I saw in the specs comparing the Hybrid140 and the tce130 4x4 that there is a significant difference regarding the Torque. Though the Hybrid 140 has 10 more HP, it has only 148 Nm Torque. The tce 130 4x4 has instead 230 Nm Torque. To me this is an important argument for a decicion pro tce130, because exactly with a suv I will need force to transport, to pull, to offroad, etc. And besides: The tce130 has also a higher Top Speed, namely up to 180 km/h compared to 160 km/h in the Hybrid140.

I definitely agree with you, the tce 130 is better, even if it only has three cylinders. It can also be seen on the engine that it has two variators, both on the intake and on the exhaust camshaft, which is very good.

The 140 is a waste of Money. Full Hybrid without the ability to load your Battery with a cable is total BS. You can only drive electric when your battery has power, and to load your battery you have to drive your car with the petrol engine. Makes no sense to me. Then it feels much more lame then the 130 tce. I have driven both versions, and the 140 is not my cup of tee. The petrol engine does sometimes really high rpm and it feels that the gearbox has problems to sort the gears. I was really shocked how bad it feels.

I like the mild hybrid much more. The system is lighter, smaller and will be cheaper to replace when the car gets 8+ years old. The 1.2 turbo engine is more modern and more economical than the 1.6 without turbo so in practice the difference in fuel consumption will not be as significant as advertised.

I'd go with the full hybrid, but it doesn't have the 4x4 wheel drive system, so I'm gonna go mild hybrid with 4x4. Easy

Great, practical video, thanks. I've had petrol and diesel (4X4) Dusters. The Diesel 4X4 had a very low ratio gear box. I will be very interested when you do a test drive of the mild hybrid 4X4 to see if the new mild hybrid gearbox is permanently on low ratio, throughout it's range. Thanks.

Hello Dan! Thanks for the video! I would like to ask if you can give us a rough estimate of how long these batteries last and how expensive they are. My personal opinion is that the full hybrid engines are more complex and therefore more expensive to maintain. Also, I agree with the comment about the low torque (~148 Nm) of the full hybrid engine, it's the same on the Renault Arkana model.

    • @pavlospavlidis6183
      @pavlospavlidis6183 9 месяцев назад +1

The 1.3 Tce 160hp one has an even bigger torque of 270 Nm, so it's even better than the 140 hp one.

Unfortunately the insurance costs are much higher on the full hybrid over the mild hybrid. I wanted to buy a Duster Automatic, which in the UK only comes with the full hybrid engine. I’m now having to have a rethink. I’ll maybe go for the 4x4 instead (yes, I do go off road up farm tracks) so that I can have the mild hybrid with a better towing capacity. Plus the full hybrid does seem complicated, a lot to go wrong. Most of my driving is on country lanes, occasionally on a motorway for a short while.

When comparing the car performance, the mild hybrid offers a much higher torque, is slightly faster and average full consumption of the full hybrid is only slightly better. So I have a hard time understanding why the full hybrid is worth the price difference? Unless the full hybrid somehow offers a much better driving experience?

@@SDADanCars Just popped by the dealer and found out that the mild hybrid doesn't come with an automatic transmission, which is a deal-breaker for me. So, I'll be going for the full hybrid instead. Also, the dealer confirmed that the full hybrid offers a way better driving experience and is more fuel-efficient in real life than what the specs indicate.

@@solidhqx Did you end up testing them? In my country the price difference is almost 5000,00€. That mutch difference in money pays for alot of gas. Specially 5l for 5.5l in consumption

    • @solidhqx

@@K00leD I didn’t go through with that; instead, I bought a lightly used Ford Kuga for less than the price of a new Duster. From what I was told, it’s not just about fuel consumption-the full hybrid offers a much better driving experience.
I never actually did a test drive. Instead, I made a feature comparison between the new Duster and the low-mileage XC40, Kuga, and Tucson, and ultimately went with the Kuga. I’ve never regretted that decision, even though I really like the design and practicality of the new Duster.

I am looking to buy Dacia Duster 140 Hybrid, what does annoy me is timing chain. It is stated to be life time of engine, which sounds ridiculously, unless engine is rated to last until end of warranty (150 000km). I believe same engine is used in Dacia Jogger and Renault Arkana, has someone experience with these engines and driven them already past 150 000km?

I drive another mild hybrid car (c5 aircross).
If it's 48v system was just a little bit bigger, let's say, 72v, it would be perfect.
Even though I have never driven a 200v system, I think it's unnecessarily large and complex.

The Dacia Duster 140 Hybrid features a clutchless gearbox, which is essentially an automatic transmission but not a traditional CVT or dual-clutch system1. This type of transmission is designed to provide a smooth driving experience by eliminating the need for a clutch pedal while still offering efficient power delivery and fuel economy.

Like some other comments, I don't see advantage of 140. If example it's more efficient by 0.5 liter per 100km, you save only 2150€ over 250000km drive (considering petrol price 1.7€/L). So complicating the engine to save 0.5l per 100km what it's worth? Then paying more 3k€ for new car, then replacing a bigger battery again €, then some surely maintenance costs. Yes engine is not worn that much but it's rarely anyone drives car over 300000km, doesn't matter what is the state of engine....

Bro, without any attempt to be brute with you, but, if you talk of tech I will expect a minimum of knowledge about what you are saying, the fact you do not identify the smart alternator on the engine considering the screen showed exactly were it is placed and their look tell me a lot about your technical knowledge, sorry to being rude to you, but explaine tech things require a minimum of knowledge on the matter.

According the manufacturer the battery on hybrid engines lasts 6-8 years (far less actually). The cost of replacing it is almost half that of the whole car. Good luck to those that plan to buy a car with the hybrid platform. As a general rule you never buy a new type of engine that hasn't been tested for a decade at least. Unless you want to be part of the experiment.

mild hybrid battery would not cost as much as with full hybrid. For occasional riders non of the hybrid is suitable. Up to 12K per year you better choose plain petrol or LPG version which is cheap with Dacia.

A mild hybrid battery liion is about 200w or 0.2kwh and costs 500 euro only. A full hybrid battery liion is about 1kwh and costs 4000euro at toyota. A plugin hibrid battery of 10kwh costs 15 to 20k euro. A full ev battery costs 40k e. Think about it. It lasts more than 10 years because the warranty is 10 years at toyota for example 😂

I think I will go with mild hybrid. 0,4 l more in fuel consumption isn't much and also 10 HP isn't much of a difference to me. I also don't need an automatic but 3000€ less for almost the same consumption is really good deal. Now I just have to decide between expression or journey.
