Work hard for your goals no matter what people tell you. I took this path six years ago.Still grinding, the amount of things it has taught me is immense.

I watch all your videos. Keep it up. I have just gotten into cyber about 6 months ago. I am still learning so much and I am part of the older crowd and age doesn't matter. Keep up the good work.

It's not easy maintaining same expectations in middle management. I manage an incident response team in IT, did not go through after 2nd interview in cybersecurity. It's been countless interviews with the same result. GRC, DRP, DLP roles. Be prepared to halt all holidays, weekends to keep studying for certifications!!

To be honest, what ever you choose about IT carrier you will have to learn almost every day due to new technologies + AI tho... But if you are interested in the carrier that will be no problem for you!

I'm 34 currently living in Sydney, Australia working in I.T Operations for over 10 years and have been interested to move into cyber security, i'm just not sure how well i'd fare against other applicants with degrees in cyber security.

Experience > degrees in my book, so I'd say you're a strong applicant!

My only deterrent to move into security is I earn a fair bit in the current IT role that it’s likely I would have to accept a lower pay package…😕

I started cybersecurity because of you. I completed the Google cybersecurity course and loved it, so I went on to study for the CompTIA Security+ and got certified in June. I'm currently studying for the A+ and applying for helpdesk and SOC analyst roles, but I haven't received any calls for a month now.
I have some projects on my GitHub, like EDR attack and defense simulations and Linux file permissions and more. Is there anything I should be doing differently or specific sites or alternative names I should use when searching and applying for helpdesk roles?

Hey good to hear that you've got the certificates! Like the above reply, try networking with potential recruiters at events or even LinkedIn. Sometimes companies might not be recruiting in particular months so dont give up and keep honing your skills!

I'm an Attorney-at-Law from Sri Lanka with an LLB from the UK and currently in my second year of a BSc in Cybersecurity. Could you recommend a career pathway for me to pursue in two years after I finish my degree? Additionally, could you suggest some relevant cybersecurity certifications?

From CompTIA website "There aren’t any age requirements or educational prerequisites to take a CompTIA exam. However, we recommend that candidates for any certification be at least 13 years old."
