So glad I came across your channel. I'm from Los Angeles and my husband and I are contemplating the idea of moving to the Philippines with our 3 young kids. My husband is also Filipino. Can't wait to see more videos.
Of course this episode is very informative. I totally understand your confusion and frustration, and you're so patient, wise and brave to make all your inquiries. I was waiting for Kuya's critique because I love his comments on food--they are refreshing, insightful and original. But all the best to you all.--Subscriber/Viewer from WDC, USA .
Hi Herminia! Thank you for the nice compliment! I think some viewers misunderstand the message we were trying to convey - WiFi speed is ok, but was not aware it was building dependent; also, we didn't know which service provider was telling the truth 😅. We tried filming inside the restaurant, but the music was too loud and was afraid of music copyright infringement. We've gotten dinged by YT before...
Some older condos are not yet wired for fiber optics. They are still copper cables. It’s fiber optics only up to the entrance to the building. That’s why the internet service provider, in all probability PLDT, told you you could get only up to 100 mbps. On the other hand, newer buildings already have fiber optics inside. So it’s fiber optics through and through. If you subscribe to 300 mbps, you will probably get close to 300 mbps.
We were told our building is only "half fiber" not sure how that makes sense but it is what it is and I'm just glad we have something that works! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for watching the vlog!
Feel free to ask the condo management or the unit owner. utility services, nice schools, nice place to hangout, etc. Its nice to see you guys enjoying the city life. 💁♂️
hi kabayan, you hit the nail right on its head. it is really true that we have the slowest wifi speed in the whole world, both famous provider just rake in the profits without modernizing or improving their infrastructure & service.
Omg. We're craving steak now 😋! Great video and tips. Yeah the wifi speeds are definitely an issue. Especially that upload speed. I would inquire about that and have them get a technician to come out and fix that. But yeah, it's weird. Wifi companies are stronger in certain areas or buildings than others and vice versa. We had PLDT before in another city. But here at our condo in McKinley, they had issues with PLDT. So SkyCable/broadband is what they offered. So far it's been good as far as uploading and speed. Once in a while the wifi acts up and then we just reboot. So sorry you guys have to deal with these things. But I guess it's all in the learning experience. Lol. Btw, Savvy Expat is one of our favorites too. They got some great content for incoming expats. Keep up the great content. Family meet up soon 😉! Ingat fam!
Hopefully the starlink will come as soon as possible for better internet connection in the Philippines! I am always looking forward to watch new videos from you guys, good luck!
Yes, would agree with@@courageousteen1734. Starlink is targeted at rural areas especially those hard to reach places. I doubt Starlink will have much effect for at least the major cities.
I believe you would do well to inquire with your neighbors and condo management because the different wifi carriers affect various locations differently. In our location here in New Manila, PLDT wifi is excellent while Globe is a bit erratic.
Thanks for the tip! We were able to discuss with the building admin and some neighbors who all had positive things to say about both Globe and PLDT. We're happy with the service so far and hope it continues to work well for us :)
Globe at Home is my internet provider and Im on unlimited plan and its performing beyond my expectation. 😊 BTW, the steak!!!! OMG.. it's a bomb! 😍 this is a very informative vlog especially for those who are planning to stay in BGC.
it's really nice to see you guys enjoying yourself and having fun! btw, yeah the temp here is getting colder now but when i say cold it means not as hot as the summer temp. 🤣 about your wifi, try getting a plan (post paid) for your home. try pldt or converge. it's not perfect but it's better than globe or smart coz it's unlimited. mine is 200mbp/s upload and download. 🤙 ill check if you have and fb page and ill tag you with my speed test. update: oops you guys already have a plan. i'm just gonna delete my plan details. 😅 anyways hope you'r upload speed picks up. -make sure you connect to 5g not 2g.
To be perfectly honest, Globe and PLDT/SMART telco and broadband services leaves much to be desired both in terms of QoS and customer service. We've been using Converge FiberX for our broadband for years, and it by far is much better than the two "leading" telcos. Not sure if they have it at BGC though.
get broadband aka a wired connection via fiber lines so that you can get faster speeds. Connecting to a WIFI that uses cell service is much slower. If you really want a wireless service, then a 5G hotspot device is the best. It costs 8k to 15k, you can buy from huawei. Typical speeds 100mbps up, usually 300mbps depending on your area.

"Don't do that to your nostrils that's going to get stuck that way" - this had me crackin' my relatives used to tell me the same whenever I used to make faces when was younger!
I have 2 fiber internet connections: 1 GLOBE 500Mbps and 1 PLDT 300Mbps. They're both ok, good enough for streaming for multiple gadgets and online gaming (Fortnite, COD, CS:GO, Valorant - as long as they're connected via Lan).
Converge is the new kid on the block. They had been laying fiber optics all over major cities the past years. You can try Converge. But for us, we stick with Sky broadband. We don't have any problem with Sky broadband so we don't change it. I think it's been our isp for more than 10 years already.
just get pldt, they have set of plan you can choose, for example one plan is 100mbps download and mostly the upload is the same as the download because it is fiber, it could be lower than 100mbps upload, but close to it.
You are definitely correct about Wifi speed in PH. I am paying 1,699 per mo for a supposedly 100 mbps. Sadly after so many speed tests, it has not yet reached 100 Mbps. The highest was 65 mbps and sometimes the connection is intermittent and speed could drop to 20 mbps. They claimed using fiber but it’s false advertising. Our regulatory agencies lack the teeth to correct the deficiency.
Try to connect on your 5G wifi channel and should be beside your router, hope this help 🥂 Working in Verizon for Fios, u guys literally innocent in terms of technology 😅
65mbps for fiber i doubt, and i doubt fiber is false advertisement. You might be connected to 2.4ghz because the peak speed of that band is 65mbps. Connect your device to 5ghz band to enjoy your plan.
When it comes with internet it is best to change your dns provider either cloudflare, quad9, or Nextdns. the default dns from your provider can monitor you such as streaming alot of videos etc which they can throttle you.
We used to live in Makati and we had PLDT fiber. Around 3k pesos a month with download speeds at 300mbps+ and upload at 150mbps+. Those rates were last year though....
Here in our place i think pldt wifi is the fastest one, not so expensive and you can have lots of data unlike globe that i tried before it was just limited of data so that"s why i choosed pldt bcuz i could upload videos and even download videos without taking much of time waiting!but it is just my own opinion and experienced guyss!
The best course of action to get best internet is to get opinions from neighbors, building managers, or try to search in Facebook Group for internet providers in the area.
Great idea! We have already signed up with PLDT and we've been able to connect with some neighbors in the building to compare speeds. Thank you for the suggestion and ingat po.
that upload speed is really slow. i’m outside of manila and our upload speed is around 40mbps (using pldt). maybe you can try home prepaid wifi? it is just basically a router and you put a sim card on it. this is good if you have a nice 4G/LTE signal in your home. and lastly if you’re in bgc you could just use 5G on your phone and turn on its hotspot whenever you are uploading.
When I moved back to Manila in 2016, I decided not to subscribe right away to any Wi-Fi provider and use my cousin’s connection in PLDT.. boy oh boy that Wi-Fi is nasty😂 I vowed not to get pldt then so the next available provider where we live is SkyCable. I live in the suburbs down south and during that time those 2 were the only options. I’ve been using SkyCable since 2017 and I’ve not had any major issues since. But if you live in a high rise in the city you do need to ask your bldg management and neighbors what Wi-Fi works best in the area.
Sadly there in no "full fiber" capabilities in our building according to the sales rep. We're good with what we have for the time being and it's working ok for us. At least we know now what to do if/when we eventually move to a province.
havent been in the Philippines for a decade now, but P.L.D.T. is known to be the worst ISP in the PH. Not sure about now, but I would say ask neighbors about their internet as it'll be your best way to know what's best for you.
Hello po recent sub here ❤️ Please try to use Smart prepaid data (in cellphone then utilize the hotspot 😉) when uploading your videos 😊 usually Data on cellphones (specifically smart) have pretty fast upload speed rather than Wifi 👍🏼 But honestly in terms of speed, it really depends on the location and the local community users; and also it could be faster on midnight 😅 Sending love from Pampanga,🇵🇭 💕
Our internet in the Philippines, is depend on you area. There are areas that Globe is better than PLDT. And areas that are better with PLDT. Unlike the US, that almost all the internet provider are the same in their services, fast and reliable.
Get in touch with foreigner vlogers who is living in BGC … may I recommend Making it happen in RUclips … their names are Mike & Nelly … they have been vlogging in the Philippines since way back before the pandemic … they have more than 600k subscribers … 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I hope so too! We'd love to organize something to help cheer on our friend Suzanne Perez who is competing in the Miss USA pageant in October - stay tuned. I will put information out in the RUclips feed once we have more details.
I am on both PLDT and Globe now, my Globe Fiber (PHP1699) at home where I do most work (been using for 8 years now), 50mbps download residential, 35mbps upload, a 3GB video takes 15 mins upload, not bad! My Globe Fiber never had a downtime, ZERO. My newly installed PLDT (PHP2299) in my studio (im rarely there) is 150mbps, very fast! Both companies promised 3 weeks to install, but both took only 3 days until their crew arrived. Just a few hiccups during 1st few weeks like wrong cable, wrong IP address etc. But after all that, todo esta bien! Your wifi will speed-up in a few days, probably testing your network etc, just have patience for everything in the Philippines. I know it sucks when things don't work as it should (especially app, bills, transportation), but the secret in thriving in the Philippines (especially Manila) is toleration, calmness and to slow down, haha! There is a transition this month for all networks. Our 8 year old Globe 50mbps will upgrade to 100mbps for free (It was 35mbps 8 years ago, still paying PHP1699). THERE IS NO GOOD WIFI in cafes and hotels, very rare, because they are expecting everyone to be on mobile data. I am on Globe prepaid data 5G, pretty fast upload in good 5G areas! My 5G goes between 50 to 150mbps on my iPhone 12 then I hotspot to my MacBook. Prepaid is enough for me when using internet when I'm out and about. It can upload 4K videos pretty fast. I love your channel! Subscribed!
Third party for the leading internet providers can set up installation in 3 days because they have special agreement with the providers in terms of priority and some of them have units available in their offices ready to be installed. Yeah, internet issues are common in the Philippines but there are news that Elon Musk's StarLink will invest in here in the future and when that happens unreliable internet connection will not be a problem anymore. Soon the leading providers today would lower their prices for the internet plan choices or even add more capabilities to upload and download data for the sake of competing with StarLink. The question is how soon can StarLink get into business in the Philippines and how much?
try the, filipino style ..eat in.a karinderya or turo turo or boodke fight you can also try VIKINGS in.MALL OF ASIA or in.CABALEN....you can.also try THE SINGING COOKS and WAITERS in.Roxas BLVD
When I was there I had the portable WiFi device and the portable WiFi plug in from globe. Depending on the location WiFi is definitely really good or really weak. Upload speeds/streaming are really slow lol
Hi. I'm a silent subscriber. First time to comment. As a PLDT Fibr user, if you have twitter account, you can DM PLDT Cares your problem with your upload speed. They do answer in DMs. Take note all the plans here are "UP TO". You will not really get the maximum speed unless if your PLDT line is near their NAP (it's their box that houses the lines. This is what Globe uses too. That's why they said it's no longer available because their NAP is already full). Distance of your line from their NAP is also a factor for the speed you are getting to. I hope your upload speed will change in few days. Just monitor it first then if no changes, DM them in twitter.
Thank you for the suggestion!! I haven't checked the speed recently, we just changed the way we do uploads and releasing videos for now. Hopefully I'll get the courage to go through the whole "customer service" process again - it was a bit difficult and I'm scarred lol
@@LLVT It's not scary but really frustrating. I've been there for years calling their hotlines. DM them on twitter and waiting for their answer, is more tolerable for me. Don't forget to provide them your speedtest result screenshot, your PLDT account number, your name, and your internet plan.
It’s best you choose PLDT. That’s we’re using for many many years. Wait, why 21 days? That’s so long. Call 171 using landline or smart or suncell line to inquire or follow up your application.
I asked why about the 21 day thing too but she told me that’s just how it is right now 🤔 we are glad we chose the 3rd party PLDT contractor instead. They got it done very quickly and installation only took a few minutes too. Thank you so much for watching and ingat ‘til next time 🇵🇭✌🏼
Here in our place in RIZAL angono specifically i used PLDT FBIR, We have a saying here pag may tiyaga may nilaga hahaha just kidding Converge is powered by PLDT but it is the best WiFi as of now
Very useful info especially to those thinking of moving to the BGC area. uhmm I wonder if you could talk without a mask on? I feel like it's hard to breathe for me watching you talk with a mask 😅
I will try to remove the mask whenever I can - there is still an ordinance within the city of Taguig which requires masks to be worn when out in public. I certainly don't want to be breaking any rules here in the Philippines :)
I think you should have go with the 2699 plan which I have, DL 615 MB , UP 471 MB. You can upload videos much faster, some vloggers here upload videos everyday.
Internet service providers in the PH are really frustrating. But your internet is ridiculously slow you should complain right away. I applied for pldt fiber during the onset of pandemic. I opted for 30mbps, and now I keep getting 50mbps dload (probably they upgraded, I dunno), 20+mbps upload. This is def ok for me. Although what frustrates me is when I encounter connection issues, its hard to connect to their customer service.
You’ve got great service for sure! We’ve been told that part of the issue is that our building is not a “full fiber” building so that is why the upload speed is so slow. Glad that it works though ☺️ and it just means we have to change up our schedule/routine in order to get videos out at the best time for our viewers.
What telco did you subscribe on? If you're living in bgc, go for globe as your ISP. The ayalas, who own bgc, is also the owner of globe, so I expect that globe signal would be very good in there.
@@LLVT Yes that's the problem with old condos. If you live in a condo thats been built i wound say 2014 onwards where fiber rolled out locally, it wouldn't be an issue. You'll get the same upload and download speeds. It also happend in our house in the US as the wiring of our house is old which led to problematic download and upload speeds and my parents are wandering why the speed in our house in the philippines is much fast than the ones in the US. Maybe, try the data plan with 5G router of smart or globe and not have a fix line from the building.
I agree with you that Globe is so far the fastest... but these telcos really over promise... they really lie about speed. We've tried sky, pldt and globe (attempted converge... but they don't serve the building we lived in before). I must say that PLDT is so far the WORST we've had... i hope they have better service now for your sake
Our service has been great with them. We did have it go out a few weeks back and it was while my son and husband were sick so the tech couldn’t come in to service it until their “isolation” period had lapsed. They fixed it quickly though.
Hi guys! Sad to say philippines is one of the worst wifi on earth😁 is a huge huge different from other country.😔 but it is what it is? More patience is the key😊 PLDT is not bad, just choose there high data. Stay safe guys and take care😊
Not entirely. People in the PH just like to pay for the cheapest plan and expect it to be blazing fast. I got 150mbps on globe fiber PHP1699 and Globe 5G on my phone is 50-150mbps. I have been around Europe, Asia and US where internet is very patchy, on and off. Average speeds in some cities 12-35mbps in Spain, Italy and France. Bangkok 50mbps. Well, Madrid, Milan and Paris, Seoul and the big cities got ultra speed 700mbps (sometimes). But internet in hotels never really work in europe! haha! Airport wifi always work though! I think wifi is almost the same around the world, it's just some hotel owners or buildings skimp on internet plans. Only exception is South Korea, Norway and big tech cities.
Hi, we avail of the same plan in PLDT. But your speed test results are definitely not good. Mine is in 200-300mps both in upload and download speed and yes we avail the 100mbps plan.
Wow! That's great to know, we are thinking about contacting customer service or tech support to see if there is anyway to increase the speed. We may also consider a new router. We'll see :)
We just got a promo from PLDT.. our original plan was 50mbit for 2.1k+ a month but now we only had to add 200 pesos for the 300mbit speed it started 2:weeks ago..not sure if they still have that promo tho I heard smart is pretty fast also but we're located outside the metro
That’s a fantastic deal! Our condo complex is only built for speed up to 100 mbps according to PLDT. Some other tenants have told us they have 200 mbps plans but they said they haven’t done a speed test so they don’t know exactly how fast it is. We’re happy to have the service that we do and very grateful to be able to put out the blogs for you all.
They probably have great Wi-Fi if they have a newer building with Fiber options… unfortunately we didn’t know that the speed was also dependent on the building as well. Glad to have learned this fact and hope it helps others too ☺️ thank you so much for watching and ingat po 🇵🇭✌🏼
Which steak is the best (wagyu, usda or black angus), please? We can’t get the 3 steaks because we are just 2. Kindly let me know the ratings of 3. Thank you! Also, try WOLFGANG (the best), then Raging Bull Steakhouse. Both are in BGC also. Make a vlog about them. Do your research first before going there.
We enjoyed all three very much - as far as preference goes I think Kuya liked the Wagyu because it had more marbling and was very "melt in your mouth" while I preferred the Angus steak not necessarily for the taste but because it reminded me of my childhood.
We do not have one right now - we are thinking of buying our own router eventually so perhaps that will help. I'm not very techy though so I will have to so some research. It seems to be working fine for the time being and we just try not to overuse devices all at the same time :)
I may have missed it but i want to know the reason why you decided to live in the Philippines? Looks like you have budgeted well financially to restart life in this country. Is your hubby a Filipino by descent?

Working in Verizon for Fios, u guys literally innocent in terms of technology 😅
Have a nice day and stay safe always to the whole family.
Thank you! You too!
Wow that food looks yummylicious enjoy your meal lovely family.
Thank you so much!
💛💛💛
Salamat and ingat 'til next time!
wow foods looks so yummy 😋
It was AMAZING!
Now that Wifi concerns have been resolved. You can now focus on starting some fun vlogventures. Enjoy your life here. ❤️🇵🇭🤗
That's the plan!
That connection is bad, if you still can change to Converge or SKY as long as it is Fiber internet. I have used Globe fiber for the past 6 years.
And also very expensive in the philippines and not reliable in every areas that you go also
Get in touch with foreigner vlogers who is living in BGC … may I recommend Making it happen in RUclips … their names are Mike & Nelly … they have been vlogging in the Philippines since way back before the pandemic … they have more than 600k subscribers … 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
They are such an inspiration! We hope to meet them one day :)
GLOBE is best if you are in the cities, however if you are in the province I guess it is better you also have SMART.
You can use GOMO which rides globe network and it does not expire.
Hello guys! Hope you're having a good time.
Wish to meet you in person. Hope you'll have a meet and greet session.
Subscribed!
Thank you so much for sharing this information - it is very valuable!
Kuya is goin to become a future chef🤙😎 is their a good school for culinary in manila?🧐🤔🤔🤔
Get a PLDT with a landline that comes with a modem router for the internet this also can act as the WIFI transceiver.
Get a the PLDT Fibr plans
try the, filipino style ..eat in.a karinderya or turo turo or boodke fight
you can also try VIKINGS in.MALL OF ASIA or in.CABALEN....you can.also try THE SINGING COOKS and WAITERS in.Roxas BLVD
You can do it. Ok.
When I was there I had the portable WiFi device and the portable WiFi plug in from globe. Depending on the location WiFi is definitely really good or really weak. Upload speeds/streaming are really slow lol
Chingolo Deli in Makati just check the time they open 😊 Internet here in PH sucks but we have no choice.
Yeah these salesmas isnt synchronized in terms of the info that their talking. I feel your frustration too cuz I experienced it
It’s best you choose PLDT.
Thank you so much for watching and ingat ‘til next time 🇵🇭✌🏼
@@LLVT same day or 2 days if it's an agent. Just look for the flyer ladies
@@LLVT You can also ask the condo receptionist for the flyers too! Contact the person in the flyer. Easy!!
Yes, that only takes 1-2days only not 21 days. Me myself can’t take that long. If your having problem 171 is PLDT’s hotline. Have fun and take care.
Your boys looks very Filipino. Hope they learn tagalog too. Being bilingual is an advantage.
tri lingual is much better, like most, English, Tagalog and local dialect
Mestizos
Here in our place in RIZAL angono specifically i used PLDT FBIR, We have a saying here pag may tiyaga may nilaga hahaha just kidding Converge is powered by PLDT but it is the best WiFi as of now
Thank you for sharing! We’ve been doing great with our PLDT plan so far, I’m happy with it!
Buy a modern for Wi-Fi for globe its fast or it depends on the location just load it monthly or weekly
Salamat po and ingat ‘til next time 🇵🇭✌🏼
Pldt putol kagad
Sa converge malakas pero pawala pawala yung connection kaya umaasa lang Ako sa wifi router na nabili ko Xiaomi
If you know any local o relatives that have connections with Globe agents, they can get you an account in less than a week. It's all about connection.
Also, if you have home wifi, you might want to opt for the most basic phone plans.
Hi guys! Sad to say philippines is one of the worst wifi on earth😁
is a huge huge different from other country.😔 but it is what it is?
More patience is the key😊
PLDT is not bad, just choose there high data.
We just got a promo from PLDT.. our original plan was 50mbit for 2.1k+ a month but now we only had to add 200 pesos for the 300mbit speed it started 2:weeks ago..not sure if they still have that promo tho
I heard smart is pretty fast also but we're located outside the metro
That’s a fantastic deal! Our condo complex is only built for speed up to 100 mbps according to PLDT. Some other tenants have told us they have 200 mbps plans but they said they haven’t done a speed test so they don’t know exactly how fast it is. We’re happy to have the service that we do and very grateful to be able to put out the blogs for you all.
@@LLVT PLDT user here. I am using 100mbps 1800 per month. so far okay naman 👍🏽
For home internet it is better PLDT.
Maybe you should be friends with Making it happen Vlog, I think they live around bgc.
the secret my dear is, video shot today plus one day then post the first haha. buffer.
when it comes to upload speed, converge is best.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for watching the channel!
Thanks!
Grateful to have you supporting the channel as always!! 🙏🏼❤️
Collab with Making It Happen, They been here for more than 1 to 2 years already and I believe they have a fast internet in there condo.
Ingats.....
Salamat po!
Try Sky Broadband Internet. 👍
Christina, Are you of an Argentinian descent?
Hello po, no I am not. I have Spanish ancestry as well as Native American and Mexican.
Maam where is your husband does he’s not coming with you here in the Philippines or he’s just going to stay in the states
Hello po! Answered on a recent vlog :) ruclips.net/video/Us2UGzlBptc/видео.html
one thing to consider im bringing when i go there is a WIFI booster...do u guys have that or thinking of getting one?
We do not have one right now - we are thinking of buying our own router eventually so perhaps that will help. I'm not very techy though so I will have to so some research. It seems to be working fine for the time being and we just try not to overuse devices all at the same time :)
I may have missed it but i want to know the reason why you decided to live in the Philippines? Looks like you have budgeted well financially to restart life in this country. Is your hubby a Filipino by descent?
Hello po! We answered this an a few others in a recent vlog :) ruclips.net/video/Us2UGzlBptc/видео.html
More vids. Pls.👉👍🏻
How is the SMART provider in your area?
I'm not sure actually, we haven't had any interaction with them nor have any of our neighbors suggested them.
