  • On the farm from new having being purchased in 1995 this JF FCT 850 is back out in the fields for it’s 27th silage making season on the farm. With the forager driven by the farms MF 7614, an immaculate 18-year-old MF 6465 Dynashift that previously powered the JF now changes over and carts the Marshall 8.5t trailers from the field to the farm while at the end a glimpse of the MF 390 buckrake tractor filling the undercover clamp. Much more footage of the pit work in my next video post. Filmed in Cumbria June 2022.

    Great video. I always liked the JF trailed harvesters and that's a nice one and going well

      Hi Jack. Yes doesn’t it look and sound well! I would say it’s got a good few years worth of work in it yet, definitely pays to look after your machinery.Apologies for the late reply, been very busy at work and out filming these last few days but thanks once again for watching and your comment. Always appreciated. Cheers, Dave.

      Thanks once again Stuart, pleased you enjoyed it. Yeh I thought I would just give a little taste of what’s coming up in the next video and what better than a Quick-detach (un)cabbed 390! It’s a lovely setup on this farm, a couple of more modern Masseys and loads of classics! Cheers, David.

    Running well….. we’ll set up….. a cheap way of getting grass in…. A day on that 390 well fit for the bed…..

      Hi Clive. Yeh sharp blades, plenty of grease and well matched to the tractor output = happy forager! Over the years the JF’s more than paid for itself and still very reliable and pretty cheap to run. Ha, yes you would feel ready for your kip after a day on the 390, no nice luxury cab here, proper air-con as they used to call it. Very little headroom in the silage shed so no chance of a modern tractor working inside but as it’s only one cut and all gathered in 2-3 days it’s not so much of a hardship! Many thanks for watching and your comment Clive, much appreciated. Cheers, Dave.

    I've never seen anyone towing a trailer with the forager before I don't think, always seem to go side by side here, nice catch.

    • @davidwinthrop7077
      @davidwinthrop7077  2 года назад +1

      Hi Jacob. As long as I can remember (and that’s a lot of years) they’ve always towed the trailer behind the forager here. Just a 3-man team so no choice but it’s a relatively short lead, sometimes 3 trailers and the chopper’s never kept waiting so the system obviously works well. Thanks for watching and your comment again my friend. Cheers, David.

    • @jacooboophotography

      Ah that makes sense David, here they all seem to do reasonably decent draws and have two or three trailers keeping the forager going, the reverse drive forager we have here is quite a sight!

      Yes lots of trailers needed with the output of today’s foragers Jacob even on a fairly short lead. Absolutely love that Fendt and the reverse drive Mengele. What an outfit and something you definitely won’t see everyday.

    Hi David. How MF deals with JF Stoll? How much power do you need for a forage harvester? What model JF is it?

    • @davidwinthrop7077
      @davidwinthrop7077  Год назад +1

      Hi KH. MF with has 140hp engine power copes easily with the JF, it has two 2.4mtr swaths rowed into one by a haybob 380. 100hp would be more than sufficient to drive this forage harvester, I know of a couple of farmers using this power to drive similar machines. Its an JF FCT 850, bought brand new in 1995, one owner and never been any trouble. Hope this helps? Cheers David.

      @@davidwinthrop7077Thanks for the information. I am a farmer from Poland and I am looking for information and machines like this forage harvester. I would like to buy such a machine. I found a new one, it's Kongskilde, same as JF. I don't know if there are any other companies that make such cutters. They used to be Lely, but now it's taken over by ACCO.

      You’re correct in Kongskilde taking over the JF brand and I don’t think Lely build trailed harvesters now though they were a good machine. Hopefully you’ll find what you’re looking for, the reliability on this one has been excellent, 27 seasons and still going strong. Cheers, David

      Hi Richard. They were a great machine, very stable on the hills as the trailer was hitched directly to the foraging tractor. Would love to see a side-mount JF working but possibly not that many about now. Thanks for the watch and great comment, much appreciated. Cheers, David.
