of course. I don't think there is a high demand for precut adhesive tape however.
So no one else gets the chance to buy reduced stock for cheap not good in my eyes
It is called capitalism
Do you really think the buyers at Tesco’s care if they get all the stock and other retailers such as Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s miss out? In business it’s everyone for themselves. All these people saying oh it’s greed etc need to give their heads a shake. If there’s money to be made on them and no restrictions on quantity put on by the shop then it’s always going to happen sooner or later.
i recall my local Tesco near work (Bar Hill) where selling AA branded 2 ton tow ropes with metal hooks at each end for 52p. I bought 6 and got some odd questions and faces. I kept 2 and gave my parents one each and my brother. Hell 10 quid to 52p was too good to pass up!

How do people do listings in “a few minutes”? I sell on eBay, usually one off antique or vintage items. I fully describe relevant details, faults & blemishes. I use the advanced listing tool. If I list something in less than 25 minutes I’m doing well but if there’s several items in one lot, it can easily take me 45 minutes or more. Many folk are so unobservant, so I describe detail that can already be seen in the photos. My descriptions, although concise, are comprehensive, so take time to write. How do other sellers list stuff so quickly?
He's selling loads of the same item. It's new so there are no flaws. He'll also use a bulk listing tool, which considerably speeds up the process.
Also, if you're drop-shipping (i.e. you never see the product - you just list it on ebay and and then buy it more cheaply from another supplier for them to send to the customer's addrsss), you usually only use stock images anyway.
Glad the dispensers won't go to waste and end up in a turtles throat or in landfill.
